The Fort Garry Hotel, Spa and Conference Centre: what do users think?

Robert Huskey: We stayed for 3 nights in mid-August while traveling in Canada. The location is great for getting around downtown Winnipeg. The hotel is very beautiful and the rooms are large and comfortable.I have to say that there were at least 4 weddings in the 3 nights that were there, so very popular.I would point out that teh Concierge was AWESOME. Jeannie Cole was on point and very helpful numerous times during our stay. Kudos to her.

David P: I love this place. I've come here for weddings, dinners, etc. It's always been a great experience. The hotel lobby is beautiful. Staff have always been helpful, kind, professional, etc. And somewhat random, the elevators move super fast from floor to floor!Walkability: So close to the Forks and downtown!

Christina Chan: .The hallways are literally wide enough for a horse and carriage to go through....no kidding! And the beds - 10/10. A nice quiet sleep in a comfy bed that's not too soft, not too hardWalkability: Great location within walking distance to many restaurants and attractions.

Dee and Bob Fenton: This was a superb experience from the ambience, the excellent service and the wonderful food. The wedding dinner was excellent and accommodated all appetites. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was excellent. Both made you want to stay in them forever! Staff were always helpful and friendly. Our room was quiet and very comfortable.Walkability: It was close to several attractions and excellent restaurants .Food & drinks: Any of the meals we had were superb. The dinner served at the wedding reception was outstanding.

Hanna Harrison: Gorgeous wedding venueHotel highlights Romantic …

Natalie C.: It’s a historical marvel! Large size stately rooms with 10 foot ceilings and chandeliers and double heavy curtains for those preferring to sleep with no light. Our corner room 128 consisted of two rooms, one with king size bed, a desk and a lovely sofa, plus a full living room and dining room, lovely white bathroom, with new soft towels, pillows and warm blanket selection, temperature control, It was not only comfortable but it was a treat to stay here. It’s a historic building with many statues and portraits. We had a lovely view from both sides as 128 is a corner suite. There is a restaurant. On weekends they also serve branch. It’s a lovely experience to have stayed here.

Angela Liles: Just excellent! Food was amazing and service second to none!Rooms: Beautiful rooms with ornate features and bed was so comfortable. Decor just gorgeous.Safety: Hotel was superb with good clientele which made you feel safe together with the presence of staff.Walkability: Close to all amenitiesFood & drinks: Delicious. Charcuterie board was delicious Muscles were superb and cooked to perfection. Crème brûlée absolutely spot on.

Mariaggi's Theme Suite Hotel and Spa: what do users think?

Erica Ring: Myself and husband stayed in the Hawaii room 2 years ago for his birthday and loved it and had to go back. We just spent 2 nights in the Egypt room for our 10 year anniversary and it was beautiful. We loved the room and the staff are always friendly and helpful. You literally feel like you are on vacation. Located in the heart of downtown you are in walking distance to restaurants , bars and small shops. We cannot wait for our next visit!

Sandi Altner: My husband and I recently had a wonderful stay at Marriagi’s with first class service and an unforgettable room—Jakarta. It had a pool table, a bar, pinball machines, a dart board, loads of lounge chairs, and a fireplace. All of this for the two of us in a lushly decorated room with a private balcony. This room, Manager Amanda, explained was regularly booked for special events, weddings, birthdays, corporate events, retirement parties and anything where you need a special environment to host up to 50 or 60 people. What a great place for a party!Mariaggi’s is hard to beat for location in the heart of the Exchange District. This historic district is my favourite walking neighborhood in Winnipeg and is close to many restaurants. We ate at Baily’s, a five minute walk from the hotel. It's still as beautiful as it ever was, and the food and service was first rate.I love the history of Mariaggi’s Hotel. It first opened in 1903, fulfilling the vision of Frank Mariaggi who created a lavish property with elegant dining rooms to attract the the rich and powerful who often mingled with the reporters who stopped in from nearby Newspaper Row.All of this makes Mariaggi’s a great pick in summer for those who come to Winnipeg to enjoy the many festivals and the history and night life in Winnipeg’s Exchange district. It’s also an ideal getaway for local residents looking for a special treat in the dead of winter. Who wouldn’t love to soak away the bone-chilling blast of a north wind in a sudsy hot tub with a glass of wine in hand?I highly recommend Mariaggi’s. The only issue some might have is a restriction imposed by Mariaggi’s status as an historic building. There is no elevator. But protecting history comes first, as it should.

