The Oxbow Natural Wine Bar & Restaurant: what do users think?

KC M: The Arancini was shared and we substituted the risotto for a gluten-free one and it was still amazing! My friend ordered the tuna tataki and escargots. We tried the nonalcoholic homemade tonic & soda

Richard de Chevigny: Went on a date to Oxbow recently and I've got to say, we had a pretty good time overall! The place had a great atmosphere which, in my book, already gives it a solid 4 stars. When you walk in, you catch the vibe straight away. Now onto the service... our server for the night was on the ball, I mean super attentive! You could tell she really cared about having us there and making sure everything was on point, and it was. She was quick to refill our drinks, chatty, and had a smile. The food was tasty and cooked well, but I wouldn't call it exceptional given the price point. Don't get me wrong, it was good food, but I was hoping for a little something extra to justify the dent on my wallet. All in all, I'd definitely recommend Oxbow if you're looking for a place with great vibes and on-point service. The food serves well, but if you're eyeing the 'wow' factor in every bite for the price, it may not hit that mark. But hey, it's still a pretty good night out!"Remember, this is just my two cents! Cheers to good food and good times! 4 out of 5 stars.

Justin Caputi: .I mostly recently visited with my family and we tried 9-10 dishes that were incredibly delicious, paired with 2 wine selections, and we all left very satisfied with every aspect of our evening. The menu can also be enjoyed for people with Celiac disease, as many of the items are gluten-free or have great gluten-free substitutions. The kitchen staff were amazing with handling and creating our dish selections to ensure that everything was Celiac-friendly too.The atmosphere inside is a great spot for date night, to get some friends or family together, or even to enjoy a night out for some drinks. We didn't get to enjoy their outdoor patio, but it has been highly recommended and I can't wait to enjoy another night at Oxbow this summer!

Angie Turner: The staff were very knowledgable and friendly. The service was amazing, there were always staff stopping by to clear away dishes or to take drink orders. The food was amazing! I really appreciate that there was a seperate vegan menu and the dishes were so flavourful! You can tell effort was put into the menu to ensure the dishes were unique and delicious. I can't recommend this place enough. Can't wait to go back again!

Steffy Bee: Lovely, dog-friendly patio with an excellent selection of vegan dishes. Food was flavourful and the meal was paced appropriately. Service was great. Decent selection of alcoholic beverages, however would have enjoyed seeing some mocktails on the menu as well. Overall, 10/10.Dietary restrictions: Separate vegan menu.

David D: I have been wanting to try this place for a long while and finally was able to. Father’s Day and my daughter’s birthday together and this was the perfect place to celebrate. The server Misha was spectacular and made our night very nice. She was knowledgeable about the menu and then curated the order of the food coming out to make the meal progression perfect! We were on the patio and it was very nice. We did peek inside and I would say you can’t go wrong in either place. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly and helpful. The food taste sensations were amazing and the prices very reasonable. Ended with a cappuccino that was perfectly crafted. Thanks to the team there for a wonderful evening!

MA J: Last time I was at Oxbow was probably over a year and a half ago, if not longer. Made a reservation here to come to celebrate my fifth wedding anniversary with my husband and it was so wonderful. I always love the ambiance of the place, the service is A plus and the food was so good. Only call it is I feel the burrata was missing a flaky sea salt or something, but it was still delightful. Loved my white cross mocktail. We also had the arancini, the potatas bravas, the schnitzel, and the carrots. Definitely was a lot of food but we were happy to take it home for leftovers the next day. Can't wait to go back and check out their patio this summer!

Chaise Café & Lounge: what do users think?

T Eu: First time eating here and came for Sunday brunch. Choices were great and change weekly. You can get an order on the menu or choose the family style menu which we did. The menu comes with eggs sausages and bacon vegetables and whichever is the selection for the week. Unlimited refills! Then came dessert which was cheesecake and crumble. I ordered the coconut cappuccino and that was absolutely fantastic! The atmosphere was whimsical and inviting and lots of parking on the street that was free. The service was great!

Emily Hearn: We held my sister's small wedding reception at Chaise Café & Lounge, and every guest was delighted by the food and the atmosphere! The front of the building is stunning and makes a beautiful backdrop for dinner and/r photos. The rooms inside are the perfect setting for gatherings. Stacy's service was impeccable, and we were all extremely well fed and attended to. The Family Style Prix Fixe dinner meant everyone got to try some new things, and many guests were thrilled to find new favourites. I would highly recommend Chaise Café & Lounge for a solo meal, a date, or a group gathering.

