Long & McQuade Musical Instruments: what do users think?

Chris Briscoe: I have been a regular customer at Long and Mcquade for decades. I am a wedding DJ and I was an hour away from the start of a ceremony when I realized that the power adapter that I used the night before was no longer working.I called in a panic and was lucky that Drew Whalen answered the phone. He was empathetic and told me he was also a wedding DJ. He listened and asked the right questions so that he was clear about what the issues were. He was knowledgeable and over the next 10minutes, he gradually started putting my mind at ease. The adapter that I needed wasn’t in stock and he suggested a number of rental options with different pieces of equipment. Drew checked the used & rental stock and was able to find a compatible adapter that I could use for the night. Drew then talked to management and delivered the adapter to the venue where the wedding was being held and saved me from ruining my couple’s wedding,I am so grateful that Drew answered the phone and that the team at Long & McQuade went above and beyond all expectations to help me out.

Adam Anderson: . He was also able to source another part that for a repair on another instrument that was not listed as an option on their website. Thanks to the staff for going above and beyond without needing being asked to make everything happen.

Vinny M: In the process of buying my first Gibson Les Paul. Tim in sales has been great to deal with. I love this store.

Michael Windsor: Beautiful store, lots of equipment and knowledgeable staff. Always happy here and bought all my instruments and amps.

jeff sneyd: Staff member "Drew" at Long & McQuade went very far out of his way to help prepare the young starlet Cecilia Sneyd at this year's CNE talent show 2023. Thank you again Drew !

Joyce Reid: Drew was super helpful. The mic stand screw wouldn't work. Drew took the time to figure out it wasn't the screw that was stripped, but the unit. He found a replacement unit and voila....my mic stand works perfectly! Thank you Drew; nice doing business with you.

Stef Caunter: left turns in and out are not recommended, don’t take centennial, come up or down from nash and then it’s a right turn in from barton as you come east

Michael Gallant: Each time I’ve entered this location, I’ve been greeted by the right type of sales staff.Inquires if I need anything, always accessible, never the least bit invasive. Musicians like to look and staff members respect that while also acknowledging they can help with anything at any time.Specifically, I’ve been assisted by John, on several occasions. The wealth of knowledge, the ease with which he explains, and his ability to answer each and every question is a special quality in sales staff. The man takes time to explain, to set up guitars, pedals, amps, etc. with a desire to help and the knowledge to provide real support to musicians eager to learn. This makes me want to return and pay retail prices. When I return, any piece of gear purchased, will give John full credit and commission, because it’s no less than he deserves. And he’s earned it.Promote him.Or give him a raise.Or lower retail costs so musicians can spend more in store.Either way, John is professional, knowledgeable and above all helpful. I shop at LnM for staff like John.Cheers,

Shaikh Jawad Bin Islam: from woods used, to how to maintain a guitar properly to even showing me what sort of guitars I would like based on my preferences. I ultimately went with a Les Paul and can't be happier. John if you are reading this, I owe you a big one!

Christopher Labonville: . We when't in and the guy was very helpful, we told him the situation and he helped us out alot. He ignored the return window and almost gave us a refund with a small restocking fee, almost getting are full money back. We were long passed the return time but i guess he felt bad for why we had to sell it back. I don't think this would happen all the time but whoever that guy was deserves a raise, because of him if i ever need an instrument i will be going back there.

A D: Great staff, great selection

Christine Grace Photography: I went into the store and needed my daughters guitar string fixed and the customer service was just unreal! Nick was very patient, kind and super helpful! I haven’t received customer service like this at any Long and McQuade location!Thank you so much! Definitely brighten my daughters day! ✨

The Acoustic Room: what do users think?

Glenn Tonge: The guys were terrific taking my 45-year-old guitar and making it sound better than new! Excellent service; they are my go-to for all my guitars from here on out.

Terrell 420: Took my girlfriends twelve string in to be set up and neck tightening, they were straight up, fast reasonably priced and did a great job! I would recommend this shop to anyone and everyone.

Archie Walker: Great vibe. No pressure. Got a good price for trade-in and left with a guitar I love. Hadn't played acoustic in years so I was under the impression that I needed an acoustic amp for my new acoustic with Fishman. Mark cleared up that for me ! Thanks Mark!

Collin Allen: An incredible guitar store. I brought my guitar in to see what work needed to be done, the man not only showed me how to fix it but also gave me what I needed to do it for free. They have an incredible selection of guitars for great prices too! Highly recommended visiting!

