Welcome to the official website for Taekwon-Do Maximus, located in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

The core of our program includes the original, authentic Taekwon-Do as developed by General Choi Hong Hi. Hapkido, Jeet Kune Do and Grappling among others are added into the self-defense portion of training to prepare the student for any challenges or self-defense situations he or she may encounter. Regular stretching, strengthening and conditioning are part of the training. The perfect balance of scientific striking, kicking, joint locks, and escapes, as well as a noticeable improvement in physical fitness result in an overall feeling of well-being, confidence and self-defense capabilities.

The unification of the major martial art schools, "kwans", in Korea was accomplished by the acceptance of the name "Taekwon-Do". The name "Taekwon-Do" was submitted by General Choi Hong Hi on April 11, 1955. Tae – Foot, Kwon – Fist, Do – Art.

The General had spent the previous nine years developing this new dynamic form of self-defense.

In March 1966 the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) was formed with the approval of nine countries and General Choi as president.

Taekwon-Do students realize progress through the achievement of belts. Each new colour of belt achieved represents a step along the way to the goal of obtaining a 'Black Belt'. Requirements for each belt are clearly laid out in the checklists provided to the students.

Beginning a martial arts program can be daunting, but there's nothing to worry about! A beginner's class typically includes an introduction to the basics of the chosen martial art, including basic strikes, blocks, and stances. The focus is on developing fundamental skills that serve as a foundation for future training.

Before your first class, you should wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely. You should arrive early and introduce yourself to the instructor and other students. You should follow the instructions and rules of the class and ask for help if you need it.

Have opened up 2 additional Wado Kai Karate/Jiu-Jitsu classes for 10-17 year olds. The classes are Tuesday and Thursdays from 5:30-6:15pm and Sat from 9:00-9:45am.

Welcome to Neworld Martial Arts Fitness. Our family has been in operation and has been helping in the community since 1993 and we would be honored to have you join us in your journey to the enlightenment of Body, Mind and Spirit through the study of Martial Arts. We are a Wing Chun Kung Fu school, but also offers training in Pakua Chang, Xing-Yi Quan & Chi Kung, Chin Na (Joint Locks). We are a traditional martial arts club, meaning that we train for personal health and well-being, not for sport. Our techniques are geared towards real-life self defense and safety. Our main focus is the personal development of our students. We will hopefully never need to use what we learn to protect ourselves, but we can realize the benefits of training in our everyday lives will provide confidence (the conquering of our fears), self-esteem through relaxation and personal discipline which includes a healthy strong body and mind while improving the quality of our lives and our ability to peacefully resolve conflicts that we may encounter.
