Art Gallery of Hamilton: what do users think?

Liam Good: I photographed Cori + Chris' wedding here recently and can't wait to return! The team went above and beyond to ensure my couple had an amazing time, and I enjoyed using aspects of the venue for creative portraits with the couple. As well, having Sheraton Hamilton across the street provided an efficient spot for getting ready photos followed by a short walk to the venue. Check out the AGH for your wedding day, and don't overlook the cool hallway lighting - great potential for creative wedding photographs if you lean into it!

Sweet November: First, I didn't realize it was in such a weird area... Downtown Hamilton, but entrance is in the alley or parking structure, with homeless people sleeping right by the walkway. Very bizarre and had a bad vibe.Parking was like $4 or so.But once you are in, the place is clean, open and very cool. We were able to tour a couple exhibits that were open. Mostly modern art, but had a few halls with 19th century paintings, which were of course great.Ticket prices are a bit high for what they offer; the museum is not big at all. However, we decided not to worry and just enjoy it. We did have a great time.

Glynn Manchester: We were here for a wedding and they did a great job! The sculptor garden was beautiful in the evening for a ceremony.

Nicole McReavy: Went to see the Indigenous Bead exhibit. Wow, it was amazing. We toured the entire 2 floors and each area was curated in a way that let a story or idea flow as you moved through the exhibit. It was my first time to this gallery, but I will definitely be back.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Not sure …

Chris Kelsey: So glad I had a chance to visit. The exhibits were great but it is worth going just to see the building. The person who started our tour was very knowledgeable too.

Claire Doey: Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes

Scott Skinner: Great place full of heritage, beautiful building. Gotta love the green floor, a real attraction that you should not miss if you visit Hamilton. An indescribable hue of green never replicated before. A one of a kind masterpiece of a classic green floor.

Angelina Arabella: Breathtaking

Dawn Stowell: Amazing exhibit on the clothing industry. Wonderful architecture

Gwenyth Crouse: And I remember it being really amazing. There's this whole atmosphere to the place. If it's not haunted then in the very least it has this air of rich history. It's a lovely place and I highly recommend it. I know ghost walks don't happen here anymore but that was one of the most inspiring days of my life. Will definitely come back someday when it reopens just to see how much it's changed in the past 6 years.

Jim T: I visited here yesterday located on the grounds of Dundurn Castle after you checked in for a tour at Dundurn Castle you receive a pass for the museum afterwards. The museum is a self guided tour, you walk around and check out all the displays, and artifacts from Hamilton's history in past Wars. S. Nagy: We had our wedding here August 12th. Normally, the wedding package would be for the Jackson House only- but we were fortunate enough to have our ceremony up by the monument! Our coordinator Tim worked with us to arrange for a small ceremony at the end of the stone path. His wife KC, who assisted in coordinating, put together a beautiful arch for us. Their team was very prompt with setting up, in spite of precarious weather. It had been storming that morning and they had already set up the Jackson House for our ceremony. In record time, they were able to set up chairs and decorations outside, as well as hooking up the stereo system. As a result, we got the outdoor ceremony we so badly wanted...and some stellar photos! If you're looking for a beautiful and historic site for your wedding, this is your spot. It's also a great place to bring your kids for a family picnic on a weekend...lots of space to run around!Highly recommended.

Gs Hazra: I have not been to the battlefield museum yet but been to the park so many times, always a pleasure to visit, city kept it in a good condition and they have 20% gatherings whenever I went there, its fun to visit, hope I will get to the museum soon, as I always get tired in the park as it is huge and don’t get the chance to explore the museum, I am sure its going to be great like the park is.

Lana English: I love sharing some of the history of the Griffin House with my friends!

joi joi: Interesting place

Alex Alvarez: Beautifully preserved historical house from colonial times.

Neman Syed: A beautifully preserved and interpreted piece of Ancaster and Hamilton history in the context of early Black life. It will definitely open your eyes to what was happening in Canada at the time. It'll make you think about what today could have been like. It's also incredibly beautiful and peaceful in the surrounding area. A heads-up on the parking: There's a dilapidated hermitage nearby which is $10 to park, payable by credit or debit only. That's your only option unless you have a disabled permit. The grounds are not well-suited to those with mobility issues. The house is not accessible to those requiring a wheelchair. Awkward hours, so plan ahead.
