Garneau Hall Seniors Community: what do users think?

Observant Public: Very friendly, welcoming, and accommodating staff. Brenda is doing an awesome job. Grandma was able to move in recently on very short notice, and staff attentively provide delicious food according to her diet requirements. Good exercise and social programs despite COVID restrictions. Care and concern for residents is clearly evident.

Huong Luu: The staff are very welcoming and accommodating. They have been very gracious in letting me use some of the ground space to host teaching seminars. The space is large and very suitable for an open learning environment. The amenities are always clean and comfortable.

Charlie Bhiladwala: The staff were really great, friendly and knowledgeable. There are lots of activities and lovely residents that are very welcoming. Food was delicious too.

Becca G: Very friendly, patient staff. Welcoming environment.

Ashbourne: what do users think?

Kathryn Roberts: The Ashbourne is in Edmonton, Alberta. It's a non-profit and inclusive apartment building - all the suites are rentals. It opened around 2000 and has been a reliable home for the residents ever since. Often there's apartments for rent if people are needing temporary accommodations while getting treatment at the nearby hospital or visiting from out of town. The rent includes the evening meal! The Ashbourne is an independent living facility, thus family and friends are welcome to visit anytime. One can "age in place" for the most part, because there are assisted living services available if necessary. There's also a lovely, shaded, fenced-in outdoor courtyard for BBQs or just to get fresh air while visiting with others. Our family will sit outside when we have a family member visiting with a dog and especially when we're worried about one of us having cold symptoms. The Ashbourne supplies good, plentiful meals in each floor's dining room, as well as comfortable, well maintained suites. The location is in the heart of the university, in the Garneau neighbourhood, so plenty to see when walking about.

Ruth Petesky: My mom lived there for about 3 years. She had to move to receive a higher level of care. She very much enjoyed the activities provided by Ashbourne. The food was excellent, which is really important for showing care for the well being of the people who live at Ashbourne. My mom was there during Covid lockdowns and the staff took the safety of all who came into the facitlity very seriously and they tried there best to provide some level of entertainment for the residence as was possible under such difficult circumstances.

Tracy ET Stewart: . There is a good drop-off zone, and there is a 15 minute loading zone in front when you just need to run in quickly.Overall, I highly recommend the Ashbourne - we've been very thankful to the staff for making a good home for our family member.

Don Ianson: I have a family member living at The Ashbourne and I'm happy to give the highest rating to the people, location, and the services and facilities. The real difference maker is the people, at every level. Discovered The Ashbourne by taking a tour and talking to some of the staff. Instant peace of mind. Highly recommended.

Ernest Jacobson: My sister lives at Ashbourne, and it is a very good place. Meals are very good, staff are helpful and friendly. Organized outings and activities are frequent and are valued and appreciated by residents. My sister is very happy living at Ashbourne, and I enjoy visiting her there.

Tracey M: My mom moved into Ashbourne in 2019. We loved everything and everyone with Ashbourne. Her apartment was perfect and homey. My mom loved the food. Meals were flavorful and served plated to the residents. The location was great for our family and friends to visit on a regular basis as well as location to the U of A hospital. All the staff is welcoming and caring, friendly and fun. Lots of events for the residents and family. We lost our Mom before Xmas, all staff was supportive and compassionate. Our experience with Ashbourne was everything we had hoped for. My Mom was so happy there ❤️ Thank you to everyone at Ashbourne

Meghan Markowski: My grandma lives at Ashbourne and has had an amazing experience. The staff is kind and helpful. There are activities for residents to attend which is especially important when the resident lives alone, which is the case for my grandma. My Grandma attends the dinner put on by the company each night and says the food is very good. She also is sat with another single so she is not alone. Ashborne gave my grandma a community after the passing of my grandfather and we are forever grateful.

Robert Markowski: The level of personal care is amazing. They truly get to know the residents and treat them like a family would.

Carrie Markowski: My mother-in-law has lived here for a number of years and really enjoys it. There are field trips and lots of daily activities to keep her busy, and her place is warm and cosy! Thank you Ashbourne!

