Aikido Of Winnipeg Martial Arts Dojo: what do users think?

Leith Grenkow: Very traditional and respectful dojo. I very much enjoyed my visit. Personally I do not see Aikido as being a useful art though. I opted for boxing and BJJ*update based on owners response*In no way am I looking to "bash bozos in the ring" sir. I'm sorry to have offended you. My comments are based from the mindset of self defense. I just don't see Aikido as being "useful" in that sense. Again. Sorry if I offended. I do hope my review helps others to evaluate their reasons for learning a martial art!

Cassie Chatwin: I spent two and a half years training with aikido of Winnipeg and was devastated to leave when I moved away from Winnipeg. This is a traditional iwama style school that covers all aspects of aikido not just the self defense part. I will be forever grateful to Doug sensei and the other senior students for introducing me to aikido and patiently teaching me over those two years. I haven't found another dojo with a similar energy yet.

Robert Ross Parker: I had the chance to train at Aikido of Winnipeg while visiting the city for work. It’s a welcoming and friendly community and a great opportunity to practice with serious senior akidoka. I wish I could have spent more time on their mat. Thank you very much!

Nicole Dorville: . This all adds up to an exceptional and finely-tuned learning experience if you keep an open mind and heart. Also, regular training with wooden swords, sticks and daggers is pretty cool. :D

Ralph Dueck: For the last decade I have been a member of the Aikido of Winnipeg community. The instructors are skilled and knowledgeable, and it is a fun and challenging training atmosphere.

Jamie Oliviero: I have been a member of this dojo for over twelve years now. As a long time student of Aikido I can honestly say that this is the warmest, most supportive dojo community that I have ever been a part of . Our senseis Doug Reichert and his wife Leanne are strong, committed leaders, and experienced and encouraging teachers.

Leanne Reichert: A traditional dojo in every way. The atmosphere, training and friendship are all genuine. Having started my training in Japan, this is the closest I have come to being there.

Tatami Studio Aikido • Yoga • Meditation: what do users think?

Liam Morton: Good

Diego Lanchuske: Great time. Grest place. Great people.

Carrie Young: I recently signed my 9 year old son up. I have nothing but praise for the sensei's, other instructors and establishment! They are patient, kind and encouraging! They've created a warm, peaceful and inviting atmosphere that's ideal for growth and learning!

Mr. Gnomekiller: Tatami Studio is a warm and inviting place. The instructors are fantastic teachers and honest and caring people. They offer yoga, meditation and traditional aikido. I have been an aikido student for a little over 2 years and this is the place I go to releive my daily stresses.Once you walk in you are treated like family.I can't say enough good things about this place.

Kathy FF: Living in such a fast paced world finding a place to relax and slow down is hard. Tatami Studio is that place. It offers you peace and tranquility allowing you to feel safe and totally relax, mind and body. Ama is very intuitive and compassionate and will have you feeling zenned out in no time. It is a home away from home.

Scott Lakusiak: Our kids, 9 and 11, joined Aikido here several months ago, and LOVE it here! Sensei Maria and Ama are wonderful teachers, and create an amazing learning environment.

0705billy: I work a stressful job with long hours and have been looking for something to help me with my sleep. I exercise and do yoga once a week but wanted to consider meditation to calm my mind from racing throughout the night. I had attended a few different centers before Tatami, but they weren’t really for me. They mostly involved sitting in silence with the teacher going through some readings and that was about it.What I really love about Tatami’s meditation class is that it incorporates about 1 hour of light push/pull movements to prep you for a 20/25 minute guided meditation while laying down flat, followed by seated breathing exercises and continued meditation.Ama, the instructor, shows a genuine passion and enthusiasm for meditation which is evident through his methods of teaching. He is the type of person you feel trust with immediately, and because of that, feel very comfortable from the moment you walk in. I also feel like I am learning something every class which is a bonus. I highly recommend this to anyone who needs a very calming 2 hours in there lives.

dooberry Flopp: Dru Meditation is a fast track to feeling balanced and more at peace with myself after a busy day of demands at work. I can also use short sequences or breathing techniques to centre myself during the day.

Angie H: Tatami Studio is run by two compassionate and dedicated instructors - Maria and Ama. The dru meditation classes incorporate gentle calming movement sequences, a beautiful guided relaxation along with breath work and meditation. The dru yoga combines subtle yet powerful sequences that help move energy and bring balance to your mind body and soul. If you are looking for a place to study yoga and meditation with beautiful energy, give Tatami Studio a try!

Bujinkan Manitoba: what do users think?

Andrew Schmidt: There may be others in the province that claim to teach The Bujinkan, but this school is actually under the tutelage of a Japanese trained shidoshi. This particular dojo constantly revisits fundamentals so as to build on a solid foundation. If you're looking for belts and grades, though, this place is not for you.The dojo space is shared with Aikido of Winnipeg.

Robert Barnes: This is a great place for personal development, physical activity and more. The sensei's are wonderful. The only thing we would see as an improvement is more evening classes more days of the week.
