The first rounds of drinks was a bit longer than expected, but once things got rolling, things moved at a steady pace. I had the stout which was on point. The food came out in waves, but this was expected given our ~20 person party.

We were there on May 10th for a special occasion and at one point a group of about 50 showed up and started getting very rowdy. The staff were able to calm them down so that we and all of the other guests could enjoy our time without being disturbed. I've worked in hospitality and I know that's not an easy task so kudos to you all.

Lina Barakat: I had my wedding reception here. The staff were super professional and accommodating in the planning process and set up. The food came out as buffet style but at the tables. there was a lot of food. Enough for each table to have seconds and thirds. The venue is gorgeous and the brewmaster room has tons of natural light as well as string lights.I have zero complaints and am so happy with how everything went. Everyone enjoyed the flavours of the food and loved the atmosphere.

Taleen D: This place is an absolute treat! Don't be fooled by the interior. The Belmont may look like an ordinary bar, but their food is equal to a fancy, fine dining restaurant. We ordered the vegetarian family style, which includes: trini doubles, endive salad, cauliflower, broccolini, mushroom on toast, & lemon cheesecake. Thinking it might be small portions, we also added the beef tartare. All the plates were generous portions! Everything was so delicious, and the cocktails were tasty too. Although we almost couldn't finish the food, we did, and were happily in a food coma afterwards. Highly recommend it! We'll be back for sure.

Michael Forian: Our company hosted a reception for 50+ people followed by a sit down dinner at Beckta. It was — without a doubt — a phenomenal success thanks to the wonderful staff, incredible food, and excellent wine & cocktails! Beckta’s location is conveniently located in downtown Ottawa on Elgin, and is in a very distinguished historic building. Bottom line: we could not have picked a better spot to host our corporate reception, and our guests were thrilled. Thank you to Stephen, Sandy and the entire Beckta crew! Has a casual feel, but the cuisine is definitely upscale! My friend ordered the chicken and pierogis & said it tasted as good as it looked! And she is Polish so she knows her pierogis! My other friend and I ordered a couple of apps to share, the arancini and the salmon. WOW WOW WOW!!! Presentation was incredible, wish I’d pulled out my phone to capture, and the flavours! Absolutely incredible!!! I could have had a third app for sure but the 2 made a delectable light dinner 🤤Deserves all the exclamation points ok!!!! Then had a lamb shank, octopus and a veg lasagne.Great cocktails, Cabernet Sauvignon, and my wife's Argentinian shrimp pasta was perfectly done.Very attentive service, and was lucky enough to get a parking spot right out front.

Then after their food was brought out in take out containers, the medical issue subsided a little to where our friends decided they could at least have dinner at the table. Again, our server was amazing. "We'll just replate it!". They didn't just dump it on the plate ..no, it looked like it was made fresh and plated right out of the kitchen.And, all food was a absolutely exceptional.Amazing experience.Go there...

Al Bel: I visit 1 Elgin Restaurant multiple times a year and most of the time, I enjoy the Resident Chefs' events, which happen at least four times a year.Every event is wonderful and memorable from multiple aspects, such as fantastic, unbelievable food. The always interesting social experience, along with pairing wine, adds additional excitement and unleashes friendly conversation within the table.It is always pleasant to attend these events where new chefs consistently bring something new and unique from different places around the world. The local chefs continually improve their knowledge, learn new things, and add new tricks to surprise visitors. It is directly reflects quality of the restaurant at the main floor.The feelings and atmosphere are always elevated as customers dine within spacious rooms upstairs, amplifying the vibrancy of every event.I am glad that Ottawa has several remarkable restaurants, and this one is truly worth visiting to enjoy the memorable Resident Chefs' events.
Francois Moreau: The internal parking corridors access to the restaurant in winter do not reflect the magical experience of this place.The food, service and attentive management was impeccable.I recommend the Boeuf Tartar which is the best I ever had in Canada.Although usually combined with a NAC show, I was concerned about feeling it would be rushed, our waitress managed a perfect timing to relax and enjoyed with my grown-up children.It's considered an expensive restaurant, but the experience that you get is of the level of the quality expected from the NAC.Highly recommended.
Tanya Whelan: Been there many times the show nights are crazy they somehow do 200 people fine dining in an hour and a half. If you go for lunch the vibes are quieter sitting on the patio in the summer is a must. Charcuterie plate is amazing all made in house local products too. Right now the beet salad is the best I’ve ever had. My mom love the house special on show nights and they always have a nice non alcoholic beverage.Vegetarian options: 50% of the time I get the vegetarian. Well thought out and delicious.Dietary restrictions: Always willing to help with any dietary restrictions.Parking: Parking is expensive but there is free parking along slater or surrounding areas. We always park there on a show night in the winter but they don’t offer pay for parking in advance anymore which is a shame.

