The interior of our Church is designed to illustrate our journey in faith using our Native and Métis culture.

As the National Catholic parish for First Peoples in Canada, we use sweetgrass, sage, cedar, and tobacco, as well as drums in our liturgy, and we sing songs that speak deeply to us. We extend the hand of friendship to all our brothers and sisters worldwide, to share in the hopes and faith of the People of the First Nations and Métis Nation by listening to God’s Word and by breaking bread with us.

4worldlovers: We have an opportunity for a Receptionist/Administrative Assistant at St. Joseph Basilica in Edmonton. This full time position of 35 hours a week is responsible to provide support for the Pastor, office staff and parishioners. Duties overall will include reception, secretarial, communications, programs and administrative support. Systems knowledge in records management database such as Sage and Parish Friendly, Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher and social media platforms such as Facebook.

The applicant will be personable, service oriented, a good communicator both verbal and written, and be able to maintain harmonious relationships with priests, volunteers, parishioners and visitors. They will also be able to lift 30 pounds and be comfortable climbing stairs. This position may require some weekend, holiday and evening work for events and meetings.

St. Joseph’s Basilica is seeking a part-time (21 hours per week) caretaker. This position will involve caretaking and maintenance services for the parish buildings (church, rectory, garage, halls and other premises) and the church grounds.

The applicant will be able to lift 50 pounds, be comfortable climbing stairs and ladders, and possess adequate strength and endurance to perform the manual work required. The position will be guaranteed 21 hours per week with the possibility of extra hours during busy times of the liturgical season.

The CWL of St. Joseph’s Basilica will be holding their annual brunch on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 12pm. The brunch will take place in O'Leary Hall of the Basilica.

$40 tickets are available for purchase before and after Saturday and Sunday Masses from August 5th to August 27th, and at the Parish Office during office hours.
