Perhaps the main thing for me that was so important is that the person in charge was ALWAYS available to deal with any questions, special circumstances or problems. She was thorough and extremely careful to understand the particular circumstances and the people involved and how best to try to help.

The Butterfly care model used on Bankwood allows residents a safe home area that embraces their individual care needs. The activities lead Megan on Bankwood is no short of a blessing - she offers kindness and compassion alongside fun and her engaging activities for all of the folks living there.

Atis Metuzals: My mom stays here and she very well taken care off. The staff are very professional, courteous and extremely helpful and sharing with us. The only detriment is the obvious lack of parking for visitors at all times. I ate a meal with my mom and the food was well above average especially compared to other places my mom had stayed at. It looked clean and well taken care of.

Marthe Williams: Our Mom lives alone and is able to manage most of the time. However, during the past year, it was felt that it would be beneficial to enlist some outside help to do errands, attend doctor’s visits, accommpaniment for senior social activites, etc. The goal was to provide us with more quality time with Mom and not just chores and errands. We hired Qualicare and were about to start the service when the pandemic arrived and an order to stay home was issued. At first we were hesitant to start the companion service because of the possibility of Mom who is 80 plus years old being infected inadvertently. Qualicare's Kelly and Eileen explained their procedures to ensure the safety of our Mom and their staff so we decided to proceed with the service. It has been a few weeks now and Mom is very pleased with the companionship from Eileen and Christiane at this very trying time. During the twice weekly visits she has had some much needed walks in the fresh air, short trips for the necessities, lively conversation and help for other everyday tasks. As well, Eileen's nursing experience has been extremely helpful when Mom had doctor's appointments via telephone. Having that extra help from Qualicare has been very comforting for us and we look forward to a long and happy relationship.

Elaine Stinson: My 97-year-old Aunt recently experienced a significant fall and was taken to hospital for diagnostics. Because of a severe Covid outbreak, they did not think it wise for her to be admitted. She was sent home unable to walk. I spent several hours attempting to liaise with an agency who could provide the assistance she required. Nurse Next Door was the only organization who not only could help immediately, but were eager to assist my Aunt with whatever she required. Cindy was my point-of-contact. She was consummately professional and extremely compassionate. I cannot recomment Nurse Next Door highly enough. Ottawa is fortunate to have them.

acdharmaw: Very impressed with the top quality staff and level of care; every effort is given to make this a great environment. The food is good, there is even a resident dog, there are plants and decorations that make this such an inviting place.

A H: Secluded off from Riverside Road. Nice compound with lots of FREE parking. Building looks relatively new. Excellent protocol for Covid at the foyer. Staff is pleasant. Visitors need to change to the facilty's surgical masks upon entry and brown paper bags are provided for putting away our own mask. Clean inside and the staff seem pleasant interacting with the residents. Hair salon is impressive. Lots of windows everywhere. Surprised to see carpets in corridors of resident rooms, but they look clean, no stains.

Jeff Gravel: My father was at Granite Ridge for the final years of his life, and the care he experienced was all we could have hoped for and more. Most importantly, he was happy! The staff is professional, caring, and just plain wonderful! My father has passed, and on occasion, I visit someone at Granite Ridge that I came to know while visiting Dad, and the care received by the residents is still top notch! Sincere thanks to all members of the staff- your tasks are many, but they are carried out with love and compassion.

The compassion and caring they showed him in his final days were above and beyond and they not only cared for him respectfully they also made sure my mother and ourselves were also fed and attended to this difficult time. Cathy Cowan: I stayed at the Red Oak in Kanata for 4 weeks of respite care after knee replacement surgery. I experienced a number of complications in the first 2 weeks post surgery, including a bad reaction to a medication that made me very sick for 5 days. I can’t thank the PSWs and nursing staff for their diligent care, support and encouragement. They checked on me regularly to ensure that I was OK and made sure that I was safe and comfortable. The staff were not only consummate professionals, they were also friendly, positive and very helpful. They worked with me providing the support that I needed while also enabling me to do more on my own as I progressed. My recovery was rapid, in large part due to their friendly encouragement and aid. They were absolutely outstanding.The support staff and management also went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comfortable and I received the support I required. One example of this was when they went out of their way to find a lazy boy chair for me when they realized that the couch was too low for me to use. I thank all of them for their care and friendly support.In my final 2 weeks at the Red Oak, I had the opportunity to meet with residents over meals and to enjoy some of the organized entertainment. I met some amazing and talented people. I enjoyed hearing their stories and sharing in friendly conversations. The musical entertainment was outstanding with both outside entertainers and residents sharing their musical talents.For the first two weeks of my stay, I was unable to go to the dining room, so my meals were delivered to my room. The PSWs offered to take me down to the dining room for meals via wheel chair so that I could enjoy the company of others. I profited from this offer for a few days before I was able to walk down myself. They cared that I was not lonely and had the social interaction that was necessary for my recovery.The food was very good, with 2 options for each meal. We also had the option of ordering from the a la carte menu of the selections were not to our liking. I enjoyed my time in the dining room and the variety of food available.I am so pleased to have selected the Red Oak for my respite care. They treated me like family and were a large part of my successful recovery. I want to thank all of the staff for their support, especially the amazing PSWs. They made an amazing difference. All the best and I will see you again when I have my second knee replaced in the near future.

The Head of Wellness Melanie is a lovely compassionate person. Nursing staff are pleasant and beyond reproach in their care. They got us through COVID with strict protocols, 4 x vaxed promptly and with very few cases in 2.5 years. Literally a life saver.

