Installed in my Sprinter van, looks nice and cleans very easily. Nice product, cut and installed very easily. Glue was a little more difficult but very doable. My first ever vinyl floor install!


My 1984 Catalina sailboat had traditional teak & holly veneer( on marine plywood) cabin sole boards. Nearly all of them had visual water damage to the surface veneer even though they were all heavily protected with either varnish or some other tough shiny coating. One of the boards was partially rotted from water ingress and had to be replaced. However the others were all salvageable as most of the issues were cosmetic. I researched various options and decided that the work and cost involved in totally replacing all the boards in new teak & holly marine ply was just not worth it, plus I didn’t have the right wood working tools to make the job easy. I decided to use Lonseal Marine Vinyl Flooring supplied by Ameriteak Inc. to resurface the boards as not only was it simple to do but looked quite realistic and appeared to be maintenance free. Our boards though originally teak & holly had many years of re-varnishing and looked darker so I actually decided to buy the Mahogany & Holly Vinyl as it seemed to be a better match to the original and also our teak cabinetry. All the boards were removed and allowed to dry for several weeks then sanded on top and bottom surfaces to clean and roughen the old varnish surfaces for bonding. The rotted board was completely replaced with ordinary plywood using the old board as a template. The boards were then carefully aligned to the original board pattern and glued in place and weighted face down to achieve a good bond. After curing the vinyl was easily trimmed with a sharp utility knife using the boards’ existing edges. They were then flipped over to the bare wood undersides and given a coating of penetrating epoxy to seal them against moisture. By not completely removing the old veneer I was able to align the holly lines precisely as the board pattern was almost identical to the original veneer.Tthe boards are slightly thicker due to the thickness of the vinyl but this is not an issue in my opinion and does not affect the comfort of walking on the cabin sole. The feel under foot is softer and warmer, non-slip and is quite easy to keep clean. Our fellow boaters at the marina are amazed at the transformation of the boat with such a simple upgrade. It makes our boat look almost new again. This product was supplied very fast after I ordered it and I thank Jerry Tatton at Ameriteak for his excellent advice and fast service.