Kirstin Sykes: My parents lived in the Ashbourne for about 5 years together before my father needed a higher level of care and they had to move. After my father passed away, my mother chose to return to live there on her own. The variety of activities and resources available to residents is wonderful. The staff are very engaged and many have worked there for a long time providing quality care. The food is prepared on site and is of good quality and variety. The location is convenient and easily accessible. I would recommend this facility for your loved one as a great opportunity for them to have an active social life in a welcoming environment.

Marianne Rankin: Two of my family members enjoyed living at Ashbourne. Very nice sized suites. All staff is very helpful, professional and caring. The LPNs and HCAs were absolutely outstanding and accommodated my relatives changing needs as they aged. Truly wonderful.

lorne pendleton: One of the best not-for-profit homes for seniors in Edmonton because most staff really like to work there. I do some volunteer work for them. They are across the street from the University of Alberta Hospital and a block or two off Whyte, and that is also convenient for the LRT and bus. They are plugged into advanced innovation and offer 'smart n friendly' technology for those who want a little extra peace of mind. I suggest you take a tour to find out more.

thomas bizi: Great place to work as a nurse best LPN and RN ever

Luci Hachey: I contacted the Ashbourne to find out more about the facility and see if it might be an option for my parents. I found the staff that I was introduced to very friendly. I was given a tour of the entire building it was very clean and inviting. The Ashbourne is very close to the University Hospital which is extremely convenient. While my parents aren't ready to leave country living for the big city, I would definitely encourage others to consider the Ashbourne.

David Wolfe: Amazing staff and Services ! Can not say enough about this place. Set your mind at ease when your loved one moves in. Always going the extra mile for their clients. 100% Recommended, if you can find a vacancy!!!

Claudette Shuchuk: My husband and I have nothing but total respect for the management and staff at the Ashbourne. They took amazing care of my mother in law. They always had the time and patience to deal with her even as her mental condition worsened during her stay. The facility is clean and well maintained. The food is excellent and the care is first rate as the staff go the extra mile. My husband and I compared the Ashbourne to many other facilities and found it to be the best in price and services offered. The facility is set up as an apartment which my mother in law liked because she didn't really want to live in a nursing home. This facilitated her agreeing to the move. Residents have the option of eating in the same floor dinning area or in their room. They provide weekly delivery of bread milk and other basic need items. The location is excellent, close to restaurants, shopping, banks and medical facilities and bus service is located nearby. Their social activity programs are excellent and a hairstylist, no charge laundry facility is available for all residents to use.The manager of the facility, Sherry handled the most delicate issues with compassion and empathy. I have recommended the Ashbourne to a neighbor who's loved one is now living at the facility and she has nothing but praise for the Ashbourne.Based on how my Mother In Law was treated at the Ashbourne while she was at that facility I would give it a 5 star Rating and recommend that you call the Ashbourne to find out more.

Chartwell Griesbach Retirement Residence: what do users think?

marc lacoursiere: I met Sharon Pandza when I was looking at options for bringing my dad to Edmonton from BC. Sharon is a wealth of knowledge regarding retirement living. I can see how passionate and caring Sharon is when it comes to guiding seniors and families with retirement living. I recommend anyone to chat to her and see what options are available

Haimanot Teferi: Chartwell is the best place. The staff give the best care and inspiration. It’s the best living home.

Bev Saprunoff: I've Lived here, in November it will be 9 years and counting. We have a New kitchen manager.! ! !

Crystal Nelson: Great people and environment 😊

kirat bajwa: Love love love this residence! Staff are so welcoming and pleasant. Beautiful site!

Miranda Cunningham: Wonderful to deal with! Sharon has helped me out over the last 3 years with follow up phone calls and awesome advice regarding my grandmother that has dementia! Very knowledgeable and I would highly recommend!