Reborn Unicorn: The hotel it’s self is old and desperately need updating to the interior lobby and rooms. However it is clean and welcoming and not part of a larger chain of hotels so you get very customized and personal service. You need something unique or specific to your situation, the staff are discreet and very knowledgeable about the area and willing to accommodate most reasonable requests. Prices are average. Not cheap not hugely expensive.Rooms: Hotel is old and dated but clean and the rooms could be updated but still I give it the rooms a B+Nearby activities: Lots to do during the day like exploring the exchange or downtown. Lots of little cafes and restaurant from gourmet espressos to bubble tea. There is something for everyone. Try the poutine tie around the corner. it’s awesome. On the other hand stay in the hotel at night. It’s part of Winnipeg’s deadly downtown core and can be dangerous so be alert. There is nothing to do in the exchAnge at night besides hit up one of the dive bars nearby to play vlts at your own risk to health and safety. CSafety: Hotel is downtown/exchange district and Winnipegs Downtown is not a safe place if you don’t know it. There is no parking other than metered street and some rather far away lots so be careful when coming and going. DWalkability: The exchange district during the day is a bustling and lively place with lots of little independent shops and stores from a little Salvation Army Thrift store to a little high end brand name shop that sells all kinds of goods including $200 baseballs caps and $250 t-shirts that is directly across from the entrance of the hotel. All this is within a couple blocks.Food & drinks: No food and drink on site that I was aware of anyway. You’ll need to go out or order skip the dishes or Uber Eats or some other food delivery service. But most are quick. Just be sure to let the front desk know that you’re expecting delivery and they will bring it when it comes. BNoteworthy details: All rooms are themed and it’s a great place for couples to get romantic. Staff are friendly and very helpful. A+

Ryan Johnston: This was a wonderful experience for us. There were a few issues with a couple of rooms,, Some no fault of theirs.but Amanda took care of us, upgrading us to spectacular rooms. She took the time and effort to personally walk us through many rooms just to show us. This was a nice touch....Thanks, Amanda. We definitely will be back.... And thanks to Loewen... Great guy and very helpful.Pretty special place! Highly recommend 👌 👍 👏 🙌

Troy Waldron: This place was everything we could have hoped for and more! It felt like we were in Cuba as soon as we stepped into our room. The service was good, the rooms were very clean, and it's located in a fun area with lots to do...in case you decide to leave the room that is. All in all it was a great experience and we will be definitely trying out another room or two. Thanks again Mariaggis for the mini vacation!

k s: , and were helpful if we needed anything. Overall it was a neat first experience for a themed hotel, and can’t wait to book again!

Tracey Brandt: It was a delicious 3 course meal Italian feast and was delicious!I didn't want the night to end. This is absolutley a hidden gem in the exchange district.I took my husband back today to show him the hotel and once again Amanda

Angela O'Connell: Beautiful rooms, friendly staff and amazing atmosphere. Absolutely look forward to staying again.

jennifer paul: Great placeMarvelous for a real break from everyoneExcellent experienceMy son treated myself to Mother's Day 2023

Brooke D: My boyfriend and I went for his birthday. We booked the Hawaii room on the main floor. It’s a smaller, more affordable room in comparison to the other rooms. There are so many personal touches in the room that we appreciated. Fuzzy housecoats, candles, coffee and creamer in the fridge, shampoo and conditioner, and lotion. The decor had us in awe. It’s a beautiful room, but kinda small and no climate control. It was quite warm in the room, especially when we got the jacuzzi going. There was also some issues with the temperature of the water from the jacuzzi and shower. The hottest temperature was lukewarm. We went to the front desk for some help and the staff remedied our issues. They figured out the water temperature issue, and they showed us the switches for the fans in the room. They also brought us a stand up fan. After that, we were very comfy and enjoyed our time.Around 11pm, we noticed the guests above us were quite loud. Lots of loud thuds, what sounded like stomping. It was close to midnight when we went to the front desk to talk to someone. We then learned there was a party for someone turning 18, which we completely understood. What I really appreciated was how willing and eager they were to keep all of their guests happy. They gave us a massive upgrade to the Cuba room, free of charge. That way we weren’t directly under the other guests and they could continue having their fun.The Cuba room was gorgeous! Heated flooring, pool table, climate control, patio and very spacious. We were very comfortable and had a great sleep. There were some sirens at night, but it was a saturday night in the exchange. We weren’t surprised by that. They also gave us a 1pm check out, free of charge. We left the next day very happy with our stay. The staff really took care of us. Any issue we had, they went above and beyond. My recommendation for anyone looking to stay at Mariaggis is to book the bigger rooms. They’re much more comfortable and have more pizzazz. We’re already thinking about our next visit! Thanks for everything!

Vanessa: Room was beautiful with outside balcony, super cool sauna and jacuzzi and such! Spent all night running around the room, good sound system for stereo. Had the best stay for a night, not bad prices too!Rooms: Beautiful rooms with great service and many small attractions to keep you busy during your stay! Absolutely loved the jacuzzi and Bluetooth/LED light sauna.Walkability: Great history in and around the building, historical art and figures to look at as you walk through.Noteworthy details: Service is super friendly and have many different options and deals to provide. Beautiful stay, no complaints

Kelli Karlsen: The Mariaggi is the perfect place for a romantic staycation in Winnipeg. Each room is well thought out, beautifully designed. We felt like we were transported to a different world, lettings us forget about the cold Winnipeg Winter. The attention to detail and effort that they put into each room makes it a truly unique experience. The staff made sure that we had everything we needed to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. They really made the experience memorable, we were well taken care of before we stepped foot in the hotel. We stayed in the China and Jakarta room during our stay. We enjoyed all the amenities the Mariaggi had to offer. From the jacuzzi, to the hot sauna, the steam showers and the balcony overlooking the historic exchange district of Winnipeg. Each room is well curated and perfect for a romantic staycation, you won’t want to leave the room!Thank you for such an amazing experience Lowell and team! We can’t wait to come back
