Patill Insurance Agencies was established in the heart of St. James in 1968 by Pat and Bill Coleman. Patill Agencies was created by combining their names!

From their home on Harcourt Street, Pat and Bill built the business from the ground up. Always the charismatic salesman, Bill earned the trust of his clients by providing the excellent service and care of their clients’ needs that made the business grow. Patill Agencies was a family business in the truest sense of the word. Friends and neighbours came to work for Patill, and it became a neighbourhood fixture.

In 1978, son Jeff joined the team and having outgrown the family home/office, Patill Insurance moved a few blocks from the Coleman house to 2649 Portage Avenue in St. James, where it is still located today. Jeff subsequently became the President and sole owner as Bill and Pat slowly retired from the business. Bill passed away in 2003 knowing the business was in Jeff’s capable hands. Pat still pops into the office from time to time and enjoys visiting with clients and friends…some of whom who have been loyal to Patill / St James Insurance for many of our 50+ years.

Along with his wife Penny and many loyal and dedicated staff, Jeff has grown the business significantly through referrals by happy clients, acquisitions of other agencies and good old-fashioned hard work. Customer service, the foundation of Bill and Pat’s vision for the business remains the cornerstone of our success.
