Nice tasting food, could be cooked in better oil though and bit overpriced for the portion/plating and level of hospitality I received...Waitress was disconnected, did the minimum, not warm or engaging..it wasn't busy and I was a single diner. I was located upstairs where no one came around to ask for things. Hostess made a very nice impression so was surprised how cold the service was. All staff could be found sitting & chatting by the kitchen throughout the duration of my visit.I think many people would enjoy this place on the right day and with a better server...but I personally wouldn't return. The staff left a big impression, if im spending $20++tip on a burger for dine in, I would like more genuine hospitality/warmer atmosphere.Cool concept overall for location, but misses the mark for me personally.

D Lamb: Toby's hands down has the best 'home cooked' meals. Super friendly staff and the food is delicious. Clean environment and you feel like you're visit family for a meal. Matt is super friendly and attentive. Can't wait to go back and try another meal. C. Lee: My coworkers and I have been coming here for about a year or so, and the service and food is always excellent. One thing I noticed that rekindled my faith in humanity is that Toby's allows a few houseless people sit and drink coffee when its very cold outside. Thank goodness someone in this city has a sense of responsibility for our fellow people. I hope Toby's never leaves Jackson Square!

The chef has a gift beyond talent, I’m completely blown away but the quality, execution and consistency of my meals here. PERFECT octopus, beyond flavourful and silky risotto, thick cut salmon, it’s unmatched. Price point is reflective of the quality your getting, it’s high for the area but I prioritize an above and beyond meal here over even my other favourites. It’s incomparable. Ricky and Gary remember absolutely everything from my visits when I come through, they are both so personable and work together well to make us laugh and feel so welcomed and catered too. They indulge me completely and I truly feel like I’m being hosted by friends. Highly highly recommend. Go see the renovation alone, it’s magic how they transformed that space and refreshed such beautiful features in the building. I love their taste in decor. Truly a place to impress. I started with the wedge salad, scallops and ordered the tenderloin with the lyonnaise potato and vegetables as my main. Everything was outstanding, the steak was grilled to perfection with the perfect seasoning. Can’t wait to come back!

delores maas: We attended the Conversate Restaurant originally for my daughters birthday in April and we experienced a couple of new opening learning issues that had nothing to do with the exceptional food. We spoke with Jessica and she handled our situation in such a positive and appreciative manner that we returned and received a personal treatment that was above and beyond what I have experienced anywhere. The food was exceptional, our server was knowledgeable about the food and made excellent suggestions to help us choose from the many delicious sounding dishes. We had a beautiful tomato based butter with soft warm bread. We each had a delicious appetizer, entree and shared desserts. We enjoyed our meals with wine and would highly recommend you plan to make attending this restaurant a relaxed experience and enjoy without rushing through each course. Cassandra Gonzales: Pictured here are the The French Onion burger with Cajun fries and the Duck Wings with honey lime sriracha - damn delicious! The burger was hella tasty and just loaded with toppings. They didn’t skimp on the cajun seasoning on the fries at all. My only complaint would be to leave more of the meat on the duck wings, they’re so yummy. Oh, and their homemade ketchup is amazing!We sat out in the front patio, which they could definitely add a few more tables at. Service was SO kind and attentive. Definitely need to come back at try their other burgers.
Chase Robertson: Southern catfish was so great! The only reason I’m giving 4/5 is because the fries were definitely over salted. I was drinking quite a bit of water just to only eat about half. Enough about that though because the flavor of the catfish was so great!Vibes were immaculate. Such a chill spot. Timothy Smith: Had a great meal here. Was walking by with my date while on the wait list for another nearby restaurant. We loved the look of their large patio area, so cancelled the other place and went in. Food, service, and atmosphere were all superb! They had two soups-of-the-day to choose from, which was a pleasant surprise. We'll be back for sure!

Food and drinks were great. The standouts were the broccoli appetizer and an exceptionally good negroni. Lots of good memories at this place, you will be missed!

Amanda Stewart Reiser: This has been on my list for SO long and I’m happy we finally got to try it. It’s a great spot on Locke in an old building, candlelit ambience and comfy booths. The food was amazing - pretzels, schnitzel and chocolate torte were all delicious. Solid beer selection and cocktail list as well. A little pricey but the meal was fantastic so you truly get what you pay for.
Olivia Adam: My first time coming here for my birthday dinner and I must say, everything about this place is exceptional. If I were put on death row, I would choose their pork belly as my final meal. Our server was lovely, the food was beyond amazing, and the whole atmosphere really tied in the experience. Left my boyfriend and I speechless by the end of our night. Phenomenal.

One of the best chicken schnitzels dinners I have had. My wife had the seared trout and it looked almost too perfect to eat. The drink menu was quite extensive and had a nice selection. Highly recommend to check this restaurant out.

For a Monday evening the place was busy, which was nice to see.As an FYI, there is no parking onsite but we found plenty of street parking and if you plan to indulge, a taxi/Uber is the best option. 5 stars all around!! Tiffany Leung: I took my family of 10 here for dinner from China and they were incredibly impressed with the food, presentation, and the level of service received by Lois! Without question, they had placed our large group in a private dining room, our waters were constantly refilled and asked how we were doing. We ordered 3 bone-in ribeye steaks and a few of their sides, the 1000 layer potato comes highly recommended and did not disappoint. This place was a show stopper and would return for a date night for a more intimate experience.
