Patrick S Callan: Erected in 1936 to honor the 3000 soldiers from Edmonton who died in WW1. Over the years, WW2, the Korean War, and the Afghanistan war have been added to recognize and remember those fallen men and women who fought valiantly for freedom. The large 100 ton monument is made of concrete, steel, and British Columbia marble and is located in the Winston Churchill Plaza in front of city hall.

It was our family’s first time having to go through this and Heather Martin took care of us from the start and was so understanding, respectful, and compassionate.During our first meeting with Heather, we were very emotional with the loss of our loved one, and she guided us with such caring through such major decisions. We never felt any pressure to do anything and instead we were able to make choices that gave us peace. She explained every charge clearly and there was no pressure to go outside the financial costs we were comfortable with. She was also accommodating with the opportunity for us to say goodbye. From the first meeting to the ceremony, all communication with her was so thorough and detailed.The Celebration of Life ceremony was handled excellently by all the staff. We were given plenty of time to personalize and decorate their beautiful chapel. They were all on top of things that we would turn away and look back next minute and they had it all handled and even better than how we left it. They took care of our guests and us so well. They made sure the whole process was efficient that our family did not have anything to worry about that day except for honoring our loved one. Even at the end, they had gathered our things and packaged them all with much care. I also have to mention that the sunlight streaming into the chapel area was what led us to choose South Side Memorial initially and, on that day, with the whole experience we had with the team as well, it really cemented how it was the perfect choice.We are thankful to have chosen South Side Memorial Chapel. Jodi Byrne-Marsh: Park Memorial was amazing. These people have one of the hardest jobs on the planet. Constantly surrounded by sad people. Yet they maintain a loving, caring and respectful demeanour. My first contact was late evening jan 22 2021. My brother was found deceased in his apartment. They had someone there to collect him in an hour and a half. The 2 gentlemen that picked him up were so kind and thoughtful. I was a complete mess and they reassured me they would take good care of him. Next contact was with Brad. Once again very kind and helpful. We then came in and met with Nicole. She was thoughtful and walked us through my brothers arrangements so throughly Still keeping a kind disposition. Then today I received a call my brothers urn was to be picked up. Tracy sat down with me and was so compassionate to our story and even became emotional too. Which just showed me how much these people have to endure dealing with grieving people and attempt to not being that home with them. The level of care and compassion I received from everyone is very much appreciated and made a horribly traumatizing event seamless and as painless as possible. Bless you all and all your hard work. Dezi G: Beautiful Cemetery with so much history. I took the Cemetery tour last year and learned so many people that have places named after them, are buried here. Boyle Mccauley, Griesbach and many more. This is i think the oldest cemetery in the city, and was expanded. I really recommended the grave yard tour. Its will maintained and has beautiful bits of architecture.

Darleen Robinson: I would like to say Thank You, to a lovely lady Lindsey Hunter!!!! My niece and I were at Evergreen on Sunday 25th of June to place flowers in rememberence, of my Mom's, & Grandmother's passing. Almost our whole family is resting there. 46 years is a long time to be gone, as so many have followed to this lovely resting place. I have a plot there as well, and was curious why I hadn't seen a plaque for my final resting place. We went in to find out and Lindsey, greeted us with the most pleasant smile welcomeing us. I can't explain how reassuring it was to have this young lady look after us. I felt surrounded by kindness and not overwhelmed by the fact I was at a Funeral Home. The Stigma, and somber feelings when a person goes into a Funeral Home wasn't there. All that we felt was like someone wrapped a comforting warmth around us and was there to do anything to help. She took so much time to explain, absolutely everything and then even more. Because we were discussing things I hadn't actually came for we were well informed of other services, never pushy, or badgering. I made a quick decision at the time and she said, to please go over everything and take some time. I did just that and realized I already had the other things in place and called her the next day. She was so accommidateing and helpful, never once making me feel obligated and pushed in anyway. She is and probably will be the only person I would talk to about any further changes I might make.
