Melissa and the staff at the school have been very helpful in every way.His teacher Miss Shioban is very friendly, kind, caring, reliable and a great teacher!! My son loves being in her class.They have a great pre school program with lots of fine motor skill activities with glue, scissors, paint brush, .. alphabet and number study, counting, story time, science study about body parts, and lots of other sensory skill activities. My son is going there all five days of the week. It's a Perfect place for our kid.The classroom is spacious, clean and has lots of daylight.I would recommend it to the parents with little ones starting preschool....It's a great place to start!!

It gives us the opportunity to talk to him about the things he’s doing because we can’t see for ourselves as he doesn’t give us much detail otherwise. It would be valuable to know, however, how my son in particular is doing. Is he playing nice, sharing, does he need extra help with anything at home that he should be able to do or know, or if he is doing just fine, etc. We know some of this missed communication could be because of the health and safety protocols in place for COVID and safety is our first concern so we understand if that’s why. We feel completely safe sending him there because of your efforts so thank you.

Everything, be it the quality of the program, the teachers, the communication from the administration, their handling during the pandemic, have been fantastic. The fact that they make an effort to understand each child even before Day 1 and personalize the program accordingly as the year goes by and the regular feedback the parents get regarding the child’s progress, not just on academic terms but also regarding their social and emotional development, speaks volumes of the care and dedication that goes into the process which makes it a complete program. YEEFANG XIAO: Very good Forest Heights preschool! Both teachers are very caring. My daughter and I both like the school very much. My little one makes friends and has so much fun at school. She is looking forward to going to school every time. Teachers engage children in making cool crafts that related to culture, science, history...Many times when I pick her up, they were walking and singing and hand in hand marching cheerfully. I am pleased to see one time they were walking outside with kid-size trash grabbers picking up garbage around school area. Teachers also send out monthly reports with pictures keeping parents informed of what they have done and how children are doing. Overall, very good quality preschool. Both of my children grew by leaps and bounds in the gentle and creative space that the teachers manage. One of the things that makes this school special and unique is the gentle coaching on social skills and pro-social problem solving that happens organically throughout the day - kids learn to listen to each other, to be more assertive, come up with creative ways to include each other in play, and likewise space is made for them if they just feel like working on something independently. Every child is special and unique and this is a place that recognizes and really celebrates that.

Jessica Nelson: Both of my children have attended the preschool and my son is currently in his 3rd year there. I love this school! Both of the teachers have an incredible way of understanding each child and what makes them feel safe and comfortable. They teach very important social skills within the classroom through modeling speech and conflict resolution. They give kids a voice and the ability to speak up for themselves.I also love that there is a 'learn through play' philosophy. Children are allowed to explore and learn at their own pace and through their own interests.The mixed age groups have been so good for my son. He has learned empathy and being the big kid this year has given him a greater sense of pride and confidence.Also, some of my greatest friendships have been formed through connections from this school. I am grateful for the community.

Allison Murray: We have two children at the nursery school. We actually switched from another preschool, because the pace was just too hectic and structured, and there was too much of an agenda, leaving the children little time to play. Teacher Mitzi and Cristina are both so caring and have a wonderful demeanour with the children.Some added perks are that there is childcare for cleaning bees and the annual general meetings, etc., making it easier for single parents, or parents whose partner has an off-hours schedule, to participate.

Thea Williams: My child has been going to Strathcona Nursery School for just under 2 years and it feels like it has been such an important part of his childhood. I have to say that I have had him in swimming and skate lessons which he has really disliked but he loves school. I think it is because there is a very good flow between structured and unstructured activities, and the teachers really see and value my child's unique way of doing things.I have really looked forward to the days when I help in the classroom, to get a peek into my child's world, and also get to know the other children. The other parents are all pretty chill, and there's always someone to hang around and chat with. I also got to know more of them better helping out with fundraising and cleaning bees. A highlight was helping build the edible garden last summer!The only drawback is, of course, the timing of preschool. But if you have flexible work arrangements or are taking a year off for maternity leave, then enrolling a child here is a no brainer. I don't think people realize that you can also start your child at any time of year, not just september. There will probably be a spot for at least one session.

Sally Hammell: I highly recommend Strathcona Nursery School.We enrolled our 3 year old son at the beginning of this year and he is always eager to get out the door to get to pre-school.I really love the "learning through play" philosophy, along with the mixed age classes and the fact that potty training is not an issue so you get kids of different ages/stages all interacting and making connections. And the teachers love their jobs.There is also a strong focus on making community among the families and we have made some wonderful connections in our neighbourhood and beyond.

Michael Zelmer: , and she's learned a tonne.The teachers are great, mixing in a healthy amount of play and learning time that includes story time, arts and crafts, song and dance, free play, etc. The enriched classes in particular have helped prepare our daughter for kindergarten, and we're expecting a very smooth transition whereas before we would have been worried.Other notes:- We started out with 1-2 classes, but easily moved up to 4/week- There are afternoon and morning classes- The school is well-equipped and housed within King Edward Elementary- You don't have to live in Strathcona to enroll. We don't, and a lot of other families live in different parts of the city as well.- The enriched classes are for 4 year-olds only, include field trips, etc- We regret not enrolling our daughter earlier. We assumed potty training would be mandatory for this sort of thing so we didn't even start looking for something until that was complete. This school is equipped to handle it, so it isn't mandatory- We enrolled our daughter at 3 years-old, but a few kids have been as young as 2 in the school

If I was still in Alberta I'd have had my other two children in this school even if it meant driving farther to their new location but I had to miss out on that opportunity due to our move. I could go on bragging about this school but honestly my 12 years old still wears the confidence he got from his first year and is doing very well!