Jamie Dykstra: Recently brought my Simon & Patrick in for a setup and they breathed new life into it. Friendly, knowledgeable and quick service. I will be back

Andy Kay: I just picked up a beautiful new acoustic guitar from The Acoustic Room in Hamilton and could not be any happier with the purchase and overall experience. They knew all the information and background specs for each instrument I looked at and allowed ample time to test everything out.Very reasonable prices and valuation from a small, local business with outstanding knowledge and customer service. An enthusiastic 5 stars!

Samuel Lim: The Acoustic Room is absolutely amazing. I very badly needed a tune up, string change, action looked at, and fretboard cleaned. I started getting really concerned because my action started dipping way lower than I wanted. I took it in Friday evening, Mark took a look at it and gave me assurance that he’d fix it right up. They gave me priority and made my guitar brand new again. These guys are amazing at what they do and you can really tell the love they put not only in selling beautiful guitars but also bringing an old guitar back to life. Highly recommend.

Whiskey Creek: Made the drive from Toronto to pick up a used J45. Instrument was exactly as advertised! Great sounding room with a good vibe! Lots of fine acoustic/electric instruments.

Michel Neray Music: Great relaxed atmosphere with some of the finest guitars I've seen in the city. Mark is an incredible source of knowledge, advice, and good guitar stories!

Khel: recently ordered a guitar, mark called first to inform the condition of the guitar before shipping he even included some gifts. 10/10 customer service.

Allison Lynn: A guitar player’s guitar store. Perfectly curated selection of instruments. Knowledgeable & friendly staff. Cool & cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Raymond Inata: The Acoustic Room is a one stop shop for all your guitar needs, from sales to repairs and any accessory - Mark has it all. Amazing acoustic instruments and a great selection of electric guitars will keep you coming back for more! Definitely worth the trip to see him.

Dusty: While I didn’t fall in love with any acoustic during my visit, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The owner is very knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and creates a very relaxed and comfortable environment. Will definitely make the trip again!

Carlo Dorado: Great shop in Hamilton. Mark was very professional, helpful and courteous in informing me the details of an item that was on consignment. Worth checking out if you’re in the area!

Howard Leznoff: . The price of both the guitar and the shipping were very very reasonable.I'd once, passing through Hamilton, visited the brick and mortar Acoustic Room and was pleased that stock featured offerings beyond the usual big names, giving customers a chance to get their hands on some boutique and not widely accessible brands. In store, too, Mark was friendly, very knowledgeable

Cithara Guitars Inc.: what do users think?

Jflow2112: I had a 1978 Femder Precision Bass refinished here and it turned out amazing.

Jimmy_Jim_ Jim_1234: Cithara did a restoration on the neck/headstock of my 73 fretless Jazz. It turned out 1000% better then i ever expected. Don't waste your time going anywhere else. His custom creations are amazing. If i played guitar i would one!

Terrence Baine: Daniel did a fantastic job repairing my guitar after it was damaged en route from Norway to Toronto. Although I've been living in Europe for over 30 years, I was born and raised in Hamilton and I am so happy to find a place like Cithara Guitars in my hometown, as well as an expert luthier like Daniel Clark. I hope to buy one of his guitars on my next visit home. I urge all of my fellow musicians to check out this amazing place.

Rob Infanti: . When I went to pick it up, Dan showed me everything he had done and had me play it before I took it home. Buzzing was gone and the action was perfect for me. I’ve had it home for a few weeks now and it feels and plays so nice that I can’t put it down….my other guitars are getting lonely. I highly recommend Dan for any guitar repair work that you may need.

john rankin: I had two guitars repaired at Cithara Guitars and must say the quality of work was excellent. I dropped my Godin Seagull and had a hole the size of an Loonie with a four inch crack. Daniel repair and workmanship exceeded my expectations. You have to really look hard for any sign of repair work.I took an electric guitar, Chinese made, that was useless beyond the 4th fret, after Daniel and his staff work their magic it is now a dream to play.I just really wish to say thank you to Daniel and his staff for great service, reasonable prices and just an overall awesome experience.

S W: Daniel is a total professional both in attitude and ability. Expert attention to detail and always communicates the job clearly. So glad to find such an excellent shop.

