We opened Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company in Winnipeg’s Wolseley neighbourhood in 1990. The foundation of Tall Grass has always been based on baking with heritage varieties of organic wheat, grown by Manitoba farmers, milling our own flour and baking from scratch.
More than 30 years later, there are two Tall Grass bakery locations: one in Wolseley and the other at The Forks Market, along with Grass Roots Prairie Kitchen.
We use Red Fife wheat in our bakery, a tasty, nutty ancient variety. It joined Spelt, another ancient grain, known for its low glycemic index and lower gluten content. As bakers in the land where we live and work, we consider it an honour to bake with these two ancient grains.

Manan Sachdeva: . Lots of flavours and desserts to choose from- Their Schmoo cake is also a hero kinda product and is good too but has too much caramel. So could be a liking if you love caramel. Blueberry swiss rolls are good too. Only thing is that they are bit pricey but with rising inflation everything is expensive so overall a good bakery good customer service and majority of the desserts are delicious and must try when around.

We asked for a black forest cake with buttercream icing and some white flowers on top. They decorated it perfectly, amazing work. There was real whipped cream inside, blew everyone's mind away. I don't know if it's the wonderful freshness, the knowledge that these are baked and designed with obvious love and care, the crazy good artistic designs that Leslie can craft on top of a cupcake, the friendliness of the owners or a combination of all of these but I honestly can't find an issue with anything here. The tea selection is great and though not a coffee drinker, having sent coffee connoisseurs to Nachelle's over the past year, when following up, all have said it is the best coffee in town. Some the best they've ever had. Some even legit Italian friends have said the best they've had since coming to Canada. I just wish more people knew about it. Ayesha Khan: I had an amazing experience ordeign with Nachelle. Im based out of Toronto and needed to send a box of goodies to family in Winnipeg. Lexi worked on my order over the phone. She sent me pictures of the fresh product the had at the bakery and sent me pictures of the finished boxes so I knew what they looked like. The payment process was easy and they sent me an online receipt rigth away. Really amazing service and taste is always stellar at Nachelle.

We were pleasantly surprised when they provided us with like 6 different flavour combinations to try when we came for our consultation. I am super picky and specific and they paid attention to every detail. Everything was beautiful and delicious and exactly what we asked for. Their prices are more than reasonable and they try their best to accommodate every budget and financial situation. Absolutely worth the trip down there!

An Prym: Love the bbq pork buns. had an opportunity to try their birthday cake, it's amazing! Has fruit inside and decorated with fresh fruit, icing is not as sweet as usual, surprising does not go soggy when kept chilled. Vanilla sponge cake makes for a light and very tasty desert . Will definitely order this cake and not just for birthdays.

Cassidy Roberts: Sweet Impressions had so many options to fit a wide variety of budgets for weddings. We were able to choose from dessert options such as cookies, cupcakes, and dainty squares, as well as a smaller cake for my husband and I to cut and share. They handled all of the setup and it looked so beautiful! They also matched the florals on the cake to our wedding flowers which was an extra bonus!