Nola: what do users think?

Joelle Kindret: I am cackling reading the bad reviews because it truly reads "WINNIPEG CHEAPSKATE".Let me assure you, reader, that every item on the menu at this restaurant is a masterpiece. The level of care and attention given to each dish, whether appetizer, entree or dessert, is remarkable. Every serving is crafted with meticulous detail and genuine care, resulting in a dining experience that is nothing short of perfect.Mike, Emily, and their hard working team have put careful thought into creating an amazing lineup of deeeeeeelicious food and beverage pairings, featuring both amazing wines and cocktails. The menu at Nola offers a wide variety of incredible food options to choose from. If you happen to leave the restaurant hungry, it's not because the portion sizes are small, but simply that you opted to skimp on your night out.

S.L. T: Have been here a couple times, all meals sooo so so good. Eat so much you are waddling out cause you can't stop. Last time I went though, I asked about a cocktail and if it were smoky as one of the ingredients seemed like it was something with that sort of flavour. It wasn't mezcal because I know it's not my thing and I would have stayed away. The waitress told me a bit unconfidently, as if thinking really hard about it, that it wasn't, so I ordered it and thought nothing of it. It turned out yes to be quite smoky and so I just traded drinks with my friend across the table and didn't say anything because it wasn't a big deal. But I would have preferred her to just go ask! But all other experiences have been great minus that 1 minor thing.

PC: What a fantastic spot. Amazing food, great customer service. I love the atmosphere. I'm just upset that I didn't come here sooner.I'll definitely be back soon, again!

Paul K: and the air conditioning inside could not keep up. We sat beside the thermostat and it said 80F! Thank you for a great evening!

Hazel “Yenchagirl” GS: A unique, delicious menu. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu. It is hard to find a restaurant to have lunch when you are Gluten Free and your friend is not. Many menu items were easily adapted to my needs. It was a refreshing change. I had chicken karaage over a delicious slaw. Great service, wonderful food.Dietary restrictions: Many items are easily made gluten free and they have a dedicated fryer 🙂

Deer + Almond: what do users think?

Dominic Angelo: barista at Little Sisters Coffee Maker recommended it, but I left feeling like I just had the best meal of 2023. Deer + Almond is perfect for a romantic evening or an occasion worth celebrating as there is no doubt you’ll leave beyond satisfied. I recommend the bone marrow w/chanterelles, goldeneye nigiri, beet agnolotti, and peanut semifreddo

Gail Horvath: Dining here was an experience I will remember for years. Every dish was unique, beautiful, and delicious. It felt like I was experiencing art. Four of us dined together on an evening where there was a fixed menu, and we shared so we could try every single dish on offer. Every dish was a joy. The chef made use of many local, in season ingredients and combined them masterfully. The server was warm, knowledgeable, and professional. This is not an intimidating fine dining experience - you will feel comfortable and relaxed and the chef may even come by to greet you. The fixed menu had more food than we could eat so we took some home. I recommend budgeting for a special dining experience here - it is good value for the effort put in by the Chef and staff and the wonderful ingredients. A Deer + Almond experience will not fade in your memory like other ordinary evenings at a chain restaurant.

Stephen Strike: 4 course options from the preset choices were all beautifully arranged and full of flavor.Smaller dishes in each but enough food by the last bite to satisfy the vast majority. The couple sample dishes could have easily been on the menu as options.Service was top-notch, providing a detailed outline of the ingredients of each dish and how it was prepared.Maybe a touch pricey, but the food was worth it and not the drinks. The only con I have is the atmosphere. Felt like eating in an old cafe and the amazing food was out of place. It's definitely worth a try.

PAMN: Really an outstanding restaurant! The service is awesome because they give you a wine tasting and also intricately explain the items you are ordering from the dining experience menu. Valpolicella Superiore and Deer Carpaccio are match made in heaven; it was my first time having a deer dish that too in carpaccio form - loved it and it was my favourite 😻 from the menu! Green Pappardelle was soft and tasty with a flavour bomb in that fiery chilli oil, wow 🤩🔥 Pork Schnitzel and Honey Custard had nice presentation but tastes ok compared to the first two dishes!! The restaurant is extremely hygienic and tip top with a casual ambience Palette cleanser served at the end and complimentary starter received were also good 😌Vegetarian options: They had vegetarian options also available on the menu!Dietary restrictions: They do ask whether you have any allergies!

Preservation Hall Eatery + Wine Bar: what do users think?