David Cross: I just wanted to thank Daniel and Cithara Guitars for the work that they did on both my Epiphone EJ200 and my EVH Wolfgang. In the case of the Epiphone, I had taken it to two other repair people, and they were unable to fix it. Daniel fixed the issue in 10 minutes. And then he did a complete setup. For my EVH repair and setup, I was amazed at the work. I have never had a guitar setup that well, in over 40 years of playing guitar. Thanks Cithara!

Joseph Avery-North: on the Gretsch website as an authorised service center. I was intrigued since he's not a dealer or retailer and I thought, "Well, he must know what he's doing if Gretsch knows his work".I couldn't be happier. Absolutely worth the out of town trip. My Penguin is back in tip-top shape, no issues at all and, if possible, she's even better than brand new.Great communication before I dropped it off, while it was at his shop, and Daniel even followed up with me after I brought it home. Absolutely stellar service.Daniel, you're "my guy" from now on.

Kat Cullen: This shop does wonderful work and the staff are courteous and friendly. Very impressed by the work they do and the high skill level they possess! Highly recommended!

J A: Personalized, professional & knowledgeable.Excellent service!

Alain Gagnon: I had bought a pretty beat up Martin d20-12 . The guys at Cithara did a great job refinishing and setting up. Great guys, nice shop!

Elijah Strome: Great guy worked wonders on my guitar's has great pricing and gets it done in a good amount of time. definitely go here if you need any work done on your guitars.

Ryan Ruicci: . While it was in for the repair, I decided to have a setup done as well. Upon receiving my guitar back. I was very pleased with the repair to the finish, but found several fret buzzes while playing. Daniel had me bring the guitar back in and play it for him

Matthew Griffin: Daniel made the experience of buying and building my first kit electric guitar phenomenal. The kit parts were great quality and the instructions were clear. He gave great and supportive advice when I asked questions. And then the set-up and fret dress have left me with a guitar I am delighted with. I hope one day I'll be able to build a guitar from scratch with him!

Sharon Northcut: Great work and service!

Shawn Tonello: but when I came to pick it up after the work was done

Barrie Glenn: to Dan, took it from unplayable to great, even sounds better too. New nut bridge and saddle work, flawless job, so happy, good guy to work with, very happy would recommend him to anyone.

Birchway Sound: what do users think?

Mike Somerville: There is no better place to take your guitar for repair, hands down.

Charles Gray-Paetkau: Had a wonderful experience here today. Came in with a guitar repair request and it was done on the spot in a few minutes for 20 bucks. Was able to pick up a couple cool products as well and the selection of Canadian products and boutique guitars and pedals is exceptional. Don't usually review places, but this was good.

Bernadette Twal: Ed fixed my Hawaiian parlor guitar. He did a great job, it was warped and cracked and needed much work. It was unplayable and he brought it back to life. Can't say enough about how happy I am. I highly recommend his work.

Bryan Tupholme: Amazing place, local Canadian with knowledge and products that you don't get anywhere else.

Susan Cook: Very professional atmosphere.

Sean Chesney: If you are looking for custom crafted boutique guitars this is the place! Friendly, knowledgeable service with a completely unique selection to get you away from the mass produced standards of modern instruments. Swing by to challenge yourself to look away from the marketed brands

Evan Garson: awesome store

Sandy McKay: What a great place!

James Logan: Great luthier!

bronzebeard: Amazing selection.Family owned.Great teachers.Knowledgable staff.Your one stop shop for beginners and rockstars alike. 🤘

Sore Thumbs: Absolutely fantastic store. Has all your guitar and percussion needs covered. I've gone here numerous times and come out satisfied in the product I'm buying.

doctor who fan 139: I’ve been doing guitar lessons here for ages and love the store mason is really helpful and have had a lot of fun talking to staff great service. Also has great prices

Sarah Hayward: was FABULOUS!! He answered every question regardless of how silly and gave me all the time I needed to make my decision. Ultimately, I settled on a mandolin and he even changed the strings for me before I took it home. All in all, one of the best music store experiences I have EVER had, and I just wish I could remember the man's name so he could be praised publicly!! I love my new mandolin and I will ABLOULTELY return with any music needs in the future!!

