Canterbury Hills Camp: what do users think?

Alexander Rykhlinski: Great place for kids in summer to learn social skills, be independent, explore and be closer to nature

Sarah Visheau: Wonderful camp!

Karm Patel: Canterbury Hills in Ancaster, Ontario was the most amazing summer camp ever! I had the time of my life with so many cool activities and the best counselor ever, Armando.Canterbury Hills had everything you could dream of! There was archery, and I felt like a real archer hitting the bullseye. Baking was so much fun, and I made the yummiest cookies ever! Campfires and campouts were super cool, and we told scary stories under the stars. Climbing the wall and doing the high ropes course made me feel like a fearless adventurer. Co-operative games and crafts were awesome, and I made friendship bracelets for my new friends. Creek walks were a little muddy, but we found fascinating critters. Field games and water games made us laugh and splash around all day! Drama was a blast; we did funny skits and showed off our acting skills. Hide and Seek was epic in the big forest, and Gaga Ball got us moving and grooving. Hiking was beautiful, and the view from the watch tower was breathtaking. Low ropes and swimming were super fun, and I felt like a water ninja! Sports were a blast too; we played soccer and basketball. There was never a dull moment at Canterbury Hills!Armando was the coolest counselor ever! He made us feel so welcome and included from day one. Armando always had a big smile and was full of energy. He helped us with the climbing wall and high ropes, cheering us on when we got scared. I loved how he encouraged us to try new things and never give up. During drama, he joined in and made us laugh so hard. Armando was like a friend and a superhero combined! He made me feel brave and capable of anything.Food at Canterbury Hills was like a feast fit for kings and queens! Breakfast was always delicious; pancakes, eggs, and bacon galore! Lunch had the yummiest sandwiches and veggies. Dinner was my favorite; we had pizza, pasta, and even tacos! And the desserts were out of this world - ice cream, brownies, and cookies that melted in your mouth. I never went to bed hungry, that's for sure!Overall, my time at Canterbury Hills was the best summer adventure ever! The activities were so much fun, and Armando was the greatest counselor I could have asked for. The food was absolutely amazing, and I made so many new friends. I can't wait to go back next year and create even more incredible memories at Canterbury Hills!

Benjamin Rowe: Didn't stay but dropped a little camper off. It was gorgeous out there.

Vishal Prathapan Pillai: One of the best experiences I've ever had.

Karam Bawa: Granddaughter had an amazing experience-!

Bobby K: . Kids spent 2 separate weeks at overnight camp and they loved it. Counselors were amazing. They managed to win the camp cup both weeks, so they can't wait to go back next year!

BushFox: This review is kind of out-dated. In a time before Google and the internet, we lived simpler lives. The time was around 1989. I came here a few times as a kid. Such great memories here. Makes me wish I was a kid again. The cabins, the pool, the big firepit, the mess hall, playing capture the flag or survival at night. If you send your kids to do these things in modern times, you are parenting right.

Kyra: My happiest memories from childhood were made at this summer camp. Canterbury is a welcoming community that is very accepting and affirming of all backgrounds. The generation of camp councillors I had helped me develop compassionate and creative leadership skills. As a camper, I was given a chance to interact with children from all walks of life which is an irreplaceable and invaluable experience. This is a camp that I will hopefully bring my future children to one day. I can confidently say that I would not be where I am today without the wonderful things that I learned at Canterbury.

Ned Carolan: Nice small overnight camp.

Camp Mi-A-Kon-Da (Office): what do users think?

Maria Green: Beautiful place for hiking

Shannon P: Phenomenal camp for girls.I was a camper, wow, almost 15 years ago, and as an alumni have loved seeing how they have continued to grow and evolve ever better camp experiences. As I have told many people since I was a camper, I attribute most of my self-confidence and ability to step out and try something new, to my days at camp.

Bridget Best: 20 years after leaving Mi-A-Kon-Da, my camp friends are still my closest. Mi-A-Kon-Da is an incredible place for young girls to grow into themselves: learn and be challenged in a 100% supportive environment. The island is magical and the memories last a lifetime. No better place for a girl to spend her summers.

Pamela Cyr: My daughter loves this camp! The moment she gets home, she wishes she was back. It is such a special place - girls learn to mentor younger campers, develop leadership skills, and learn to be independent in a supportive environment. One of the best perks is that they are unplugged from social media and can just enjoy making friends and being in nature. I can't recommend this camp enough!!

Jennifer Woods: Amazing outdoor camp for girls! Camp Mi-a-kon-da is a beautiful island with endless activities and adventures. Highly recommend!

Susan Potter: Best girls camp ever! I spent over 15 years at Miakonda as a camper, CIT, counsellor and senior staff member. There are so many opportunities for young girls - canoe tripping, sailing, kayaking, swimming, dance, art, music, environmental education, etc. Miakonda instills independence and confidence in their campers. It’s a life changing opportunity. I can’t wait to send my daughter ❤️

Caitlin Bate: . Absolutely loved it! A great place for girls to learn an appreciation for nature and make lifelong friendships.

