Some of our services are provided by Clinical Associates working in consultation with and under the supervision of a registered psychologist. Associates have training at the Master’s Degree level in psychology and have extensive experience in assessment and treatment of mental health related difficulties. A registered clinical psychologist is a specialist in the diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of mental health difficulties. Generally, a registered clinical psychologist has a doctorate degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in psychology and the additional specialization in the clinical branch of psychology, such as cognitive behavior therapy, anxiety disorders, etc.. A clinical psychologist usually spends about 11 to 12 years in university study to obtain their final credentials. This requires: three or four years of university study in order to obtain a B.A. or B.A. Honours degree, three years of university study to obtain a Masters Degree in Psychology, four or more years of study and research to obtain the Ph.D. degree, and a one to two year internship in clinical psychology. In Manitoba, practicing registered psychologists must be registered with the Psychological Association of Manitoba.
