At Mississauga Martial Arts Centre (MMAC), the ITF style of Tae Kwon-Do is taught to children and adults in a fun but disciplined environment. Tae Kwon-Do promotes respecting and helping others and is a guide for the formation of an outstanding character. This well respected art is well-suited to all personality types. It makes the very aggressive child more calm and respectful towards others, while making the timid child more outgoing and self-confident.
All beginner classes are taught at a no contact level and focus on learning strong fundamental techniques. Students then use this knowledge as a foundation to build upon as they continue their training on their journey to black belt. While our training is strict, our members feel a sense of support and comradery in the family environment we have worked hard to create. Students are encouraged to push past their boundaries to continuously grow and develop. This sense of accomplishment nurtures the student’s self-esteem and self-confidence, which becomes evident in all aspects of their daily life.
At MMAC, we embrace the traditional mindset in which Tae Kwon-Do is much more than an “activity” that a student participates in once in a while – it truly becomes a way of life. The principals of respect, hard work and perseverance learned in class are carried by the student into their everyday life, extending the practice far beyond the Do Jang.
It takes a significant amount of training and dedication to achieve the level of black belt, averaging 5-7 years in total. There is a maturity and sense of responsibility that comes with reaching this level. We are proud to say that our students that have accomplished this goal have proven to have earned it by training hard and giving back to the sport by helping to teach junior level students.
In order to truly benefit from the program, students should train a minimum of twice per week. Regular training helps to create consistency and commitment with the student and increases their engagement and connection to the art.
We offer several beginner classes per week for children ages 3 and up, as well as beginner classes for adults of all ages. We welcome anyone interested to come visit us for two free, no obligation trial classes to see if Tae Kwon-Do is the right fit for you and your child!

Paul had always been a target for bullies and had endured countless beatings throughout his childhood. He felt helpless and longed for a way to defend himself.One day, while walking home from school with a black eye and bruised ego, Paul stumbled upon the Mississauga Martial Arts Centre. Intrigued by the sign that read "Learn to defend yourself," he decided to give it a try.Under the guidance of skilled instructors, Paul began his martial arts journey. He learned discipline, respect, and most importantly, self-defense techniques. With each passing day, his confidence grew, and he started to believe in his own abilities.As time went on, Paul's skills improved significantly. He became faster, stronger, and more agile. But instead of using his newfound abilities to become a bully, he chose a different path. He realized that the true power of martial arts lay in protecting others and standing up against injustice.Paul became a role model for his peers, using his skills to help those who were being bullied. He organized workshops and seminars to teach others about self-defense and the importance of respect. Through his efforts, the culture of the school began to change, and bullying became less prevalent. He continued to inspire others, spreading the message of empowerment and kindness.And so, the once-victim of bullying became a symbol of strength and compassion. Paul's journey from being bullied to becoming a protector taught him the true essence of martial arts - not to be a bully, but to stand up against bullies and create a safer, more inclusive community for everyone.
Mireille Khawaja: Mississauga martial arts center also has an after-school program. They pick up my kids from school, take them to the center, where they will eat, play.... for an hour. At 4:30 they do their taekwondo class which ends at 5:30. By the time they are changed and ready, I am there for pickup. It's a two in one deal with very fair prices. My kids love going there no more complaining of being bored, and they are very motivated to get higher belt ranks. Management and staff are amazing! Friendly, caring, kind. I can't say enough!