Kelly Sherman: On May 1st, my mother in BC turned 90. Her sister who lives at this residence, was able to video conference her. This was able to happen because of the kind and caring staff! They had cake for my aunt and juice while she sang happy birthday. Together, they shared yet another memory. I cannot say enough about the incredible staff and facility. I THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS 💕From both families

Jason Westgeest: The staff at Chartwell Griesbach are amazing! Sharon was especially instrumental in making the transition for our loved one from his previous home to his new one so much easier.Staff are dedicated to providing the best possible care and support for their residents. The facility is well-maintained, and I'm told the meals are delicious and nutritious, with a wide variety of options to choose from. The suites at Chartwell Griesbach are impressive. Beautifully renovated, spacious and comfortable. Our loved one feels right at home in his new suite. We're grateful for the care and attention to detail the staff put into helping him settle in.If you're looking for a place where your loved one will be well-cared for, have access to great amenities, and enjoy delicious meals, this is the place to be. Highly recommended!

Darlene Holoiday: My father has been a resident of Chartwell Griesbach for 5 years and the dedication, caring and kindness goes far beyond expectations. The site provides many activities for the residents and families to join and enjoy. Chartwell has given me the piece of mind knowing that my father is being well taken care of. The staff go beyond knowing my father but also call me by my name when I arrive to visit and partake in activities with my father. I would highly recommend Chartwell for caregiver for your loved ones.

Loreena Foss: In Feb of 2023 will be 3yrs at Chartwell. I absolutely love my newest position as scheduler. The management team, my coworkers and the Residents are all fantastic .

Don Clisdell: The nursing staff is very understanding considering my mother's various health problems. The food is always very good according to Mom.

Bob Haymore: The staff at Chartwell Griesbach have been extremely helpful moving my aunt into their senior living facility. One note is that my aunt is 100 years old and they provide excellent services for her. She is always commenting on how good the meals are in the facility. They also check on her 2 to 4 times a day and have medical staff 24 seven for when she has a health concern. she has her own apartment with a great view of the city. This makes it very comfortable for her lifestyle. I highly recommend this facility as they take the worry out of look after my Aunt!

Colleen Lowe: Called today and had a wonderful conversation with Sharon. I look forward to meeting the staff in person and if my positive experience is any indication of what to expect, I will be moving my mother in asap. Thank you Griesbach!

Colleen McLeod: My Mother moved in a little over a week ago. The staff here have been amazing in making sure she has everything she needs. Many thanks to Andrea Bezanson, mom's AHS case manager, Stephen Blackie the general manager, the AHS staff and one SHINING STAR in particular, Sharon Pandza! It is because of Sharon that we made the decision to move mom here. If we have questions, she has answers, and responds so quickly! The facility is lovely, mom's suite is lovely and she has enjoyed a couple of activities. I feel as though we have found the right place for her

Revera McConachie Gardens: what do users think?

S. King: I recently spent quite a bit of time at McConachie Gardens and over two weeks had the opportunity to eat my daily meals there. I have to say the food was excellent - really top notch - from the breakfasts through to dinners. Not what you would expect of most retirement homes - the kitchen staff are excellent and the results show.

Geri Britton: with numerous activities on a daily basis. There is a dog walk because they allow pets which is great! The interaction between staff and the residents is incredible. They do everything they can to make the residents feel comfortable and provide them with the best environment they can and of course make them feel like they are home.If you are looking for a senior residence for a loved one we highly recommend McConachie Gardens. From the facility itself, to the staff, to the many activities and outings provided to the residents it’s a wonderful place to spend your senior years.I would just like to add, I wrote this review in 2020 before COVID overtook all our lives. I know things have had to change at McConachie because of COVID but it doesn't change my opinion in any way. I can't wait for things to get back to normal so I can participate with my mom in all the great things they used to do.Geri and Ron – daughter and son

