4worldlovers: For several years the Pleasant Park Baptist Church family has had a desire to see the replanting of the English Baptist Ministry in Alta Vista and surrounding communities. In the process of seeking God in community retreats in prayer and in seeking counsel from sister churches and church leaders we came in contact with the pastor and members of Celebration!Church Ottawa. Celebration! has had a vital ministry on the campuses of the University of Ottawa, Carleton University and Algonquin College in cooperation with other churches and Christian Student Organizations. Following what we believed to be God’s leading and direction, we began to have talks with Celebration! to explore the possibility of bringing the ministries of Celebration! Church and Pleasant Park Baptist together. In the summer the two churches began sharing Sunday Services on the campus of St Paul University and work began on the Church building on Pleasant Park Rd to make it a more accessible, safe, and welcoming space for the building of God’s Kingdom. A large part of the work having been completed, Celebration! Church and Pleasant Park Church began a trial period during the final two months of 2018. On Christmas Eve the two churches were joined by the french speaking congregation CENTRE ÉVANGÉLIQUE FOI ET VICTOIRE (CEFV) , a church that also meets at 414 Pleasant Park for a celebration of the Advent of Jesus Christ our Lord.

On January 6 the two churches met and shared in fellowship around the Lord’s Table for the first time in the new year and we heard a challenge from Pastor Jason to begin and continue in 2019 to listen to the voice of the Good Shepherd and let that voice transform us as individuals and as church communities as we seek to go forward together in ministry in His name. Allow me to extend to you a warm invitation to join in the worship service on Sunday Mornings at 10:00 a.m. Perhaps you are not really a church going person but you are looking for meaning or feeling a need to connect or facing a practical need. The folks at Celebration! and Pleasant Park would love to meet you and if Sunday morning is not the place for you there are several other ways to check us out in a non-threatening way.