Jonathan Snow: I bought two danelectro pedals a week apart, the second being today. Both of the pedals I couldn't find at the other shops in the area so finding them here was outstanding. And I ended up paying less than I expected. I cannot recommend this shop enough for anyone who's looking for a great entry to mid level guitar, or an acoustic. The guy that works there is really good dude who knows his stuff, I over heard him helping some new players and their parents while I was trying a pedal and he's exactly the person you want to see when buying a first or second guitar, or if your buying for your kids. Hes honest, patient, and made sure the customers I saw him with had all their questions answered, and answered them honestly. Its a great shop to check out, the prices are unbeatable and I like i said, you can't ask for a better person to help you with instruments.

Richard Roubos: I was thrilled with the service we received from their friendly and knowledgeable staff in purchasing a Ukulele for my son.Times are tough with covid stock shortages and lingering effects from 2019s prolonged construction work on Locke street. Please support locally owned businesses.Picks & Sticks also offer free parking in their adjacent parking lot, a bonus to find on Locke street.

The Peghead: what do users think?

Peter Kirkpatrick: Always a pleasure to get my hands on my gear after it’s been in at Peghead. Whether it’s repairs or enhancements it’s always done quickly, professionally and the prices are more than fair.

Patrick Hung: Mike is fantastic and extremely accommodating. I called him this morning and he was able to slot me in on the same day!I brought my Stratocaster to him to help with its unbearable ear piercing bridge pickup and also to fix up the rats nest of a shoddy wiring job I performed years ago. At a glance he spotted a number of faults and quickly addressed everyone of them meticulously. His prices are extremely reasonable and now my instrument feels like a different beast.I definitely recommend his services!

Adrian Duyzer: A master craftsman. Mike did a beautiful job replacing the frets on a 1995 strat I picked up and it plays amazingly well now. All the intonation problems are gone and it sounds incredible.

Rob Carry: Guitar overhauled with new strings resulting in better action and the guitar never goes out of tune.

Michael Flanagan: Mike took the challenge of fixing my mid 90s parlor guitar and adjusting the neck back to playability. I haven't played it over a decade because it was unplayable. I also brought some more instruments in to fix fret-buzz and re-string. All done very well. Highly recommended.

David Gillis: Mike Spicer has been repairing and building stringed instruments for over 30 years. He has a deep understanding of vintage instruments and restoration to maintain their value. On one of my guitars, he did a heel restoration on an old Larson flattop guitar. At some point in time someone ran a bolt right through the outside heel to the inside heel block. Mike’s repair was nothing short of miraculous! I highly recommend him.

James Troisi: I couldn't be more impressed by Peghead. I brought my beat up 1970s Diastone classical and he was able to set it up so it plays like 25 years ago. I then brought him my brand new Yamaha LL16. It was already a great sounding guitar but really hard on the left hand. I could only play it for about 20 mins before my fingers were hurting. After the set up, it's a completely different guitar. It's an absolute pleasure to play. I played for two hours and my fingers didn't hurt at all! I'll be dropping of my Martin D28 this week!

rocker dave: There’s no craftsmanship in North America like the work Mike does. This guy knows his stuff!!!Beyond Excellent!!!✨✨✨✨✨

Adam Brady: Mike was recommended to me by my regular tech as someone who could handle a very delicate, particular repair on one of my guitars. He did a fantastic job, and the guitar now plays and looks better than it ever has before.

john mcintosh: I’ve had vintage guitars repaired all over North America by very skilled luthier‘s. Mike is in a class of his own, an absolute magician. His knowledge of guitar chemistry is simply unmatched. For these exact reasons the wait can be long but very well worth it…every time. Great guy and very humble as well .

Michael Cox: and the drive is very much worth it. I'll be a repeat customer and wouldn't think to take my guitars to anyone else from here on out. Thanks Again Mike

Joel Mckenna: Best man in Hamilton for instrument repair, care and restoration. Call Peghead when you want it done right.

jimbob mchamish: Ok so not to sound too " positive" in my review, but I have not come across a better luthier in Canada then Mike !!! His knowledge, level of craftmanship and professionalism is demonstrated in spade's when you receive your guitar back. Price points on repair's is very reasonable for the exceptional work you get. James

Brent Hebert: Best guitar repair guru in town

Dean S.: Mike Spicer is an exceptional tech. I came all the way from Barrie and he knows his stuff very well. He is also a luthier. Don't be fooled by the words "guitar setup" at big box stores. Mike will make your guitar play the way you want to whatever it takes.

It’s pretty, too, made with beautiful aged European spruce and maple.