ken Spillett: Our mother moved to supportive/assisted living in McConachie Gardens in February 2020. It is a newer and clean facility with considerable staffing support. We were particularly grateful for McConachie coordinating the medical supports for our mother with her family physician. The nursing station and LPN's on site would follow the directives of her physician and also relay information about our mother's care to her doctor. Additionally, they kept our family informed of any changes in her health so we could also play a role in coordinating care with the doctor and staff on site. It was clear to me a number of staff members knew our mother very well and she had fond and close relationships with them. The commitment to care and the flexibility we experience at McConachie meant mother was able to stay in the same facility, and even the same room, from her entry into assisted living through compassionate end of life care. It also meant the care team had a keen understanding of our mother's needs and would call us into the facility when they believed it was required. Knowing we could rely on them to communicate with us as necessary was especially important and helpful as we looked after our mother through COVID 19 restrictions and did not have the same flexibility in visiting as we did prior. The coordination between our family and staff was exceptional. We took great comfort in knowing our mother was well cared for and our family made a good decision in placing her in McConachie Gardens.

Bill Webber: My wife and I have enjoyed living in McConachie Gardens for the past 20 months. We have been served by an incredible staff, from cleaning staff to ED. Dining, before Covid, has been one of the special pleasures. A staff who knows all of us by name, that makes every effort to keep us active and involved, that is caring and understanding makes this a home away from home.Covid presents many challenges for all of us, in my view, we are coping well.

David Whitson: Faced with finding a place for "Dad", the wife & I toured pretty much everything in the Edmonton area. One place stood out above all the rest. McConachie Gardens. We love it, we can feel good about him being there, and most importantly, he loves it too.

Amanda Kuseta: Beautiful new facility, modern, warm and inviting. Falitities and accommodations are beautiful

Wild Rose, an Optima Living community: what do users think?

Anita Zolkavich: are outstanding. This place is a hidden gem in West Edmonton, if you are in search of a home for yourself or your parents please come check out Wild Rose. You won’t be disappointed.

Travis Mourits: Emailed in to get some info Wendy was super responsive, sent me a nice email. Also followed up to make sure I had all the info. Would totally recommend this place!!

Therese Karam: I’ve did my practicum as a Supportive Care Assistant at the Wild Rose , and to be honest I’ve worked in different nursing homes but this place is number One in my eyes from my experience. The Manager Jaskaran Singh was very supportive , super polite and professional. Everyone one of them from all the stuff to people who worked in the office and kitchen were amazing and very welcoming. I do recommend this place to everyone it’s a place to call home . It would be my pleasure to go back and work as a HCA when I take my course . Miss you guys ❤️

Donna Johnstone: I found the Wildrose when I was researching places for my mom to move to here in Edmonton. I knew it had to be special cause she had a great support system in Lethbridge but no family! I went for a tour and told my mom we didn’t need to look farther. Since moving in my mom has made great friends! I go to almost all the activities that are available when I’m not working! When I need a place to move into I gknow I’ve already found it!!!

Karen Schenk: The staff are incredible. I'm so amazed at the passion to serve and help seniors truly live their best life. The chef is outstanding... and a must-experience are the unbelievable cookies!

Michelle: My mom moved in to Wildrose approximately a year ago. It was a stressful time for our family as we transitioned mom to a home that offered a higher level of care. We were shown the room mom is now in, we were given a tour of the building and just feel in love with the place and staff. Mom is so happy here, she loves her room, she always says she's home now.During this difficult time with Covid-19 and not being able to come into the building, the staff have gone above and beyond to come up with other options to visit our mom, like the outdoor visits 6' apart. As well as offering activities for the residents to keep them active and happy.I can't express enough how amazing the staff at Wildrose is; the front desk, the nurses, the dining room staff, maintance and cleaning staff are the most caring and respectful people I've met. I would highly recommend Chartwell Wildrose to any family looking for a place for their parents/loved ones.

Ann Barnes: The staff is exceedingly kind and patient and it is evident they care about the residents. Whenever I have a question or concern there is always someone who helps me. It is a smaller building which lends to a tight knit environment.

Marianna B: My mom is resident here and I don't have a words to describe how good ,nice ,and caring the staff are. I am so grateful that my mother was accepted into this wonderfull home, I highly recommend this home if you want to have peace of mind for your elderly.Thank you!!