I train in black belt classes 3 to 4 times a week with a great group of people. We have a lot of fun. I also volunteer my time at this club with a significant contribution over the last year. Currently I work as a regular instructor at this club. It is so wonderful helping the members improve their skill, achieve the next difficult goal, build confidence and learn about respect, as Tae Kwon do is a way of life. Personally I have been affiliated with this club for over 40 years. Three of the instructors including myself have been affiliated with the club for over 40 years. That represents some serious longevity, loyalty and continuity. All of our current instructors have been affiliated with the club for many years. Jayna started this program because we felt she was very shy and quiet and would not speak up and express herself. What she is learning in karate is helping her be more positive, greater self-esteem and she speaks up when needed to communicate effectively with others.
Karate has taught me how to defend myself and others. In karate I have to be patient and work very hard to get my next belt. I have to pay attention to Sensei and focus on kata so I can learn and get better. Because it is the best dojo around with the most flexibility/variety in classes for adults. The instructors are excellent and they make you feel like you belong and are welcomed.
"The benefits of Jacob we've seen is confidence because he can say his speech in front of people, speak up in show and tell, and say hi to me at school. Jacob shows independence by remembering to read his book, doing his homework, and playing with his little brother. He shows respect by listening to Mom and Dad, and taking turns with ipads and toys. Jacob always has a smile and he is very excited to grade for his ORANGE BELT!"
Recently one of our neighbours had mentioned how respectful Christopher was. When the parent asked Christopher who taught him that level of respect he immediately mentioned us, his parents, but quickly added "I learn a lot about respect at Karate too!" We have always tried to teach Christopher respect, it's nice to know that by him participating in Karate, the Academy of Martial Arts promotes the same values that we try to instil in him each day.
Since I started attending the Academy of Martial Arts, I have had such a great experience. There is such a positive attitude as soon as you step through the doors and everyone is nice. I've been focusing on becoming a black belt more than ever before, something changed and now its more of a need to come to the dojo than a work out, because I want to achieve getting to black belt level. I am a lot more confident than I was before, especially when shouting my kiai, which I used to be shy of shouting in the dojo. I am not as nervous to present my kata in front of the class if necessary because I know that being there will give me a new set of improvements to make my kata better. I am trying very hard to improve my fitness level because I am still learning. Warm up is when I struggle the most because of push ups but part of why I come is to improve on upper body strength. I try my best to make it to the dojo at least two times a week because I don't want to let go of my goal and since I had joined for a team for the tournament I now come about four times a week. I find it a good way to bond with other people in the dojo as well as improve myself. Every time I come with a positive attitude and I am ready for what each class throws at me. I am happy to have found the Academy of Martial Arts because it has a great experience and a hope to a lot more.

They fully embody the continuous improvement mindset here and strive to excel in all martial art disciplines. I couldn't recommend this dojo any more highly. Ivan Sergienko: My son and I have been coming to this dojo for 10 years. I started as a white belt in my thirties and rose all the way to black belt rank. The club takes very good care of both children and adults. The instructors genuinely enjoy what they do. Many families train together there. I highly recommend this place whether you are an experienced judoka or just want to learn the basics.

Chhinder Sandhu: After 7 years of training at the dojo I can’t begin to explain what this dojo means to me. The CMAC Dapo Dojo isn’t only a place to train and learn, it's a place to find yourself. The staff helps you on this journey in any way they can. The staff is amiable and they feel like family which makes the dojo feel like a second home. I’ve come here multiple times when I felt low, and I always come back home feeling better and stronger both mentally and physically. I highly recommend this dojo if you are looking to develop a stronger work ethic, realize your potential, learn more about the world around you and how you can best contribute as a citizen, while also reaching your health and fitness goals!

patty craig: Adult Karate lessons... so glad I joined. I wanted to get fit and learn something new. The instructors are very experienced and are excellent teachers. The self defense knowledge is so valuable at any age. It's a friendly environment and well worth it.
Saije Man: Just recently enrolled my 5 year old son here, so far a great experience. The instructors are great with the children and the dojo itself is clean and organized. Prices are good and being able to pay by the month without being locked in for a whole year is fantastic. The fact that they have Sunday classes was a huge reason we enrolled our son here even though it's a bit of a drive from where we live. My only gripe would be that the viewing area is quite small for parents to watch their children. You have to look through a medium sized window that peeks into the private office and again though glass doors to see a portion of the training area, and if there are a lot of children in the class, you may not be able to see your child depending where they are situated in class. It's also difficult to watch should there be other parents watching too as there isn't much space. As a parent of a new student, I don't need to watch every class however I would like to watch his first few classes just to get a sense how he's enjoying it. Just a small gripe, otherwise a fantastic experience overall so far.

Despite some hurdles in life was encouraged to never give up by Mr Sal. My son has recently been diagnosed with ADHD and I have learned that this sport is very helpful to those who display this condition. The result today is that my son is now a 1st Dan Black Belt at age 11, has a boosted amount of confidence because of this encouragement and perseverance. They consider all students family and I would recommend their welcoming, stern but fair and fun environments to everyone!

Importantly, the black belts at the younger ages are very dedicated. It's part of their life, now and forever. There are seminars at extra cost, but worth it. Head instructor's goal is not just TKD but also to shape the children's lives. Safety is a priority but expect high expectations.

Lotfi has done an excellent job at teaching the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.The school's environment is very welcoming and each student is always willing to help you progress in case something doesn't make sense.For any newcomers I highly recommend attending Lotfi's school if you've developed an interest in studying Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
