The River Trading Company: what do users think?

Ryan Aho: One of my favourite stores in the whole world!!🐈 😺

Jennifer Elizabeth: Great selection and larger than I expected. The owners were both very friendly and the resident cat is adorable. Highly recommend.

J C: Great little book store.

Dia Friedman: One of the nicest used bookstore I’ve ever been in. Amazing prices, super cool books. And they have vintage advertisements, and prints for a super reasonable price!! And the woman who runs it was an absolute sweetheart! Will be back again!

Mick: This is a great book store! There's a huge selection and prices are fair. The woman who runs it is very kind and helpful.I could spend hours in this store browsing!!Everything is organized very well, and she has stools you can sit on to browse the lower shelves. There are also art prints and book clippings available from old books and magazines, which are very cool. Other various small gifts. It's a great place to find a unique gift for a unique person.I highly recommend visiting!Metered parking is available, or free on a nearby residential street.

phraseography: Really nice bookstore, composed of three well layed out rooms. Tons of new and used books. The lady working the counter was very friendly and helpful. Parking on the street is easy to find. It is in a bit of a rough neighborhood.

Chris Wilson: There's something magical about The River Trading Company. It's the place you go if you're a lover of books. You could easily spend an hour browsing through the huge selection of quality books. I picked up 10 books for less than the price I would pay for two new hard covers. Super knowledgeable staff. Plenty of choices for whatever you love to read.

Stan Barber: Great selection and prices. Never really know what you'll find here. I've always gone with a couple things in mind--sometimes I've found them, sometimes not. But even when I don't find what I intended, I still leave having found something else. I think The River is also set apart from other stores by how well it's organized. Everything is arranged by genre and in alphabetical order by author's last name. I've found a lot of used bookstores are sort of chaotic with everything thrown wherever. Not the case here. The two owners are also very friendly and knowledgable. And there are very social cats here. I like this place.

David Harrison: A welcoming environment, excellent selection, and good prices. Small book stores with this kind of quality is a rarity these days. I'll definitely be going back.

Chad Every: As a lover of books, and in particular independent used book stores, The River Trading Company is one of the best I’ve ever been in. Their selection is wide ranging and the prices are the lowest I’ve ever seen in a used book store. Also, the store cat is a 10/10.

Kate DeJonge: Great little used book shop! Good prices and selection, books are good quality. The layout is fun, with small rooms at the back with more books!

Amy P: and the cats are so sweet. The owners are very friendly!

Simon Hare: . That book smell. A couple elegant tabbys lounging in the sun. Bibliophiles, this is a place for you.

TheRealMogwai: A lovely store with a relaxing atmosphere and fair prices. They accept trade ins but, like their inventory, the dollar amount is low. Great hours and pleasant owners.

Sam Thompson: One of the best used-book stores ever!

Audrey Sheridan: Wonderful staff, cute cats, and a unique selection! A bright place to spend your afternoon. Vintage prints, small crafts, and puzzles complement the books well. Enjoyed my time here greatly.

Westside Stories: what do users think?

Puspita Hossain: Fantastic books. Loved it.

Fateme Ghasemi: Awesome!

Tristan Penfold: Great selection, especially of old science fiction, good prices and very friendly staff, but i am tempted to deduct half a star because it's always so darn hot in the store... just kidding. I genuinely love this store and will continue popping in whenever I have an extra $20 or so, because I doubt I'll ever have any trouble finding a few books to grab.

Ken “kh” Heydrich: Very helpful and friendly !

Max Maurice: !

Jeff Hollick (Hollickster): Lovely little shop with a fantastic library of all sorts of in Westdale area. Honest values, and they also offer appraisal.

Brian Kowalewicz: Great sci fi section

Bryan Smith: Great variety/selection....stupendous staff!!UPDATE: 5 Aug 2022..ditto to above!!