Roberta “Bobbi” Chalifoux: My mom recently moved in to Wildrose. We shopped around at other seniors places before we chose Wildrose . The reason we moved her here was pretty simple. It is a small home without the usual bells and whistles but we all felt welcome the moment we walked in. Every staff said hello to us. We didn’t have an appointment but we were invited to join in for lunch. We did. The food was simple but wholesome and tasty. No preprepared meals in sight. The server in the dining room couldn’t have been better if she worked in a 5 star hotel. Best of all there were so many choices. My mom ate everything and she hasn’t had an appetite for a long time. After lunch we spent about 2 hours with the manager. She answered all our questions and explained things to us. She didn’t rush us or pressure us. We were so confused after visiting the other places we thought we would never find a new home for my mom. The manager listened to my mom instead of talking to me. At the other places no one said a word to my mom. This place was different. It felt like the manager cared. We went home and called back to say we wanted my mom to be at Wildrose. The exceptional treatment continued and they all made my mom welcome and made me feel like I could stop worrying. My moms care staff are “caring”. The leisure activities are plenty and fun. My mom is doing yoga now for the first time in her life. I love yoga and hope to join in for a class with my mom. We remain very pleased and greatful my mom is at Wildrose. Thankyou to everyone who helps my mom.

Revera The Churchill: what do users think?

Playa Blanca: Great location for independent seniors like my mom due to the convenience of the pedway to the mall. This is a big plus, especially during the long winter months. Staff seem to be very kind, caring and engaged with the residents, especially the folks in recreation and the nurses who deliver medication to those who choose this option. April, the receptionist at the front desk, is always a joy! The Churchill also has a lovely hospitality/respite suite which is super convenient for those visiting from out of town.

Therese Picard: Today was a very exciting time for me as Jared requested the nice driver Dale to drive in front of the home where I was born and brought up as part of the city tour. The location environment is completely different although the more than one hundred year old house is still there. Luckily there was a charming young lady who was renting the attic and she was kind enough to share some information about the changes in the home I loved. The director Jared and his assistant Victoria always try to make life pleasant for us. I should mention that I need reminders to partake in the wonderful programs they provide. This is one special reason that I live here at Churchill where we are all looked after in special ways. God bless the Director and his wonderful staff directors who care and make sure we are all happy and well cared for. May the whole world know this, especially those who are anticipating a move to a senior residence. I highly recommend this place where I have lived for seven years and hope many more. Therese Picard

harry sutton: with warmth, kindness, respect, and patience. Each time we visit, April and Joan at reception welcome us warmly, and if we have questions, Executive Director Thomas responds promptly and respectfully, making himself readily available to discuss our concerns. Alan, recently retired from the Churchill, is now back volunteering - certainly an example of Churchill staff commitment! Our mother has enjoyed the Churchill’s numerous social and educational activities, both in-house and in the community. She has loved the exercise programs and chair yoga with Nelson, the entertainment including live music and movies, and the various excursions into the community. It is amazing to us that she can be in downtown Edmonton and know her building is safe: the entry fob for residents is a great safety feature. It is also reassuring to know that when our mother has needed nursing assistance, it is right there and delivered with kindness and sensitivity. In addition, our family really appreciated the safety protocols at the Churchill during and after the pandemic.Over the years, the evening meals have been nutritious and varied, and there is an a la carte menu as well. Evening buffets and summer barbecues on the third-floor deck have been a fun way for our mom to host visitors. This space has also been a comfortable spot for her to relax and read, surrounded by the beautiful flowers grown by residents. Our mother is happy and proud to call the Churchill home. It has our highest recommendation.Linda and Susan Ewenson

Venetia Baudin: My mother has been a resident since May 2022. The services have been good, the meals are well prepared and she has made new friends. The staff are professional and kind.

Bob Henley: My mother lives in the Churchill and just celebrated her 100th birthday. The Churchill acknowledged this big milestone and had a great day planned for her.Our family also had a separate party at the Churchill and they were very accommodating. They set up the private dining room for us, catered the event and even provided one of the staff to work the party, on her day off!Thank you so much to all staff and management at the Churchill.

Shawna Kelsch: There is something very special about The Churchill. The people make the place! The staff are engaging, kind and attentive. The residents are proud to live there, welcoming, and love when new people move in!

