The Hamilton Aviary (Friends of the Aviary): what do users think?

Annie Duncan: Finally found myself in Hamilton on a Sunday afternoon and was able to visit during their open house from 1pm to 5pm.The building was very warm as it was a humid and hot day. The birds loved it, not so much for the other humans I was with.We got to watch all the birds within their cages and learned a little bit about each bird from their personality to having a quick conversation.

JAY LENNNON: Been going for 23 years. Hamilton hidden gem .

Scott Skinner: I love it here

Екатерина Андреева: We visited this place on Sunday. Very friendly people are there. We were impressed. Cool birds, a cozy yard.❤️👍🏻👍🏻

Blue Orchid: It's a wonderful place to go to visit a bunch of beautiful birds .Also, walk around the grounds, there are beautiful gardens .

Sophia Yang: Genuinely one of my favourite places I’ve been to in the GTA, worth the drive. The birds are so cute and the staff are very kind, there is a really nice trail/park right next to it. I’m definitely going to come back another time!

Derek Garvey: Friendly staff and a great experience with different birds. Definitely worth the visit

Marianna Freeborn: I have visited the Aviary since I was a little girl and it was at Dundurn Castle. I took my kids every year when they were children. Now I have taken my granddaughter. Thank you to the fabulous volunteers for all you do!

Anna Xia: Amazing place!! The birds were great and each one had their own personality. We got a free tour from Makayla; she was super knowledgeable and friendly! There is also a community garden in the area, which was fun to walk through. Definitely a gem near McMaster university and a great place to support.

Tanya “Smokin’Granmommy” Marie: Friendly

Body Brave: what do users think?

Lisa Sawada: Body Brave is such an accepting and inclusive community that provides eating disorder support both in-person and virtually. Their services have been so valuable in my journey to recovery.

Beverly “StrayNoodles” Campbell: Body Brave offers very good support programs and the staff are knowledgeable, kind, and supportive as well. Highly recommend.

Dana Garcia: I am beyond grateful for my experience at Body Brave. Sonia, Marsha, Alexis, Courtenay and Janet created such a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental space to share our thoughts. I learned so many new and life changing tools to use on my recovery journey and feel so proud of my progress since joining the support group. The inclusive and supportive approach made me feel understood and not alone in my recovery. The group gave me the confidence and courage to speak my truth and seek help from a dietician and psychotherapist to add to my support team. Thank you for this organization! The work you do is so impactful and I am forever grateful!

Julia Ventresca: Cannot say enough good things about Body Brave. Their virtual support groups have given me so much strength and a community of vulnerable individuals who inspire me to keep going during the tough days.

Azizah Asgarali: This organization provided the support I needed to achieve and maintain recovery. They truly saved my life. I cannot say enough good things about the facilitators, the organization, and all the patients that come through here. They helped me learn how to identify so many patterns and thoughts that I was not seeing, and they helped me learn how to reframe thoughts, how to accept the difficult, and so much more. I wish I could go into detail about every single thing. Each session is so worth it. You'll learn that you have value, that you matter, that you are worth it, and that you are not a burden. An outstanding organization to support. Thank you to everyone at Body Brave.

Kim: would break people's bank.

A H: This amazing organization helped me establish tools to make living with disordered eating manageable. If you have any questions, concerns about disordered eating Body Brave can help you.

Hayley Booker: I have recently completed my student placement for my Bachelors program at Body Brave and have taken away so much knowledge and experience from this amazing organization!Body Brave has created a safe and welcoming space that not only supports individuals, but also provides an amazing opportunity for student placements and volunteer positions. The work being done at Body Brave is truly amazing and I am so thankful for such an incredible opportunity!

Daniela F: Being a Public Relations Intern at Body Brave was a good experience. I learned a lot about social media, was able to explore my creative side through content creation, and was able develop/enhance some personal & professional skills. I think the most valuable part, however, was being able to learn more about the ED world. This is something that I had minimal knowledge on before and this position really educated and enlightened me in that regard. I also enjoyed being part of a team working towards educating, helping, and breaking the stigma around EDs and other body-related struggles!

Mira Rostami: I have had the pleasure of facilitating mindfulness at Body Brave. Body Brave is an amazing organization that provides free programs and resources that are uniquely designed to meet the needs of the clients and their families. Body Brave has become a community for many, to holistically address all aspects of their health and recovery. I always feel at home when I am at Body Brave and truly enjoyed facilitating mindfulness in a safe, inviting and non-judgmental place.Thank you Sonia for providing this amazing opportunity for such needed program.

Jaime Drayer: I’ve been attending yoga classes and workshops and receiving therapy at Body Brave since the summer of 2017. I am so incredibly grateful for the essential and accessible services this wonderful organization provides. Sonia is professional and approachable, and with her history as an ED survivor, you truly feel understood. Dr. Trollope is a warm and welcoming therapist, making sessions comfortable even when the topics of discussion become uncomfortable. The layout of the space really makes you feel at home. I am personally making great progress in my recovery thanks to Body Brave. I was so fortunate to find this organization in our community!

Michael Van Arragon: A wonderful community space where recovery lives in the comfortable, happy and encouraging spirit of the program.Excellent peer interaction and fantastic professional support. I feel very lucky to have this resource in my life.

Suyash Kumar: A safe space. Sonia is so knowledgeable and empathetic. Highly recommended
