We provide crisis intervention, safe housing, and education to empower individuals experiencing violence, and encourage their new start. WIN House provides support from the moment someone calls to well after leaving the shelters.

You may notice that we don't refer to the individuals we support as victims or survivors - we use "people we serve", or "Champions".

Champions are brave. They also know one decision can make all the difference. Champions struggle as much as they win. BUT the one thing that Champions have in common is that they have people in their corner. That is the biggest support we can offer to everyone who walks through our doors: to ensure them they are safe and we are in their corner.

WIN House knows that trans women are women. All people fleeing violence who identify as a woman or are non-binary are accepted. We offer a safe and inclusive space, without exception.

4worldlovers: Kindred House offers a non-judgmental space for sex workers that is grounded in harm-reduction and trauma informed practice. Women, transgender, and two-spirited individuals are provided with shelter and nutritious meals, as well as community resources.

Community members are able to share in nutritious meals, receive and share information on available community resources.

This fall, the new Herb Jamieson Centre will open as a safe and stable environment where lives can be changed.

Since 1929, Hope Mission’s mandate has been to provide emergency care for men, women, and children in need.

Mark is one of the hundreds of people who come to the doors of Hope Mission in need of help. Struggling with a personal crisis and addiction, Mark lost everything and found himself at the doors of Hope Mission.

“I had nothing left and this place was my last hope”

It was through the care and support from our donors that Hope Mission was able to welcome him in with open arms.

This is Hope Mission’s purpose: partnering with you to give hope to people just like Mark. We believe that the provision of basic needs—a hot meal, a warm bed and clothing—can be the first step towards hope like it was for Mark. Now he is working, and facing a good future, all because of you.

We know there will always be people like Mark who need help. Our vision is that no one who needs emergency care is left alone: Together we can provide shelter for people in need.

You might not be aware of this, but Hope Mission’s Herb Jamieson Centre – the primary shelter for Edmonton’s homeless men – was an old, tired, and unsafe building. If we didn’t rebuild the Herb Jamieson Centre, we would not be able to care for everyone who came to our doors.

In February of 2020, the old building was torn down to prepare for a brand new Herb Jamieson Centre.

Today, we are deeply grateful and excited to announce the new Herb Jamieson Centre: a safe and stable environment where people’s lives can be changed.

The new Herb Jamieson Centre is a 24/7 emergency shelter with capacity for over 400 people. Safe and wheelchair accessible, the new Herb Jamieson Centre will connect people to housing, medical help, spiritual counselling and addiction recovery programs that will bring lasting change.

We want to say thank you to the 4,595 different Albertan’s who gave to the rebuilding of the Herb Jamieson Centre. Each of their dollars were matched by the Provincial and Federal Governments and we are now finished fundraising for this $16 million project.

We were so touched and blessed by the outpouring of care so that Edmonton’s most vulnerable homeless neighbours could access a safe and stable environment where their lives can be changed.

As I look forward to the future, I feel a tremendous sense of gratitude. The new Herb Jamieson Centre is going to be a beacon of hope for people who are really struggling right now — and for generations to come.