Michelle Roney: Miakonda is a truly magical island in the sun.My memories of Miakonda are amongst the best from my childhood. I spent 12 summers there as a camper and then counsellor. As a camper, I loved the freedom to choose activities I was interested in each day, the endless enthusiasm and support from counsellors and the ease of forming friendships with fellow campers.

Taylor Sawadsky: The most wonderful place on earth!

Brad Rauch: After testing a couple other girls camps with our first daughter we found Mi-A-Konda to be everything we wanted in a camp. There is something special about an island camp, where eveyone learns to live together and your leaders/counselors are around and can’t just “go into town” easily on their time off. We’ve had all three of our daughter attend the camp, with two so far moving on to the staff. I would strongly recommend Mi-a-kinda to anyone interested in developing your daughter into a strong, independent leader for the future.

Jason Wesley: Camp Mi-A-Kon-Da has been a wonderful experience for my daughter. She enjoys her summers there very much. She has made many friends and has had many positive experiences through the diverse activities of camp life. Camp Mi-A-Kon-Da is her second family away from home. This is a wonderful camp for young girls.

elena tames: Wonderful place and wonderful people. This will be my three daughters third summer, they are all really looking firward to it.

Katy Herstein: My two daughters have been campers at Mi-A-Kon-Da for years. They endlessly talk about it together through the school year, counting down the days until they can return. They love the freedom of choosing which activities to go to each day, the camp evening activities and of course, the amazing close friendships they have made. The food is fantastic too!

Anne Potter: Camp Mi-a-kon-da is a beautiful place for girls and young women to learn, grow and have fun. The memories and friendships I made at camp have built me up over the years and helped me become the woman I am today. This place is magical.

Kathryn Kimmins: During the summer of 2017, Kaime invited me to facilitate a Laughter Yoga session for her campers.Marmie Wolfson first introduced them to an interactive dance routine, then she got everyone up and dance with her.It was so much fun, moving and laughing and smiling at everyone. Then I did a laughter yoga session with them. When you are around children they bring the child within you out to play. They were very attentive and playful while acting like we had ants in our pants, toads in our pockets, aliens, superheroes, human bumper cars and many more crazy interactive laughter exercises.Kaime makes sure all the children are involved and up to the many activities she inspires during her day camp.Lots of smiling faces and laughter fills the room. A happy place to meet new friends and be imaginative and creative.Kathryn Kimmins

Elizabeth Wojtowicz: After going there for 4 years I can say proudly that AiDA is truly a amazing and magical place. I have made so many great friendships and memories there .We go outside a lot and go on many hikes . We play games and spread joy. Some of my favourite games I’ve played in my life are from AiDA . And we’re always trying new ones out which soon become some of the campers favourites. The mentor leaders do a great job of keeping everyone out of trouble.I’d love for lots of other kids to come and join me at AiDA!I’d like to thank Kaime for creating AiDA!

Jack Rosenfeld: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueMy 9 year old son went to the first week of camp. He went back for the next two and enjoyed the entire three weeks.

amy garcia: My kids have attended AIDA Hamonts camps for two years at this point. They thoroughly enjoy it. Each day combines art, theatre, games and nature. Both of my kids are eager every morning and happy after each day. Both have made some very good friendships and one is currently on her way to being a mentor in training. We couldn’t be happier with AiDa.Amy

BH Micheal: Aida has been a true positive experience to my son Micheal. Micheal has been a camper since the beginning of the camp and this year participated as a leader in training. The growth for micheal has been remarkable . Increased confidence in communication socialization.

Kristi Patel: As a volunteer at AiDa, I can confidently say that this is the best camp I've ever had the good fortune of being a part of. Everything we do always has such a positive outlook and aura about it. It is a wonderful camp that not only kids would love, but teenagers as well. All of the wonderful things I've been lucky enough to do and participate in has been some of the best parts of my summer. It is truly uplifting and definitely helps one grow as a person. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CAMP!

jaeson wang: brought by the camp director, Kaime. Being in the AIDA community not only will bring out the creativity and imagination in kids, but is also a place where they can meet new friends and develop a very important and useful skill, communication. From fun drama activities, to wild nature hikes, then to the best show EVER - the AIDA's got talent, kids will be in the best environment where they can have the most fun and bring home a collection of unforgettable memories.

Michelyn Gallant: My granddaughter just finished a week at AiDa summer day camp. She absolutely loved it. Came home so excited each evening to share all of the exciting things she did. Due to covid-19 restrictions were put into place to keep the children safe while still having a ton of fun! Lots of great hikes and outdoor activity while engaging the imagination. Kaime is so caring and has great skill at working with children with all children. She makes them feel so welcome. Would highly recommend.

Greger: struggles with mornings. Best guess is that he gets it from his Dad

Arlene Stopps: I highly recommend AiDa. Any of the programs are wonderful!. Full of opportunities to express and encourage imagination, creativity and self confidence. These skills are so important to our young people to help them develop into secure, positive thinking adults! So important to give your children the “gift of imagination”!