I would highly recommend Crestwood Montessori to friends and family and am so happy we chose this wonderful place for our daughter.

By the week 3, she LOVED school. I don’t know how they did it but she is more than happy to go to school and we all are having the best experience.Extremely kind and professional staff ! Gaang Lee: it is very rare for me to put a comment here, but this school is just perfect; especially, Dawn, the main teacher, she is amazing. She is a real Montessori teacher. She really loves all the kids and is very aware of the Montessori education philosophy. Even, when we decided to move due to an external reason, she was really supportive and helped us to find another real Montessori school near our town.

I definitely recommend this place, the teachers are amazing, the atmosphere is productive and playful and you can see there is a lot of care put into what they teach the children.

Erin Gladney: My son loves this preschool. He is always welcomed with a smile and assisted if feeling uneasy. The teachers are absolutely amazing, patient and kind. On a recent visit to see what my son was learning and doing, we witnessed a very calm classroom. The children are gently reminded to listen while others are talking without calling them out in front of their peers. This approach allowed them to be cued but without shame or others watching. My son loves to tell me about the lessons he was taught and the kids he was able to play with. He can do art, work on letters, math and learn new skills all in a few hours time. What a gift this school has been to my son. I highly recommend anyone considering this school for their child/children.

Hadika Hakwik: My son attended this Montessori part-time last year. He always tells me how he much he misses it now. Although he started a little late, he was welcomed immediately. All three teachers made him feel special , especially on days when he got to be the star and helper. The staff did a wonderful job with covid protocols to keep the kids safe! Raelee Balanag: I am so grateful to of found Crestwood Montessori school. My daughter attended three days a week in the afternoons and was always excited and eager to go. Dawn and the other teachers are very caring and create such a beautiful environment for the children. I highly recommend this school to anyone considering a Montessori program. Seema: We love the program at Crestwood Montessori! Both our children have attended this Montessori. It is a warm and loving environment that stimulates learning and good habits.

Amber Pahlke: and she absolutely loves it. She feels special every time she is star of the week and gets to be the class helper, she shares a book from home, and does her show and tell. She comes home daily with work she has done each class and the progress is incredible considering she only attends twice a week.The staff are respectful and kind and my daughter enjoys seeing and spending time with them all. We get newsletters monthly and email updates for important dates and information. It is a well run program for sure.With Covid, the preschool has done an outstanding job at keeping everyone safe, while still providing an excellent preschool environment and education.I would strongly recommend Crestwood Montessori to anyone looking for a preschool for their little one.

Jayleen Mulek: My son attended for Playschool for both 3 and 4 year old programs. This is a safe warm environment, that he was always excited to go to. They keep it creative with crafts, songs, reading, writing, interactive play. Through Covid we were lucky to even have some in school field trip activity. Also proud that the facility has never closed over Covid as well. We also love that the kids learn a little Spanish, it is a nice addition. Totally recommend!

Annabel Martin: and volunteer requirements for the parents. You get to choose your bingo/casino shifts and volunteer position. If you don’t choose they will assign you with what is left. Some volunteer positions are more extensive then others. I don’t personally mind being involved because in the end it impacts the children and their experience there. I would recommend this preschool.

Amanda White: class and he loves it so much. We have noticed since starting at the school how much his vocabulary and independence has developed. The teachers are so caring, loving, and such a huge influence on him. We love that the program is learn through play which is helping with socialization and will help him immensely with going into kindergarten.

Steve Stred: What a fantastic gem. We were worried about our son attending, as he was never able to sit still and focus at library groups before this. Attending West Edmonton Playschool has been so amazing for him. The teachers are fantastic and their approach to learning and structure through play and socialization has been so great for him. He has become more attentive as well as more confident and raves about how much fun he has each time. The school covers a lot of ground for the age groups they deal with and next year they'll even begin to introduce a second language which is phenomenal. They make sure the kids experience books, crafts, food and sports and each month the calendar that is sent out shows the variety of things on their agenda. They also have taught our son the importance of responsibility which has crossed over into our home life. So glad our landlord recommended this place to us when we moved into the area. Can't say enough great things about this place.

Lindsey Smyth: Wonderful school! The teachers are absolutely amazing and so loving and patient with the children. The program is very well run and even includes a second language program! My daughter begs to go, even on weekends- always waking up asking me if there is school today!

Freely Adventure: Both my children went to this play school and it was a very memorable experience for both of them.Firstly, the teachers are one of a kind, they are very great with the children and they have the warmest hearts.The play school is equipped with all new toys, centres and there new Tower Garden. My son enjoyed watching his seeds grow into lettuce and being able to it.Both my children fell in love with Spanish, because of the intro Spanish the teachers provide. They sing songs, learn their numbers, colours and some basic sentences in Spanish.Some of the field-trips they went on; Telus World of Science, John Janzen Centre, theatre to watch a play, and they have lots of in-house fun in the spring. We enjoyed having the Christmas Magician party and the year end celebration/graduation is very well done. Leaving your child full of confidence.A little about their program... The children through play. The school is equipped with many centres including, Sand Table, Water Table, Art Centre, reading corner and many many more. The kids enjoy singing, dancing, yoga and learning how to make friends.I highly recommend this playschool! Thank you to the teachers for being so amazing.
