St. Gianna Beretta Molla Roman Catholic Church & Living Waters Columbarium: what do users think?

Florian Garcia: Attended mass here every weekend since we got here last July 7. The place is very nice and peaceful.

David Friesen: Very nice service. The priest and people are very friendly. Can I join the church if i am not Catholic.

Stuart BURNS: Be part of something Great!

Ferdinand del Rosario: up until we moved to the beautiful new building in 2014 after 12 years of fundraising. The community has grown dramatically but the culture has remained closely knit and supportive. We have forged many lifelong friendships in this community.I do notice there are some negative reviews here about the church. There's no perfect church, but the community would love to hear from you on how we can become better, and we invite to you give St. Gianna's a second chance.

Duane Laturnus: Mass was very good. Good to be back,,God bless. 👍😎

Lorna Aquino: My family has joined St. Gianna’s when masses used to be held at the rented gym of Winnipeg Technical College at Scurfield Blvd. That was 16 years ago. Our parish priest Father Darrin Gurr is a visionary who have big dreams for the parish community. With his leadership, we all dreamt of building a church, and so we did. A decade after, with the help of parishioners and good-hearted sponsors, we built the church which housed the shrine of St. Gianna, the first one in Canada. Here we witnessed numerous testaments from couples conceiving after attending the Tuesday novena. We have the Adoration chapel, where the prayer ministries pray 24/7 for petitions sent from all over the world. The church’s most unique feature is the columbarium at the basement of the church, where my father lies. It gives us a feeling that he is still with us during the mass. I hope that when you come visit, you will be fortunate to witness our baptismal ceremony. My favorite part is when Father immerse the baby in the baptismal font at the narthex of the church, which shines light directly to the columbarium below. Making the connection between the newly baptized and those who have departed before us. It is touching every time Father Darrin raise the baby to introduce to the parish community, then bless everyone with the baptismal water while we renew our faith. In this modern day, not everyone is blessed to be part of something as great as building a church. As with other organizations, there are differing opinions and unfounded questioning of funds even though the church satisfies all financial audits, the documents speak for itself. It is sad to see people visiting this page and leaving negative reviews, whether based on personal experience or hearsay. But everybody is entitled to their own opinion. I just hope that people who are reading these reviews will not be dissuaded easily and come validate these views by visiting and joining our parish community. Give yourself a chance to personally witness what the church has to offer. You might find the spiritual upliftment you have been looking for. Blessings!

Perla Javate: I love St. Gianna Beretta Molla Parish Church and Parish Communityand I have so much respect and admiration for its Pastor,Rev. Fr. Darrin Gurr.St. Gianna Church, the physical structure, is a beautiful, modern building but it brings with it an ancient story and loads of meaning in the many special features of the church. One has to attend the orientation session for new parishioners given by Fr. Darrin to have a better understanding and appreciation of what it is all about and why we do thing the way we do. One is left in awe and wonder and realize how much thought and hard work was poured in the planning and building of our church.Everyone is welcome and made to feel welcome when they come to worship at St. Gianna Beretta Molla Church.Parishioners are very much encouraged to be part of ministries. Many of us enjoy the feeling of belonging by being participants in the various ministries. The process we follow where one can serve in one ministry for 3 years and then move on to another is a practice that is commendable because it allows for more participation. All ministries are well organized, efficient and operates like a well oiled machine. Our liturgies are very inspiring and meaningful. One notices the attention given to fine details and members of different ministries doing their tasks flawlessly that every liturgy becomes a memorable experience. I for one, look forward to every liturgy and special celebrations to be spiritually inspired and rejuvenated.Fr. Darrin's homilies bring to life the word of the Lord. He has a special gift in relating God's words to our present day realities which lends to aclearer understanding and appreciation of the gospel. All these: the building of a beautiful church, the building of a welcoming and caring parish community and liturgies and celebrations that are made special and meaningful for everyone are made possible by someone who has special leadership qualities: someone who has a vision, who is determined, persistent and patient, who is knowledgeable and translates things to action, who is caring and well respected. We are so blessed to have Fr. Darrin Gurr in our midst.

Dave Mulcair: . Get ready to sing! The Pastor, Fr. Darrin, clearly has a heart for souls and helping people to grow in the Catholic Faith and the spiritual life. I look forward to my next visit. With thanks.

Rebecca Skinner: posted defamatory allegations towards our priest and pastor, Father Darrin Gurr.I have been a Catholic for almost 60 years and this is the first time, that I truly feel like my church is my second family. I remember not only how welcomed I felt from the very beginning but also the refreshing way in which Father Darrin celebrated the Mass.He has taught all of us, so much about what it means to be an authentic faith filled Catholic community. Through his example and teachings he calls us to be the best version of ourselves, as true disciples of Christ. He is focused on teaching us that, as disciples of Christ, we must continue building community not only within the walls of our church, but outside and beyond as well.He provided the Sacrament of the Sick for both of my parents with such compassion and Faith we were so filled with gratitude for him.He is approachable and passionate about his faith and our community of St Gianna Beretta Molla Catholic Church, is a reflection of this.

Bj. Coombes: We hold our Priest, Father Darren Gurr, in high esteem and love him like a brother or a son.He is so caring and approachable -- always there, even on the spur of a moment, to give a special blessing or say a special prayer. A couple of instances come to mind, when I was suffering from health issues. He gave me the Anointing of the Sick with such encouraging and calming words. I wish they had been engraved in stone so I could keep them forever. Two words come to mind when I think of Father Darrin: Wisdom and Kindness.I admire his brilliant mind, his gentleness and his big heart. We are looking forward to more Kerygma talks. So uplifting, so informative! We feel that we are not only part of "something great", but part of a beautiful family.

Donna Sorokowski: I have been a parishioner of St. Gianna's since 2005. As of February 2019, I have been blessed to be a part of the incredible Pastoral Team of our Priest, Fr. Darrin, as the Representative of Living Waters Columbarium.Everyday when I come into St. Gianna's I am humbled to be here. I stop at the Baptismal Font and not only give gratitude for being able to worship in this sacred space, with my loving brothers and sisters in Christ, but also for the opportunity to be a part of Fr. Darrin's Pastoral Team. This team is supportive, positive, thoughtful of one another, caring and fun!I have grown in my spirituality personally and professionally under Fr. Darrin's guidance, as this team always works together to be the best it can be.We have been blessed with new families joining our parish and look forward to growing even more as a community in the future.
