The Gage Park Tropical Greenhouse is located at 1000 Main Street East , Hamilton. A newly constructed 14,000 square-foot (1,300 square metre), fully accessible greenhouse features a collection of subtropical plants, unique species and palm trees.
The greenhouse is designed as a community gathering place, providing opportunities to use the greenhouse as an educational center and as a rentable space for special events including wedding photos.
Closed to the public for an additional 2 weeks until approximately September 5 for roof repairs. As investigations continue, updates will be provided.
The operational greenhouse at Gage Park features 18,720 square feet of space for growing plants year round. We use plants grown at the greenhouse for:
Flowers at City facilities including City Hall, Sam Lawrence Park and Gage Park
Roof venting system to get plants used to the outdoor temperatures before being removed from the greenhouse
In-floor heating reduces boiler use by providing heat to the plant roots
Built in a style reflective of the Canadian City Beautiful movement of the 1920s, Gage Park is one of Hamilton’s most iconic, historical and cultural landscapes. Gage Park has outstanding gardens, a historical fountain and a large selection of trees. Hamilton’s Gage Park was selected as the recipient of the inaugural CSLA Legacy Project Award in 2016.

Solly B: This is the smallest of the several separate gardens comprising the RBG presence this part of Ontario. As such, don't expect it to take a large part of your day to see. We came in September so the main attraction, the irises and peonies, were long over. That leaves not a great deal but the place still has charm, for example the delightful veggie garden with its heirloom varieties, which included THE BIGGEST TOMATOES I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! Maybe that was just a fluke after a wet summer, but I was impressed.Oh, and the young lady on the ticket booth was exceptionally pleasant and positive.

Natalia Bogdan (Talia): Great little spot for a picnic or a walk. There are lots of benches and picnic tables in the area and it's not too busy. Decent amount of parking in the parking lot or along the road. You do need to pay for parking and it's $3/hour. The parking meter only takes credit or you can pay with an app. It's more out of the way than the rest of the RBG properties so a great little spot if you want somewhere quiet. There's also a small dock just by the parking lot if you want to use a kayak or canoe. There's lots of info boards to tell you about the wildlife and plants that are being protected here. There is also a bus that runs to this property too.