Charles Small: but everything is extremely well-organized: history, psychology, religion, philosophy, classic literature, biography, literary fiction, gender studies, black literature, world literature, anthologies, poetry and more, all have their sections, and there is always a good turnover. Don't miss the downstairs -- there is a huge collection of science ficton and fantasy, including classic, pulp, retro, plus occult, crime fiction, classic Penguins, young adult lit and more.

Cindy: An incredible bookstore with a huge variety of new and old books, reasonable prices and really lovely people running the shop.

Tim Reynolds: West Side Stories is an excellent book store that has quality items in it. The people who run the store are very knowledgeable and very helpful in regards to books. Pricing is fair in there. They are definitely following covid-19 guidelines and the store is very clean. It is also very organized and I had no trouble finding what I wanted in there. They also carry an interesting selection of rare books I highly recommend this store

Matthew Conry: Awesome used books store. I collect paperbacks by a number of authors in a variety of genres. I am always able to find something I want here. A truly great shop run by a friendly, knowledgeable couple who pay attention to their customer's preferences and have their shelves well organized.

ron johnson: My sci Fi go to. Wonderful selection. Thanks again

James Street Bookseller & Gallery: what do users think?

Josiah Nahwegahbow: The most amazing little bookstore. You have to call to make an appointment, but it's absolutely worth it. May seem odd to do so, but it's easy to make happen. If you are a bookworm or love cozy bookstores, then you have arrived. The owner was lovely and very helpful!

Jacqueline Kagasov: Such a beautiful book store with so many beautiful books, not like ordinary book stores. I would definitely recommend and will for sure come again, the owner was also very kind!

Tyler Chabot: This afternoon I opted for an in-store pick-up by appointment as opposed to the free local delivery option as I was hoping to have a chance to browse the superb collection, attempt to spy some hidden gems and hopefully have some questions answered. This was clearly the correct choice as I was warmly welcomed and all my needs were met by the amazing woman tending to this store. Shopping right now is limited to appointment only but that is more than acceptable given the currently situation our city is dealing with. We are all in this together. Please wear your mask when visiting.Snagging a Kaweco in Bordeaux and leaving fulfilled, I will be returning at my earliest opportunity!May 13, 2022.

Giordan Kovacs: I have to admit that James Street bookseller is thee essential bookseller in the Hamilton downtown. Soon she'll need bookcases on the ceiling.

NatashaS Duckett: Very cool, love old books and the way they smell, I know im weird like that lol

Greg Forsyth (Le Saboteur): This is the kind of bookstore you think only exists in film or TV, no wonder a bunch of productions have filmed in here. So cozy and beautiful inside. I could spend a long time just searching for new reads in here. Absolute must see place in Hamilton for book lovers.

Sam: A shop for the curios, nostalgic, and romantic. Books from your childhood and centuries past. Fountain pens and writing utensils of various values and warm leather arm chairs to review your finds. Has been featured in many films and television shows.Take your date here and show him/her your intellectually mysterious side.

Supriya Thukral: I did engagement photos for a couple here. Monique was really nice! And the bookstore was perfect for the photos

Nik Crawford: An appealingly appointed book store, it's like stepping into someone's curated personal study. A wide variety of aged and rarer volumes. Less selection of more contemporary titles than other used bookstores in the downtown area and a little pricier all around. That being said, the proprietor was extremely helpful and very friendly, and the quality of the older books was excellent.

pro vocation: . A place like Chapters Indigo has it's place sure, but everything in me that craves that magical feeling, comes here first.

Michaela Storoschuk: A very unique and niche bookstore that hosted a lovely art show. The vibes were thoughtful, lowlit and green. The people were kind and informative. The book selection itself was the most curated that I’ve ever seen before with books fanning from pop fiction, history, religious texts and smut. 10/10

Melanie Fitzgibbon: Great shop with an excellent selection of new and used. I went in knowing what I wanted from the online store, but there’s so much to browse once you’re inside. Will definitely be back.

Karen Sutherland: The owners of The City and The City are super knowledgeable and very friendly. They recommend the perfect books and take care to understand the needs of their customers.