Brad Rich: Terrific burger week burger!Popped in at noon today and we were in a little bit of a rush and Preservation Hall was able to accommodate us and we were out by 12:50 - much appreciated! I really enjoyed a couple of the Kilter New England IPAs on tap. All 4 of us had the exceptional “Burger Week” burger, fries are outstanding and the house made bread is simply spectacular.

Arlene Ebora: Lovely food and service for us first time diners. Greeted pleasantly at the door, starter bread served, drinks came on time, starters followed, and then entrees came on time. We ordered butter lettuce salad, beef tartare, duck confit and buttermilk fried chicken. Water got filled the whole time. To-go box packed for us. It was flawless service and a perfect Friday night.Thank you.

sylvie landry: The drink was good. The food menu was amazing, we did not know what to choose at all

Justin Ness: First time going to this place. To start there was lots of parking; there should be no issues with that. The inside is very open and they have the option of eating inside or on the patio. Service was really good. The gentlemen that served us was pouring drinks and very attentive and patient throughout the whole sitting. I got the escargot for an appetizer which was really good. They also brought out some bread that according to the waiter was made in house and they seem to change up the type of bread as the couple that we went with noticed it was different bread. My partner got the fish and chips and said the bater was a little soft but other than that was quite good. I got the brisket which was glazed with a peach bourbon sauce and that was really nice. The price of the products is a little high but this is a “fancy place”. Probably a tier under the keg I would say. Overall would probably dine here again and a good first experience. Check it out for yourselves!Parking: In a plaza of restaurants so there’s plenty of parking.

T Eu: We came for oyster night which was well worth it on its own. We were able to come in as a walk in but make sure you do a reservation cause it does get packed on Wednesday for this special. We ordered 1/2 a charcuterie board and cheese, sous vide buttermilk fried chicken, avacado dip and all comes with house bread. The chocolate mousse was great! Lots of parking and family friendly.Vegetarian options: Not a set menu for vegetarians but customizable and there are some options. We ordered the avacado dip and it was ok but the pita that came with was great.Kid-friendliness: Family friendly restaurantParking: Tons of spots

Loc Lu: We went here just to try it out. I didn’t have high expectations just because of other experiences at restaurants lately. This place is definitely worth a visit. Friendly service, great drink options, tasty food with big portions, very wallet friendly prices. Overall this place was a breath of fresh air. We will be returning soon and recommending to our friends.

TheZomberry: and the servers were very friendly and attentive. Will eat here again soon!

Colleen Renaud: . The meats are all made there and were pretty good. Didn't enjoy the pickles or the chicken liver mousse, but the bread with the meat was very good. Beautiful decor, nice bar area.

Marilyn Kowalchuk: We finally returned to have dinner and had a great experience on Canada Day. Colin, our waiter was friendly and attentive even though he was busy looking after many other tables. I started with the oysters which are always fresh. Then we shared the Seafood Croquettes which had a great texture and mild flavor. Then we ordered the Dry Cajun Ribs and the Beet Gnocchi. The ribs were the best I've had and the Gnocchi were as soft and fluffy as a feather. It was great to pair those two dishes together. We finished with the Lemon Tart which was a great finish to a fantastic meal. I forgot to mention that I had the Coconut Mango Margarita that had great flavors and I would definitely come back soon and order one with our next visit here. We have never been disappointed at Preservation Hall. The food and service is top notch.

Brazen Hall Kitchen & Brewery: what do users think?

Crumpnpump: I'll preface the review by stating if I reviewed Brazen Hall in 2022 it would be a solid 5 stars after eating at this location multiple times. However, with that being said the 2023 experience is vastly inferior. I ordered two award winning burgers the Krakow and the Classy Viking on separate occasions. The Krakow had a sour flavor from the pickled red cabbage and was unfortunately the predominate flavor of the burger overshadowing the rest of the flavor profile. The Classy Viking while also pretty good was missing the crispy part in the onions and thus were very sad and squishy. Additionally, the burger was missing the subtle sweet flavor in the mustard chow chow blend that previously brought all the flavors together. The sides that came with the burgers were polar opposites with the cauliflower cheese soup being outstanding and perfectly seasoned. The beet salad was borderline inedible due to the overwhelming sourness of the red wine vinaigrette and the almost complete absence of the sweetness from the beets as well as almost no goat cheese and wasabi peas.Additionally, I ordered the Prickly Dillemma poutine which was absolutely fabulous and was easily the best item ordered this year. The flavors were great, really allowing the dill pickle flavor to shine utilizing a subtle sweet and smoky flavor from the candied bacon as well as a gentle spice from the chipotle hollandaise gravy to compliment the dill pickle flavor. Only gripe I had with the dish is it contained multiple full unground black pepper corns throughout which added a nice flavor however the tooth jarring impact of biting into one was not pleasant. The craft beer selection and quality is top notch. Also very reasonable prices on their draft beer. I do not think you could go wrong with any of the beers on tap. Easy 5/5 on the craft beers. If you are for some reason one of those people who only go to restaurants with a high emphasis on service expectations I guess you wont be disappointed as the service at Brazen Hall was really good. Friendly wait staff who knew the specials on hand and gave ample customer space while also ensuring you always had a full beverage.Overall recommend the location reasonably priced and food is good though if you have taste buds a far cry from spectacular.