Kate Whitridge: My partner and I spent 4 months at the Red Oak Retirement Residence. Within 1 short week, Mary Temple was able to arrange a comfortable, furnished suite for us. The residence has many amenities, friendly and helpful staff, a fabulous nursing team, and a good dining room. The resident community welcomed us. Despite COVID-19 raging outside, we have felt safe and well-cared for at Red Oak. Although I wish we could have tried the pool and hot tub!

Susan Burgess: I recently spent 3 months at Lord Lansdowne in respite care after suffering a spinal fracture and while waiting for surgery .Lord Lansdowne provided the perfect environment to assist in my recovery. My surroundings were comfortable and elegant. All my needs were met by staff who were both professional and personal who called me by name and quickly familiarized themselves with my likes and dislikes especially in the dining room. A wide variety of activities and entertainment were offered. I particularly enjoyed playing Bingo, various board games , and bridge . A variety of movies and documentaries were offered every evening and I enjoyed listening to the musicians who were brought in to entertain us. The residence is ideally situated in the heart of the Glebe across from Lansdowne Park and close to the canal which provided me with the incentive to become more mobile as my healing progressed. I met many interesting and wonderful people during my brief stay who have become friends and who I will continue to see even though I have returned home.I highly recommend Lord Lansdowne for anyone needing short term care and I am currently giving consideration to moving there as a long term option when the need arises
Lidija Lebar: I very recently returned to this home to visit one of my friend's family and was so pleased that my visit was as pleasant as my previous one. As soon as I entered the building, I was warmly greeted and welcomed by the staff. I also noticed how very clean the home was despite the inclement weather outdoors. My friend and I and her parents had lunch at the Lord Lansdowne dining room and I was impressed by how nicely the food was presented and how good it taste - it was marvelous! Looking around the room during lunch, I noticed how happy the residents appeared, laughing and chatting with one another as they ate together - they were truly at home. I also noted how the staff were so caring, helping residents who needed some extra assistance, always smiling. The Lord Lansdowne Residence is run by a great team - it's so well managed - I look forward to my next visit.

Alana Moores: I had a pleasure of having my parents stay at Lordlansdown in the Glebe. The food was amazing and the food service manager was amazing. He came out to talk my parents about the food. My parents were very nervous about the food since they cooked for themselves at home; as you can imagine when they had to give up that independence, and relay on others to cook. His staff were amazing as well, every meal they made sure my parents were comfortable . Kudos to the food Service Manager and his staff for a job well done. Whenever we are ready to move in Lordlansdown is definately at our top list.

Her fellow-residents are friendly; the nursing and other staff are professional and attentive; and she is enjoying the many available activities, including live and taped musical performances, movies, and art and other classes. In short, her move has been a very positive one and we would recommend Lord Lansdowne to anyone considering a retirement residence in Ottawa.
Forgonetimes Z: As a volunteer in Chartwell lord Landsdown I feel very welcomed and warm. The staff working in there are very friendly. My job is refreshing the flowers of the dining table every week, my superior worker, some residences and me we chat, laugh and accomplish the task in a very pleasant atmosphere. I found out the kitchen staff are very nice too, I have to borrow their dish wash machine every week, and they are very patience, respect, and efficient.If you are looking for a nice home, I would definitely recommend Chartwell lord Landsdown.

The residence always has beautiful fresh flowers. Not to mention they have a variety of different activities everyday, so there’s something for everyone here! Definitely recommend this home to all and 10/10.

From the food to the activities and events to the engaging staff, Lord Lansdowne has everything needed to make a place feel like home. The staff and management are able to accommodate all residents and provide them with the best care and attention.
Gina Taptich: I was hired by the lifestyle and programs manager at Lord Landsdowne to perform for the residents as part of an event. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the residents were extremely welcoming, kind, and seemed to have a great time. The facilities are also stunning.

Geoff LaHaise: Hi as an employee at Lord Lansdowne I realize that my opinion could be skewed but I put family first. This summer when my Mother in law became ill and could no longer care for herself at home, and all of her kids having full time jobs, it seemed obvious that the place to go was Lord Lansdowne. Her health care was our main concern, and the care and support from the nursing staff was second to none. they really do care. The rest of the staff also were very accommodating and did as much as they could to ensure her comfort. The accommodations are modern and spacious the food is great and the entire staff care deeply. For anyone who is looking for an alternative place to live for a loved one I highly recommend it.
Rob Smith: We've found the staff and facilities at the Lord Lansdowne to be first-rate. Caring and competent people, a lovely atmosphere and good food. Good quality medical services are available on-site and there is plenty of daily programming. A reliable shuttle service is available. And the Lord Lansdowne is very pet friendly. The Lord Lansdowne team also managed the COVID pandemic very well, with no serious cases among staff or residents. Overall, not much more to hope for in a retirement residence.
Sharon LaHaise: I would definitely recommend Lord Lansdowne Residence. We brought our mother to the residence in June 2021, as we knew beforehand that the staff and caregivers were dedicated and caring. Our mother immediately felt well cared-for during a trying time. My siblings and I were very grateful for this. The care staff are professional and compassionate. We knew right away that we had made the right choice. The facility itself is very nice, and well-maintained.
Gord Jenkins: I found staff and their friendliness to be Lord Lansdowne to be their strong point. This gave LL a feeling of warmth and a second home- must include the senior staff and most important -the Chef.
