Dr. Rahman received her BSc (Honours) in Biology at Queen's University in 1991, and subsequently graduated from medical school at the University of Manitoba in 1997. She returned to Queen's University to complete a residency program in ophthalmology in 2002, during which time she served as chief resident for a double term. After graduating from residency, she worked with Orbis International's DC-10 "Flying Eye Hospital" and contributed to teaching and service programs in several countries including Bangladesh, India, China, Ethiopia and Tanzania. On return to Canada, she completed a one-year fellowship in glaucoma at Dalhousie University (2004-2005). Dr. Rahman has been practicing since 2003, and is the Medical Director and CEO of GEM Clinic (eStreet 2011). Dr. Rahman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Manitoba and teaches medical students, residents, and glaucoma fellows. She received a Mentor Teaching award from the Medical School class of 2018 and is actively involved in clinical research. Dr. Rahman volunteers as a VI Classifier for the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) to classify visually impaired athletes for their sporting competitions. She is also a board member of the Misericordia Foundation.


Dr. Dookeran has been working in Winnipeg since 2006 in the Misericordia Hospital and Winnipeg Clinic. He runs a surgical and medical Retinal practice serving all of Manitoba, Nunavut and western Ontario. After completing his medical school training at the University of Manitoba and ophthalmology residency in Edmonton at the University of Alberta, Dr. Dookeran went on to complete a 2-year surgical and medical Retina fellowship at McGill University.


Dr. Dookeran is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Manitoba and is actively involved in clinical research having authored numerous publications. He has served as Faculty Lead for the retina section of the ophthalmology residency program and on the Residency Program Committee for over 8 years. He received the "Teacher of the Year" award in 2017 for his excellence and commitment to teaching. As an active speaker, Dr. Dookeran has given lectures and spoken at conferences at a local, national and international level and even worked with The Learning Channel, participating in the medical educational series Doctorology with Canadian comedian Leslie Nielsen.


Dr. Dookeran has served on the national board of the CNIB Patient Advocacy Committee for 3 years and continues to work with government to help create policies that benefit the lives of the visually impaired across Canada. Dr. Dookeran has been actively involved in developing a Teleophthalmology program and serves as the medical director of the Manitoba Retinal Screening and Vision Program (MRSVP). This service has been successfully running since 2004, covering much of Northern Manitoba and has become one of the largest across Canada.


Dr. Mis has an interest in seeing patients with intraocular and conjunctival tumors, as well as patients with general ophthalmology problems, primarily cataracts. He graduated from the University of Manitoba School of Medicine in 1988 and completed his residency in ophthalmology at McGill University in 1995. He later went on to do a fellowship in Ocular Oncology at the University of Toronto. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Manitoba and also has an interest in doing outreach ophthalmology clinics in Carman, Flin Flon and Thompson.


Dr. Aguayo was born and raised in Chile where he attended medical school at the University of Chile, graduating in 1998. After training in General Surgery and Public Health, he entered an ophthalmology residency at the University of Chile, which he completed in April 2006. After graduation, he started working as an ophthalmologist at the University of Chile's Clinical Hospital, serving part of his time in the Glaucoma Unit. He later became an Assistant Professor with the University of Chile. He also practiced in private hospitals and clinics at this time, collaborating with other colleagues in glaucoma, anterior segment and refractive surgery. In 2014, he traveled with his family to Canada to commence a two-year fellowship program in Glaucoma and Anterior Segment Surgery at the University of Toronto. He now resides in Winnipeg and practices at GEM Clinic.
