Mississauga Animal Services: what do users think?

Mish Castro: Amazing experience adopting our two boys six months ago. The support, the love, the effort from the shelter is priceless. I strongly suggest adopting from the Mississauga Humane Society

Bianca Kunkel: I found a house cat in my yard. It wouldn’t leave for over a week or two. My boyfriends grandma kept feeding it dangerous things like cake and hot dogs, and she wouldn’t stop. So I knocked on my neighbours doors to try and find the owners, when I was unsuccessful I decided to bring the cat here to find a better/safer home, or hopefully find the owners. Mississauga Animal Services seemed mad at me for doing that though. I thought I was doing the right thing. But I felt like it was the wrong thing after I left. It was a weird vibe. When I said why I was there she shook her head at me. Very unsettling. But I’m happy they took the cat in and the gentleman was very nice and reassured me this cat would very easily be adopted.

Stevie McKeeman: Fast response time. They were on location within 30 minutes from calling.

K T: and let me borrow a carrier for my big chonker, as she was too heavy for the cardboard case. There were so many lovely cats in the shelter. Two of which were very aggressive towards other kitties, but very nice cats when on their own. It made me think that a small curtain was needed for over the cat cages so that the aggressive kitties can roam in the room without being reactive to those in the cages. I wanted to take them all home!FYI to visitors. Even though shelter is open until 6pm, staff did not let me adopt or visit animals after 5:15pm as they "put them to bed". So if wanting a visit or adopt, go earlier in the day or be warned: you will be met by a grumpy staff member who will just want you to go away and to come back another day. Maybe that particular staff member was having a bad day? Regardless her attitude almost made us reconsider the adoption but I'm glad we did not. A simple shift in attitude is probably required if working a customer service desk. A positive greeting goes a long way even if you have to say no!

Atif Khan: 😻

IntroversionExposure -: I recently approached Mississauga Animal Services to report a cat lying down in my backyard that had appeared ill or injured. The cat seemed unconscious as it was swarmed by large flies with no response from the cat. As welI, the cat would not respond to my loud clapping.I quickly realized this poor animal was in need of medical help. I called the Animal Services, and after a few routine procedure related steps, they dispatched an officer to my location within half an hour.Strangely, by the time the agent arrived, the cat was gone and nowhere to be found in my backyard. But there were large dripping of blood and/or body fluids on the spot where the cat was seen.It is too bad that cat could not be helped and we do not know its fate. Nonetheless, I appreciate the quick response from the Animal Services to attain to the situation expediently. Zia.

Ranjana Sahai: Called them about a small dog I had found. They came within the hour to pick up the dog from my house on Saturday evening. The lady was very nice and also reassured me, explained what happens in such cases. Thank you MAS

Frank DC: This rescue gave me the best dog I could have ever imagined. A million stars!!!!

Sue Welsh: Very friendly

Sam Phoenix: Thank you for you great service, called them regarding a badly injured piegon at Dundas and Hurontario on Sunday evening and they responded positively and pickes the injured bird within 1 hr. Thank-you god bless you. I found the bird badly injured under a car which was about to squash the bird and it was not moving due to injuries

Margaret Partland: Such kindness and compassion when I brought my deceased cat in for cremation. I can’t thank them enough for their kindness at such a difficult time. They were truly caring.

World Animal Protection Canada: what do users think?

Janet Glancy: I donate. The canvassers need to change their approach. Stick to the facts. My call said it was from St Catharines but the caller said he lived in Vancouver. With so many scams it is important to assure donors you are legit. I did donate.

Make the World a Better Place: I have been donating to the organization since 2017. They send me their newsletter periodically. I'm impressed by their work and just glad I can be a little help. During the pandemic, I stopped my donation for a period because at that time I quit my full-time job. But I have restarted my monthly donation since I returned to work. If you ask me why I donate to them, I’ll say because this organization has been doing a great job of protecting the animals and we need to protect organizations like them

Annie Deng: They do good things for the animals. We need more organizations like them. We human should really protect the animals and the Mother Nature and do less damage to them, because earth is our shared home!

Anna Tokarchuk: , but let's not let one area that needs improvement tarnish what is an incredibly effective and important organization. Also people need to recognize that often, non-profits have a very hard time attracting and retaining skilled labour and leadership and investing in expensive technology

Daria Perevez: . The next morning we called Ontario Wildlife Rescue and just hearing a kind, caring and reassuring voice on the other end of the line was a huge relief. We brought the squirrel to Donna, the kindest soul who's been taking care of animals for over 20 years and she took it in right away, treated it and reassured that it will be fine. Very grateful to Donna and Ontario Wildlife Rescue!

MD S: Very responsive and a place that really cares about helping animals. Highly recommend in emergency situations for wildlife!

Mia Wowi: Thank You very much Donna for your care, knowledge and compassion. My friend and I found today little baby squirrel. I found on Internet info about Ontario Wildlife Rescue and I called them. Donna asked few question and had given to me precise instruction what to do with the baby squrrel. We did what she told us to do. When we arrived with the little one Donna showed not only knowledge about this type of animals but authentic love to living creatures. It was amazing experience for my friend and myself to meet Donna - so Special person. Thank you again to rescue little one. Barb and Mia.

Maya Martinez: This place is amazing! Found a 2 week old baby squirrel that fell from its nest and Ontario wildlife rescue came to pick it up! They were super friendly and helpful over the phone and in person. Other animal rescues denied the baby squirrel but this place took him in happily. You can really see that they care immensely for the animals and will do everything in their power to help injured or orphaned wildlife. Donna was absolutely wonderful. She is very knowledgeable and provided advice and reassurance. Her love for the animals is very clear and I knew without question the baby squirrel would be safe with her! I am so happy and grateful they were able to help the little squirrel! BEST WILDLIFE RESCUE EVER!!!! & Thank you so much Donna!

Oakville & Milton Humane Society: what do users think?

Erin Ruby: I recently adopted my cat, Cher, from this shelter, and it was probably the best decision I’ve ever made. The adoption process was smooth and thorough, and it was clear our agent, Avery, loved and cared for the animals in her care so much. I’m so grateful for her support and I recommend adopting from here 100%.

Linda Marie Wallace: They were kind when I brought my dog Paprika into be cremated and the cost was a fraction of the price of my vets.

Charmaine Branco: Such wonderful, compassionate employees that work here. They made the passing of our family pet a lot easier. The sympathy card we received a few days later was also really kind ❤️

ANNE BROWN: Very kind & caring when I brought in my deceased cat. Thank you

Karen Riddiford: We have had great success adopting 2 cats in succession from this shelter. Attached is the most recent Miss Phoebe. We previously had Melina. Both were beautiful animals who were exactly as described by shelter staff

Lori T: Dedicated to the care of all animals.Wildlife and domestic. One of the best shelters with the most dedicated group of volunteers anywhere....

Maria Paredes: Please don't shop, adopt!! All these beautiful animals need loving homes.

Jamie 123: Almost 2 months ago I adopted my kitty from this location. Such a great experience from start to finish.
