Dundurn Castle: what do users think?

Therese de romas: Great day trip for family. Affordable tour that includes a kitchen demo. Staff are in period attire . Military museum and interesting kitchen garden that lets you smell and taste some fruits and herbs. Kids had fun playing in the military room and trying military clothes on the first floor. Great location for photoshoots. Saw some doing engagement shoots.

Andrew Soulsby: Interesting place. Tour guide was great. I believe her name was Jennifer.Visited on Weekday Wait time 10–30 min Reservation recommended No …

Jason D: , with a thunderstorm appearing at the end of our visit, serving to both clear the park out, as well as dampen our resolve to see the gardens in the back.We took a tour of the estate, while the staff was knowledgeable and friendly, I found it quite disheartening that the estate itself was in an early state of disrepair. It's effective enough to tell a story and tour through, certainly - but compared to similar places in other countries the peeling wallpaper and subtle cracks in the paint, along with some of the warping wood throughout the property leads one to wondering why these things are tolerated when you'd never see anything of the sort in any other commonwealth nations national historic site.Certainly worth a visit, and we would have loved to see the gardens in the back, but don't expect to be blown away with opulence as you might expect from other "castles"

Victoria Kim: Absolutely amazing experience with a tour guide booked in advance, we're able to travel back in those times when Hamilton just started to emerge and establish as a newly built community. Having a tour guide at this place is absolutely necessary as you're going to learn a lot of facts and history, as well as all the questions answered. Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and willing to provide the best experience.

Carolyn Ward: A friend of mine and I ventured down to Dundurn Castle today. Our tour guide Moira was amazing. She was very informative and answered loads of questions. Worth the money and I would go again. I took over 80 pics.Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes …

Mariya G-va: Marvelous museum at the very centre of city! and the very professional guide will provide an interesting excursion through all the house for you [ even if you are an only one visitor! ].

E Lala: This house is beyond beautiful with an interesting family history. A very unique home and, although it’s smaller than Dundurn Castle, the home actually has more to offer in beauty and in engaging stories. So happy I made a trip down to see it. The tour guide was so accommodating and friendly, with a thorough knowledge of the house.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait …

Kerrin Simon: So much history! Memorial: Resting place of 1812 unknown soldiers, immigrants & citizens. Also victims from ship fever 1847 & cholera 1854. British army barracks post War of 1812 used as cholera hospital until new hospital built in 1830s. Definitely worth a look. Old stonework still evident. Nice view of Cootes Paradise & Princess Point.

Candi P: Beautiful view, Harvey Park.

S. Nagy: We had our wedding here August 12th. Normally, the wedding package would be for the Jackson House only- but we were fortunate enough to have our ceremony up by the monument! Our coordinator Tim worked with us to arrange for a small ceremony at the end of the stone path. His wife KC, who assisted in coordinating, put together a beautiful arch for us. Their team was very prompt with setting up, in spite of precarious weather. It had been storming that morning and they had already set up the Jackson House for our ceremony. In record time, they were able to set up chairs and decorations outside, as well as hooking up the stereo system. As a result, we got the outdoor ceremony we so badly wanted...and some stellar photos! If you're looking for a beautiful and historic site for your wedding, this is your spot. It's also a great place to bring your kids for a family picnic on a weekend...lots of space to run around!Highly recommended.

Gs Hazra: I have not been to the battlefield museum yet but been to the park so many times, always a pleasure to visit, city kept it in a good condition and they have 20% gatherings whenever I went there, its fun to visit, hope I will get to the museum soon, as I always get tired in the park as it is huge and don’t get the chance to explore the museum, I am sure its going to be great like the park is.

Griffin House National Historic Site: what do users think?

Heritage Ancaster: Very interesting 👌 👍Visited on Weekday Reservation recommended Not sure …

Blue Orchid: This is a wonderful place to visit its so incredible its still standing .it's a great feeling knowing that they moved to Canada and had a safe place to live .

Lana English: I love sharing some of the history of the Griffin House with my friends!

joi joi: Interesting place

Alex Alvarez: Beautifully preserved historical house from colonial times.

Neman Syed: A beautifully preserved and interpreted piece of Ancaster and Hamilton history in the context of early Black life. It will definitely open your eyes to what was happening in Canada at the time. It'll make you think about what today could have been like. It's also incredibly beautiful and peaceful in the surrounding area. A heads-up on the parking: There's a dilapidated hermitage nearby which is $10 to park, payable by credit or debit only. That's your only option unless you have a disabled permit. The grounds are not well-suited to those with mobility issues. The house is not accessible to those requiring a wheelchair. Awkward hours, so plan ahead.

Greg: Recognized as an important Canadian Black History site, the Griffin House is a preserved early 19th century home, set on a hilltop overlooking the beautiful Dundas Valley. Explore the history of Enerals Griffin and other early Black settlers, and learn about the bravery and determination of black men and women who journeyed to freedom in Southern Ontario.

Polina Karasova: Nice an cozy house in the middle of the woods. A lady who is a park employee told us a wonderful story about history of this place.

Annette Sweet: Beautiful

Ken Peters: Wish i good visit inside or overnight here

HMCS Haida: what do users think?

Matt (Bunnimoto): I honestly came to the Haida on a whim and the blue attraction sign on the highway. I didn't know what to expect and ended up having a great time. There's a lot of history here and it was great to be able to actually climb aboard. You have access to quite a lot of the ship, just mind your head and feet. And expect to climb a ladder or two.The staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable.Admission was all of$4.25. I took the go train down so I can't comment on parking.

G Johnson: Good to visit. Canada and Hamilton should be proud.Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …

Rajat Ahuja: Very nice place for a 2-3 hour day Trip for kids...we went on ship's 80th anniversary and we saw some guns being fired.Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …

Euler Rafael Romero: I had a wonderful time visiting the HMCS Haida. You can enter in almost every area of the ship like the engine room, the captain's room, communications, etc. I would recommend at least 3 hours to visit every zone in the ship. There are guides that worked in the ship in the 50s and 60s. They were more than happy to tell me more about the ship and their experience. There are also another activities during the day so check the schedule on the entrance to know more about the activities. I also wanted to express my gratitude to the personal. Thank so much for the great time.

carlu bambi: Great museum a difficult walk onboard ship for those with disabilities .Some dangerous places for children and those with disabilities but worth every risk for the historical view

Richard E Moore: Fascinating historical site to explore! You must be capable of climbing and desending narrow ladders to fully appreciate this ship.

Julie Jamieson: This was an amazing visit. Employees were very knowledgeable and friendly. Worth the visitVisited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …

Peter Robinson: Fun visit for an afternoon. The ship is showing its age but still provides an education on history and what people's lives were like onboard. I love the fact that you have to navigate ladders and narrow doors to explore it - just like the crew did.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …

Natalie Peterson: This is my 2nd time visiting the Haida, however, first time in Hamilton. Engaging way to learn about Canada's naval history. Guided tours are available. Safety instructions are provided in advance due to low ceilings and tripping hazards on deck. Spent 1.5 hours total going through end to end. Great photo ops. Great place to teach kids about a slice of naval history. Free museum was there the day I went and they offered free spray on tattoos.

MattRobloxYT: Great experience and I learned a lotVisited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes …

Sandy Goldsmith: An overdue due visit to a great piece of Canadian Naval history. Great stories from some of the knowledgeable and friendly guides. It was a beautiful day to watch the guns fire and participate in the 80th anniversary celebration. It's great because it's outdoor and indoor and you can either do guided tours or walk around and explore on your own. Thank you!