Jarryl Tambal: Amazing place, very clean and close to amenities! great team working environment. Residents are very friendly. A place I would recommend to work or for your family to move in.

David Preshing: Very welcoming and friendly staff.Great community to retire in.More and more activities as restrictions ease. Staff and residents have done a great job of keeping the building safe through the pandemic.Location can't be beat for active, independent retirees!

Madison Peters: Great place to work or call home! Centrally located, close to amenities.

Siqi Li: Great supportive living place. Residents are friendly and staff are very helpful. Would definitely referral family members to move in.

The Waterford of Summerlea: what do users think?

Krista Mellish: I have so much love for The Waterford and the whole team and the people that live there, They go out of their way to make sure all residents are cared for and they succeed. A lot of love is given and the staff here is excellent. The way they have handled the pandemics was impeccable. You are a very lucky person if you are going to make the move to The Waterford. You will make friends very quickly and not only just that but the food is amazing. I could list so many wonderful things about The Waterford but I would take up the page. The employees are fantastic and a lot of them have been there for years and they know all the names of the residents. Just a wonderful and lovely place.

Renee Bliss: I would like to commend Ramona and the Waterford staff for the wonderful and efficient way they have managed Waterford and the health of the residents both before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. My mother has been living there for about 21 years so that already tells you something. Throughout the pandemic, I have known that my mum’s health and safety were paramount. We are so grateful for the caring staff .

Tim Whitfield: Ramona and the Waterford staff have done a wonderful job of keeping the residents safe amid this difficult, reactive time. Their ability to adapt and adjust to the changing situation has been quite amazing and clearly effective, at the same time showing the residents compassion and caring to try and make the most of a very difficult circumstance. Mom has been at the Waterford for over 10 years now, and has always felt well cared for and appreciated. Thank-you.

Brenda Holmes: Ramona, I want to acknowledge and thank you and your team for doing such a great job caring for our loved ones and keeping the families informed during this pandemic. You have maintained tact, poise and grace during an incredibly difficult and challenging set of circumstances. Most importantly, everyone is well and Covid free! You truly deserve a pat on the back for your good work!

maxine piche: . My Mom has expressed to me that she’s feeling comfortable, well cared for, and respected at the Waterford. Thank you!

Ron Campbell: My father has been a resident for over a year and I only have great things to say about The Waterford. I've been fortunate to stay in the guest suite and the staff have been 1st class in how they treat everyone and I would be honored to be considered a friend to them all. Their response to Covid-19 has been as good as it gets with fantastic results and weekly reports. I almost forgot to mention how good the food is too!I highly recommend the Waterford.

Christine Magnan: I feel that my parent-in-law are very well taken care of at the Waterford of Summerlea. The staff is very friendly, and always willing to be of help. My husband and I have had the opportunity to share brunch with them, and we both found the display outstanding. Moreover, and perhaps most importantly, the staff at the Waterford have made every effort and taken every precaution to keep their residents safe during these difficult times while facing the Covid-19 pandemic. I hope that in the future, when my husband and I are at a stage when we require assisted living care, we find an establishment as reliable and pleasant as the Wareford of Summerlea.

Bonnie Fulton: After extensive research and site visits my mother chose to live at the Waterford. She has been happy there for nearly 3 years and finds it to be very comfortable and homey with very friendly and helpful staff. She enjoys the space & privacy in her own suite and when she wants company there are lots of options to mix and mingle with other residents.

Larry Tibble: Very pleased and grateful the compassionate and professional handling of the Covid19 pandemic. Genuine care and concern for residents, their families and their staff all while adhering to the provincial health guidelines and requirements.

Fraser Hawkins: My grandmother lives here and the staff have always been very friendly and helpful. She is also kept busy with lots of activities and typically enjoys the food. Be wary of these extremely negative reviews and keep in mind that there is likely another side to the story. The accusations of assault are basically libel.

Alexander Rodd: My grandfather is very happy here. Residents have many social activities, and the food is consistent and good.
