During this year of celebration, the Holy Door—the only one outside of Europe—will welcome people from everywhere who which to experience, in crossing it, a spiritual process. For Christians, this symbolic passage is done through Jesus Christ.

During its inaugural year, in 2014, over 335 000 people passed though the only Holy Door in American. It was again opened during the Jubily of Mercy requested by Pope Francis in 2016, and the Holy Door will seemingly be opened again in 2025, for the Jubilee of the Universal Catholic Church. ​As there were difficulties for downtown parishioners to attend mass uptown during winter and the same difficulties for priests to go downtown to help dying people during the cold season, Msgr François de Laval obtained from the King of France a land to build a second church in the parish. Therefore, they began building Notre-Dame-des-Victoires church in Lower Québec in 1688, and enlarged it to its final size in 1723.
