Kendra Brophy: Susan is an amazing teacher, mentor, supporter and friend! I first started taking lessons with her when I was a young teenager. I had been a dancer all my life, and wanted to work on my singing skills to expand my future opportunities as a performer. I was a little nervous to train in something new, but right from the first lesson Susan made me feel so comfortable! Like me, Susan has a background in dance. Because of this, she’s able to utilize dance and movement analogies to demonstrate different aspects of singing/vocal techniques. This method has been so helpful in allowing me to understand my voice! If you are a dancer who wants to improve your voice, I can’t recommend Susan enough!If you aren’t a dancer, that’s okay too! Susan uses an individualized approach which caters to each of her students unique abilities and understandings. Her students are all different ages, and all different experience levels. Kate Madden: Susan Gudgeon helped me find my voice, and I will be forever grateful. After a recommendation from a friend in high school, I began singing with Susan at age fifteen. I was so nervous before my first lesson! But there was no reason to be. I knew that I loved to sing and wanted to learn more. That was enough. Susan welcomed me with open arms! I was not musically trained, and yet I felt so comfortable as Susan adapted her teachings into lessons that I understood. She helped me connect my breath with my body like I had never done before. Karen Scobie: Susan was my vocal teacher from age 11-18. I give her a lot of credit for helping me get voice and performance ready to audition for Musical Theatre College in 2007. Additionally, it was always a joy to perform in her annual/biannual recitals throughout my teens. I had tried the Kiwanis Festival within my first year and didn't have the best experience, so I didn't return again until my last year with Susan. I liked that Susan never pressured me to return to the festival competition until I was ready, but was always very supportive.I grew a lot as a singer/performer while studying with Susan. I was able to take my vocal warm ups with me throughout College and still continue to use them to this day.She was great at challenging me with new and more difficult material, and also helped me understand the stories of the songs, not just the melodies, which helped for better performances.Though I'm not really in musicals much anymore, I'm still very much a performer. 4worldlovers: Since graduating Berklee College of Music with a Bachelors Degree in Music Business and Songwriting, I have been working professionally as a live touring, and studio recording vocalist for the last 15 years along-side artists such as Janet Jackson, Maroon 5, Christina Aguilera, Sting, Paula Cole, Brandy, Lindsay Lohan, Diana Ross, Gladys Knight and many more. I’ve also worked on Season’s 6, 7, and 9 of NBC’s The Voice as a background singer and am now very excited to share my years of experience as a working professional in the music business!
The teaching method I use is an effective, comprehensive, non-classical approach for singers, offering an understanding of the voice and puts you in control. This approach was developed from the premise that the body has a natural voice production process and if you understand it you can sound the way you want without hurting yourself.
Based on similar principles an athlete uses to improve their skills, once you understand the way your body works you can warm up and train the needed muscles to perform well. A marathon runner would never compete without extensive training and proper warm-ups, yet singers, who are vocal athletes are too often eager to jump up on stage and perform without adequate preparation. If you try to use muscles that are not properly developed you may hurt them and you certainly won’t achieve the control and stamina you are capable of.
I’ll also provide the correct information about vocal anatomy in a way that does not require a biology degree to understand, while also incorporating warm-ups, proper breath support along with vocal exercises that gradually develop your muscles so you can sing without tension while expanding range, power, volume, stamina and control.

L.J. Don: We have been part of the Studio E family for many years. Our son has been going to Studio E since he was six months old and he is now 8! Owner Teresa is so kind and passionate about music and the arts and his drum teacher Matt is so knowledgeable and makes the lessons fun. There are opportunties to attend clinics with other music professionals to grow skills which is a huge plus. He also goes to their camp in the summer and we HIGHLY recommend it...he has so much fun and is such a big confidence booster. If you want your child to excel in music, especially at an elite level, Studio E is the only place to go!
