Shannon: Dear Fellow Ottawans leaving scathing reviews: kindly check your privilege & refrain from taking your misplaced anger/frustrations out on the doctors & nurses doing their absolute best to provide your children with quality medical attention as they simultaneously bear the weight of a collapsed healthcare system + the strain of staff shortages. Thank your government & systemic failures for the current state of things. CHEO is one of the highest ranking children's hospitals in Canada for a reason, & the vast majority of these 1-star reviews demonstrate a profound lack of understanding as to what constitutes a *medical emergency* while also showcasing shocking degrees of entitlement. Take your ego, impatience & utter absence of gratitude elsewhere.THANK YOU to the wonderful receptionists, techs, nurses & doctors in orthopedics & imaging who provided exemplary care when my daughter broke her arm in 2 places last weekend. Your warmth, compassion, professionalism & diligence did not go unnoticed. As a parent of 5 children ranging in age from 5-18, there have been more than a few visits to this hospital over the years, & the care received has always been fantastic. Despite the many challenges we're currently facing as a province/country, I would still highly recommend CHEO without hesitation.
Nicole Cacilhas: . It's nice that you can check online beforehand to see the wait times before you leave and pack accordingly. It said 6hr wait online before we left. If you can't wait that long then go/stay home; it truly isn't an emergency and you shouldn't be at the hospital if you feel you have the option to just go/stay home. Not to say that waiting 8hrs is acceptable; it was very difficult at 37wks pregnant with a sick child.I can not eat gluten. I came prepared with a purse full of snacks, but I wasn't expecting to fully rely on that. The only safe