Erik F.: Had a pint of Raspy the Red Beard which was really enjoyable paired with the trio of Brisket Tacos which were also delicious.Great service.

Máquè: what do users think?

Aaron Petrie: Nice spot for an evening snack. Exceptional service.

Amina ABED: I'd give it a 3.5 but I can'tFood was good can't say the contrary but I feel like I would have had the same pleasure in any vietnamese or fusion restaurant for half the price. The food tastes mainly like the different sauces they use, most of it tastes like very good nuoc mam sauce but still a bit too much similar. The main disappointement was the Chilled Bo Ssam, it is very expensive for few pieces of duck, salad, cucumber and again sauces... For the price, I'd expect a bit more work, maybe some herbes, some pickled veggies to make it more interesting.Deserts were ok, a bit too sweet I'd say which is surpising in an asian place where usually sugar is not the star of the show. The cocktail was good. The wine was not good, we ton a red Syrah really bad wine and a whote trebbiano was better but not good. The AC was quite high si it was a bit chilly and music a bit loud.Don't get me wrong, it is still a good place to eat, just defikitly not the best.Overall, we had better dining experience in other places in Winnipeg.

Martin Gravelle: Wow wow wow 👌. Absolutely amazing from beginning to end! Food out of this world, exceptional service! Thank you for making my birthday dinner so memorable! Go there, you will not be disappointed!Vegetarian options: A few vegetarian choicesDietary restrictions: Chef took the time to advise dishes to avoid or that she could modify for shellfish allergy

Ian S.: The Lobster chow mien is really good. I thought this will be over spicy however it isnt. I will recommend this dish.

Brett Nickol: Booking was easy, menu is simple to navigate and service was keen. Food highlights include the Tuna dish, Ham dish, and the show stopping Brussels dish. For the Brussels, it’s level of truffle favour was well balanced and brought a smooth and unique smoky element to the dish.Parking: Street parking only. However, there is loads.

Vivian: Great beef tartare and bao buns! The rest of the dishes were okay - the lobster chow mein was on the salty side but they did offer to fix it. Overall great service and ambience!Recommended dishes Slow Roasted Pork Belly Steamed Buns and Smoked Duck Steamed Buns, Steak Tartar …

Laura J: We celebrated our wedding anniversary here. The staff is courteous and friendly. Our waiter was kind and accomodating. The food was spectacular as always. I love the ambience here.Wheelchair accessibility: They have an elevator to take you to second floor for dining. Great for people with mobility issues.

Coletan Manchester: Hosted our wedding reception here, and it was a fantastic experience. Brad, our server, went above and beyond to ensure everyone had everything they needed, and following the guests were all commenting how wonderful he was.Upscale food cooked to perfection.I 100% recommend hosting special occasions at Baileys.

Bradford Wallace: It had well over 15 years since my wife and I had dined at Bailey's . I wasn't sure what to expect but kept an open mind. From the second we walked in the front door, we were made to feel like Kings and Queens. I'm absolutely blown away at the attention to detail the staff showed, which is very rare in today's world. Our waiter Patrick went so far above and beyond his position, he should be serving Kings and Queens. He is such a valuable asset to this business. We came hungry and with Patrick's desire to provide an excellant dining experience , and his amazing knowledge of in-house products , well we left totally fulfilled and even had some take home, yummy. . I cannot stress enough that If you want the Dining experience of a lifetime. Then forget the rest and dine at Bailey's. You will not regret it. So impressed with our experience and we will be back k. No question. To the management and staffAt Bailey's Thank you from the bottom of my heart.. Other restaurant management and staff need to dine here to see how its done right.
