Michael Forian: Our company hosted a reception for 50+ people followed by a sit down dinner at Beckta. It was — without a doubt — a phenomenal success thanks to the wonderful staff, incredible food, and excellent wine & cocktails! Beckta’s location is conveniently located in downtown Ottawa on Elgin, and is in a very distinguished historic building. Bottom line: we could not have picked a better spot to host our corporate reception, and our guests were thrilled. Thank you to Stephen, Sandy and the entire Beckta crew! Sean Kirady: I started with the “sage advice” cocktail. Delicious, but disappointed they put persecco in it instead of champagne per the menu. Service was very good, but a a few times we had to wait for plates while dishes were already on the table. My wife had the “bespoke” wine pairing and I had the “full”; on three occasions we were served the same wine which I found odd. The wines should be different labels in my opinion. The uni, baked oyster and pork belly were all amazing, the Foie Gras with focaccia took the cake in my opinion. We did the 40 bites tasting menu which comes in six “waves” with multiple dishes at once. Food was amazing overall I just felt the experience didn’t match the price tag - which of course can be remedied with small changes. Incredible overall and definitely recommended.

Joseph van Blokland: What a special relaxed atmosphere, with such good food.My wife and I had wonderful cocktails and a lovely bottle of Cabarnet Sauvignon.My caviar appetizer, with creme fresh and dill was delicious.I also shared a bit of the lobster on homemade pasta. Full lobster claw and tail, cooked perfectly.My main of potato crusted Fogo island cod was perfection.Service was great, and multiple staff came by to greet us as we were celebrating a special occasion.

Tara Glaude: What an absolute gem! Went for the first time with a couple of friends for dinner. The space is very inviting and we sat at the window which I always appreciate. Has a casual feel, but the cuisine is definitely upscale! My friend ordered the chicken and pierogis & said it tasted as good as it looked! And she is Polish so she knows her pierogis! My other friend and I ordered a couple of apps to share, the arancini and the salmon. WOW WOW WOW!!! Presentation was incredible, wish I’d pulled out my phone to capture, and the flavours! Absolutely incredible!!! I could have had a third app for sure but the 2 made a delectable light dinner 🤤Deserves all the exclamation points ok!!!! Joseph van Blokland: What a wonderful place. Started with an amazing warm salad, of perfectly cooked and seasoned vegetables. Then had a lamb shank, octopus and a veg lasagne.Great cocktails, Cabernet Sauvignon, and my wife's Argentinian shrimp pasta was perfectly done.Very attentive service, and was lucky enough to get a parking spot right out front.
Nik Mehta: packed up. The serving staff handled this with such professionalism and calmness it was astounding. Then after their food was brought out in take out containers, the medical issue subsided a little to where our friends decided they could at least have dinner at the table. Again, our server was amazing. "We'll just replate it!". Goodfella Ng: Nice upscale steakhouse restaurant in Ottawa. The atmosphere is great. We were greeted and led to a table without a reservation. We had scallop with peanut sauce, steamed mussels and steak with sautéed mushroom. The scallops were good but a bit dry. The mussels could have been a bit warmer. The steak was perfectly done and tasty.

Bit of a hiccup which meant we had to move tables, my mom was not happy, but they handled it so very well.Food was great along with the atmosphere, they had a great selection of sizes of steak - important especially when there is an elderly guest. The staff and food made this trip to a restaurant with my mom one of the best that I have had for very long time. Will be back for sure.
