GBTC offers acting, drama and theatre arts programs for young people throughout the year.


GBTC's enthusiastic, caring staff create a warm, supportive environment where students will feel at home, and be ready to explore and discover.


Through the Fall, Winter and Spring, we provide programs of classes, for ages 6-to-8 and 9-to-14.

Our programs for ages 6 to 14 include plays, mime, improvisation, theatre games, musical theatre, work with simple sets and costumes, and a concluding public performance. In selected programs we also offer specializations such as storytelling, mask-making, rap, comedy, stage combat and video.

Our full-day camp programs, offered during July and August and also during March Break, also include outdoor activities, games and sports.

Our ongoing program of classes provide an excellent, graduated approach to developing skills and confidence in our young actors and performers.

Our young students (ages 6 to 8) work with voice, movement, simple songs and choreography, traditional stories, legends and folktales, and costume elements, to develop basic drama and self-presentation skills.

Intermediate-level students (ages 9 to 14) will continue their development through scripted and unscripted work, playwriting, improv, blocking, the elements of stage presentation, character development, and the basics of musical theare.

Preschool-level students (ages 3 to 5) work with imaginative play, storytelling, movement and music to develop physical, social and personal skills.

4worldlovers: A company of people with a passion for live community theatre, The Players’ Guild of Hamilton, Inc. has played an essential role in Hamilton’s performing arts scene for over 140 years.

The Guild is a registered charity, completely volunteer-based and managed by an elected board of directors, who are active members of the group.

Our mission is rooted in not just teaching, but instilling the essence of improv comedy into every eager learner. Our adept instructors utilize a robust online curriculum, meticulously crafted to enhance various skills – attentive listening, dynamic character creation, and seamless story collaboration.

Most importantly, we believe in embedding fun into the heart of learning. At Staircase Improv, we ensure an engaging, exhilarating experience that transcends the traditional classroom boundaries and culminates in a joy-filled exploration of the improv comedy world. Come, step up your game with us, and discover the infinite potential of your spontaneous creativity!

The feedback series workshop will train participants in the power of safe and supportive feedback. Discover the art of giving feedback in a constructive and uplifting way, fostering a positive learning environment. The workshop will use a structured feedback mechanism, that avoids both judgement and “should haves and could haves.” Practise makes permanent, not perfect without feedback.

Whether you’re an improv enthusiast or a beginner, this workshop will enhance your feedback and improv comedy skills. Your instructor is Hugh. He is the executive director of Staircase Improv, and the creator of learnimprov.com.

$80+ fees includes: four small-group workshops August2, 9, 16, 23 and admission to the jam/mini-show in August.

In this 3-week workshop series, improvisers will explore the theory behind scenework using Staircase Improv curriculum with a strong focus on LACE: Listen-Accept-Commit-Expand. They will get a practical introduction to long form improv concepts from the foundational book, Truth in Comedy. On week 4, they will showcase their skills at the monthly Staircase jam!

Participants will learn how to bring their authentic selves to the stage to create impactful scenes. We’ll create a brave space and provide the various improv tools necessary to: discover your voice, make big choices, stay connected to your fellow improvisers, and find the heart of an improv scene.

We’ll tie it all together so you can discover why “the truth is funny”! (Halpern, Close, and Johnson)

$60 + fees includes: three small-group workshops July 5, 12, 19 and admission to the jam/mini-show in August.

A bespoke series is where a self organizing group picks a time, duration, and instructor(s) that suits their needs. Pricing varies by number of participants and duration of the series.
