Ballet develops the technique and foundations required to move forward in all other styles of dance. It is practiced in a more disciplined environment, as it is the most difficult to perfect. Classes are available in the Russian Vaganova method.

Focusing on technique and style, jazz is a high-energy form of dance that will enhance one’s originality. Inclusive of a good stretch, these classes will include learning jumps, turns, and different combinations.

An upbeat class based on rhythm and musicality, this style is another one to help all other genres. With an emphasis on counting music and different beats, students will learn to make music with their feet.

Acro is a class designed to build muscle and strengthen a dancer’s foundation. As well it will help to improve in flexibility. It combines acrobatic tricks with dance technique. Students will be trained on an individual basis, according to their skill level by qualified teachers.

These classes are for everybody! Hip hop is the most stylistic and dynamic form of dance, and is always evolving. In an energetic environment, you will develop confidence, style, and stamina.

For over 60 years, Greta Leeming Studio of Dance has offered the best in dance education. Our staff are all former professional or competitive dancers committed to furthering their education in their dance styles of focus and complementary fitness conditioning programs like Progressing Ballet Technique and Pilates.

Conveniently located just off the Queensway at Baseline and Merivale, our facility is home to 6 studio spaces, with recreational classes running Monday to Friday evenings and Saturdays.

Our recreational dance program is the perfect way to start or continue your education in dance. Starting at age 2 with our program for young children, dancers will learn the fundamentals of musicality and rhythm, moving all the way up through to our most advanced levels. We also welcome adult dancers of all experience levels, and offer a wide range of dance classes for adults who have never taken a dance class before to former competitive dancers who miss the studio atmosphere and structure.

About us Ottawa Dance Academy offers dance education for children and adults

Students study in a supportive, positive, and friendly environment. Our curriculum is created to make a balance between the technical growth and creative expression of the students. The dances classes are designed for the students to adapt to the professionalism and rigorousness that is offered. Our students are known across various dance competitions (such as Ticket To Broadway, Shine Dance Competition, Hit The Floor) to be very disciplined and well trained.

“The main goal of Ottawa Dance Academy is to teach our students the art of dance starting with the dance vocabulary up to semi-professional and professional performance.”

The programs are offered in beginners, pre-competitive and competitive level courses.

Beginner level courses focuses on the fundamentals of choreography, dance vocabulary, and easy dance routines. Students will be learning basic moves and theory of the style of dance that they chose.

As part of the curriculum, students receive high quality instruction in a broad range of dance forms including ballet, jazz, tap, and hip-hop. Additional class offerings include acro, contemporary and Glee Club.
