4worldlovers: The ADLC was formed in 1958 and is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Our budget is dependent upon donations from our members and the public. We support other animal-rights groups in shared causes. We publish a news bulletin twice a year to inform our members and the public of current activities and issues.

Earlier this month, we celebrated together as Bill S-5 became law, phasing out toxic chemical testing on animals! With the passing of these landmark bills, animals cannot be used in Canada to test cosmetics and hundreds of thousands of animals will be saved from painful testing of different harmful substances commonly used in our homes and everyday lives.

If you have lost an animal, please fill in our handy Lost Animal Report. The OHS receives thousands of lost animals every year. Submitting a complete lost report will help us to quickly identify many animals.


Submitting a lost report is not a substitute for calling the shelter to enquire about your missing pet.

If you have lost your pet, you can view lost photos online of most of the stray cats and dogs that have recently been admitted to our shelter. Pictures are posted within 24 hours of admission, and the site is updated every hour.

Please note: not all stray animal postings will be accompanied with a photo. If the description of an animal matches your lost pet, please call our Lost and Found department at 613-725-3166 ext. 223.