Luc Laliberté: Particularly successful and tasty meal. The poor rating given to the service does not target the waitress, but rather her manager. Even though I had a good meal there, I will never return to this restaurant because of its attitude. We do not lecture in a condescending and contemptuous manner to a customer who has just paid more than $500 to honor the presence of colleagues who are dear to him. In front of my guests, he lectured me on the tip that he wanted to be at least 18% or more. I paid in cash and left the required amount. There was no tact or respect in the way he addressed me. I stay in Ottawa regularly and regularly invite friends. Next time I will invest more than $600 with a competitor.Dietary restrictions: They respect gluten free diet

Paul Dagg: Very nice restaurant with excellent service in the Germain Hotel. House pickles and roasted seasonal carrot salad were particularly good. Bar menu is small but well curated and cocktails were well balanced and crafted. My only complaint is that the restaurant prides itself on its focus on Canadian ingredients and food but the wine list is mostly non-Canadian. With so many good and varied wines from Canada available this is not necessary. I find this is unfortunately a characteristic of many restaurants in Canada but it is a time we learn to take as much pride in our wine as we do in our food.
Mac & Cheeses: Yet another great experience at the Norca restaurant!This establishment is innovative and exquisite.The word needs to be spread in order for people to be aware of this Ottawa gem!First of all the front desk staff is fantastic.So attentive… So hospitable…From the charismatic and professional gentleman that opens the door… to the funky girl with cool earrings that made sure we got to the parking lot safe.You could tell that she is a hawk when it comes to being costumer oriented.I will like to thank Lydia from the restaurant. She was not our server, but she was basically running the whole place by herself. Charming lady.I can’t wait to keep coming back to Norca and experience it’s authentic local flavours. Germain is the place to be!Parking: Don’t park across the street. It was 29$ for 2h. Park at Rideau center.
LuMi Naire: Very nice restaurant within the Le Germain Ottawa hotel.Went for the breakfast buffet only, none of the dinner options looked appetizing or tempted me.Breakfast buffet options are very good for a fair price. Would have loved that the chef would make the eggs to my liking instead of scrambled eggs like everywhere else.

Christine Stenger: We had an excellent lunch today! We stopped in while walking around town and did a walk in. I loved the art here and enjoyed the service. They have exceptional service. Our server was very knowledgeable about the foods, the cheese, the wine, and more. I felt like I was able to truly understand what I was eating and where the food was coming from. I love this level of details when eating out.The wine was amazing. The small plates are paired with suggested wines. And I have to say they definitely met the mark. I had two seafood plates. The fish patty and a mini fillet. The sides were perfect accompaniments. I also loved being able to see art from all directions. The restaurant is rather small but very central. Out the window I could see the Ottawa sign and tourist reveling in the fun of it.I highly recommend this for lunch!Vegetarian options: There was a African rice dish on the menu for lunch. I didn't have a chance to come back until yesterday, probably 6 years later. Let me tell you, that experience has not changed a bit. I have been to fancy restaurants like Bouchon and Blue Hill, and I still would pick Play over them in a heartbeat.The food is .... Mesmerizing. Their ramp gnocchi nearly made me cry of joy, the scallop crudo paired with that incredible Italian wine was mind blowing, and everything else, though not as memorable, was on point.We were served by Laureen, a Play's veteran who made us feel like longtime guests.Play is without a doubt one of the best restaurants I have been to in my life. Incredible and yet, perfectly accessible. You should never hesitate to come.
Quenby Joanette: I had a large party for my husband's birthday, but the waitstaff at Play seemed to effortlessly keep up with all 9 of us. We went for their wine list and were not disappointed. We split bottles of amazing wine between us, and it was genuinely an immersive experience. Who needs Prince Edward County or the Niagara region when you have Play? It was a tasting extravaganza and so very memorable. Thank you to everyone who made this a birthday to remember. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the staff funny and professional. Next time, we plan on eating the food rather than just raiding their wine cellar.
Sonya Gankina: Went for Valentine's day and came back this week. Always lovely service. Interesting unique high-end craft cocktails. Love the variation of food depending on seasonality. Nice to get an "appetizer" from top half of menu and a "main" from bottom half - the ramp gnocchi is unreal. Kitchen even put on extra blue cheese for me like I asked which was very sweet. Incredible value of two generous high-quality plates for $49 compared to other fine dining places. Atmosphere nice but not pretentious.
