Agatha C: Had dinner on a quiet Monday night.Amazing beef carpaccio, mussels, tuna tartare and mediterranean chicken! Our server Michelle was incredibly attentive and made great suggestions, as well as very friendly and welcoming. C. C.: Was so impressed with the food! The calamari appetizer was the most tender I have ever had…it was delicious. I had special of the day spaghetti with seafood and a lemon sauce. It was delicious. Pasta was cooked perfection and fish was all fresh and delicious. We were there for a friends birthday. She had a lamb shank and she loved hers. I had a bite. It was delicious and tender. The mashed potatoes were amazing. Could not resist a bite!! My other friend had pasta with steak I don’t remember the name off hand it was also delicious. We all tried each others and the sweetest thing, they gave a piece of tiramisu on the house for my friends birthday. I would definitely recommend, and I thought the prices were very reasonable. The only thing I would say is the atmosphere is a little bit dated could use a little sprucing, but I could definitely overlook that any day of the week because the food is that good!

I always loved their mushroom trumpet appetizer, sadly and obliviously they did not have that on their menu, regardless the service was amazing, food is still as good as it used to be…maybe even better. The décor still stayed the same. Which is my favorite.I could eat Caprese salad 24-7 and still want more. There Osso bucco is to die far.This restaurant is a must to see, a must to taste and experience. A few times I wanted to order online but they took off a ton of things off the menu on Doordash. Long wait time for pick up and delivery. One time I got bruschetta and it tasted like the mix sold at Costco, not freshly made. Been going for years and will continue, but a few things could improve.Wheelchair accessibility: There's a ramp, and I think it would be tight coming in. Bathroom is in the basement and no wheelchair button to open the door

We ordered pizzas, ricotta pancakes, waffles, and a pasta. I think all the flavours were balanced, not too salty, not too sweet, just the right amount of richness. I think the service was excellent, and the ambiance was great. And all of this for quite a good price!

The restaurant accommodated 20 of us across 2 tables.We ordered one of every appetizer. The calamari and mussels were the best out of them all.We also ordered the steak and the angel hair lobster meat pasta. The steak was cooked per request and comes with a side of steamed vegetables and roasted potatoes. The pasta didn't have distinguishable lobster meat pieces throughout the sauce.We feel that most of the items we tried can be created at home.The cocktail list reflects the age of the establishment, offering long island iced teas, all nighters, and Honeydew martinis, to name a few. While the cocktails were dated, the bartender executed them well.Our server was lovely! He needed more help to serve a party of 20.Parking: Parking is available in front of the restaurant entrance, which is off Lakeshore.Wheelchair accessibility: There is no ramp to enter the restaurant from the back door.
Peter: All the waiters are funny and really welcoming. Every customer at the restaurant seemed to be having a great time. If you love Italian cuisine this is your place, Michael's Back Door focuses on serving different types of pastas. But because of this their is not a great variety food, which again is the reason why all of their pastas taste fabulous. They also serve fish and clam, and have amazing vegetarian options. The squid on its own did not have taste, however the sauce it sits in was really great! The server suggested we get the focaccia which we were extremely happy about! We were able to dip it in the sauce from the squid which was great! It was super soft and dipped in oil and tasted very good. The gnocchi was alright in my opinion, my partner really enjoyed it and the crispier texture was enticing. The seafood pasta and branzino were good, however the fish really needed salt as it wasn't flavored at all. The pasta sauce was good, but the seafood was not seasoned and also needed salt.We would definitely go back and recommend to others to try!

Rick Kenney: Great Italian Restaurant but not strictly Italian. There are other mainstream dishes on the menu. The food was outstanding. Right portion size and great presentation. Great service from Dave. I should mention that we visited for my wife's birthday. She is not picky but very selective about what restaurants she goes to. She said she would definitely visit here again. That alone deserves another star!
Claudine Lee: Came here for Taste of Clarkson and we took advantage of their prix fixe menu. We got the arancini, salad, coffee rubbed steak, and the pasta. As for dessert, we got the cheesecake and the gelato.This was a lot of food for two people and we really tried to finish it all. The arancini had a good risotto flavour and was cooked well. The salad tasted fresh and I really enjoyed it.The steak was cooked well but the taste was just not as what I was expecting. I was surprised that the coffee didn't taste as strong but this was my first time trying it so I don't have much to compare it to. The pasta was a lot and came with three different kinds of meat.I really enjoyed the pistachio gelato and would probably get that one again.Overall, the experience was not too bad. The service was also okay. I'd come by and try their pizza next time.

Lynda Wellman: Attended a gathering after a funeral in a section of the restaurant that can be closed off as a "party room". The owners went the extra mile to provide a buffet with a variety of tasty sandwiches, small wraps, salads and dessert items, plus beverages including wine. Friendly staff, excellent variety of great food, accommodating and supportive family owners on site. Will be back!!
