Viva Clayworks: what do users think?

Jen Salamandick: I was a bit nervous going into our team building event here because I am generally quite trash with hands-on, artistic things, but the educators at Viva were excellent! They both picked up on our team's zany vibes right away and were quick to joke with us and laugh with us as well.We had a few stations set up and I'd say that we all employed different degrees of listening skills during the demos, but the instructors were great about cycling around the room to offer help and clarification to each of us as needed. At one point, I'd nearly destroyed the handle of my mug and one of the instructors came over to help me fold it back into place. The team here is generous with their time, joined in on our weird inside jokes, and made sure we got a commemorative team photo outside at the end.We are a twenty person team and two of our people couldn't attend at the last minute, but the instructors even made a mug for each of the people who could not attend. The value that we got for the price we paid was spot on — definitely recommend this for teams of all sizes. We're all very excited to go pick up our finished products!

Matt R: This place is amazing. Our work did the mug making workshop at Viva Clayworks and it was such a blast. Their team created such a fun and creative atmosphere and made the activity so approachable. Highly recommended!

Charlotte: Amazing pottery night experience. Tutor taught the class succinctly and let us experience pottery for ourselves. Great price for an awesome experience. Fast turnaround for the finished pots!

T Johnson: Great instructor. Nice atmosphere. Very encouraging.

Brianna Carter: would recommend!

Kassandra Tremblay: I’d like to thank the staff at Viva Clayworks for their compassion and understanding. I had a group of 4 booked for this upcoming Saturday. Unfortunately someone from the party has contracted Covid and wont be able to attend. I explained the situation and they were able to refund me even though they have a policy of 1 weeks notice. Thank you for the awesome customer service!

Eylyn C Ramirez: We had a fantastic intro to pottery. Attending the workshop was a great experience. Can’t wait to see how the pieces turn out.

Jelle Spijker: Best pottery studio in town, as far as I'm concerned. Whether you want to take a course, or are looking for something for your house, or a gift, Viva Clayworks has you covered.

Qi Zhou: Everything is lovely here.

B: ! The kit came with every tool, verbal instructions and an easy to follow video! It was an affordable, fun, and easy to do!.. I'm not great

Josh Zizek: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueAmazing place to learn pottery! We went to a single class where you throw the clay then they glaze and fire it for you. They show you how it's done first, then give you hands on training and then let you just go for it! Would highly, highly recommend going here for a date night! Our teacher Ayla was so fun and helpful!

Lillian Tse: Great clay studio location to learn about a how to make wheel thrown pots! Or if you prefer hand built there is this option as well!

Megan Scheie: They have the biggest hearts, best teachers and made me feel right at home! Comes highly recommended!

Noreen H: It was the first time our family ever did something like this last night and it was so fun! The lady that was teaching our class was so friendly and helpful. She was also very accommodating especially towards my children who are all under 6. She went out of her way to set up a small table so they could keep busy while we created! I highly recommend this place 👌

Native Studio Art: what do users think?

Anette Yanken: Barbara is an amazing artist and teacher. She creates a very accepting and calm atmosphere for clients to feel comfortable sharing and creating together. As an Occupational Therapist, it was a pleasure connecting with her and observing her skillfully facilitate classes for vulnerable clients with FASD.

Emili Purvis: I really wanted to gift my niece and best friends a special birthday gift this year and Barb was super excited and amazing about making feather and bead jewellery together with a native touch. She provided an intro to colours and some history at the beginning and the. We got busy with making our art pieces. She was very engaging and empathetic. I love her positive vibes and the how interested she was in us overall by asking questions.I recommend her classes and look forward to another session in the future.

Dawn Fraser: I recently took a Moccassin making class at the Native Art Studio with Barbara’s Derrick as my instructor and owner of the studio. I found the class very fun and informative. Barbara is a very interesting and warm person and enjoyed the step by step instructions that she gave me in the 4 - 2 hour sessions that I attended. Also I now have Moccassin patterns she provided so I can make them on my own at home. I highly recommend the Native Art Studio and Barbara!!

John Exploring: Was having troubles with shading and drawing animals. Barb helped me practice my shading and animal drawing. Very helpful and descriptive would recommend

Lisa Gladue: I learnt to just let it flow, this is not something you go back and keep fixing it's about creating beauty with what you see in front of you. She taught us alot of different techniques with the brushes, how to make the colors stand out, she taught us about shading, about overlapping paints, and how to stop critically analyzing our work but to see it for what it holds. Acceptance, she will make you fall in love with your work, as you should 💞

Janina Banina: I have been trying to do art on my own, just for my own pleasure. But taking classes with Barbara has really got me energized, motivated and feeling competent in what I'm doing. No more frustration at not being able to do what I want, I am inspired and motivated by Barbara and her super easy to understand teaching style. I can't believe how easy it is when you have a good teacher!

mariam djalili: This is a great place to start your journey into the arts. Barbara gives personally tailored classes and guides you to find your passion and creativity. She'll inspire you to find your voice. Her classes are very well prepared and her intuition will give you exactly the challenge or gentle guidance you need. I never thought I could get to where I'm now within this short time.

The Artra Art School: what do users think?

Wendy Quach: I’m finishing up a 6 week online beginner’s drawing course with Susanne. I’ve learned so much and didn’t realize my skills until this course. Susanne walked us through the steps for each drawing and each class built upon the skills learned in the previous class. The class size was small, which allowed for individualized feedback. I honestly didn’t think I was going to learn art skills from an online course but I’ve learned SO much. The class was well worth it. For anyone who wants to learn and tap into your creative side, I highly recommend this course.

Lori Kormos: I just finished a six week on-line course called Colourful Impressionist Acrylic Landscapes and really enjoyed it. Although Frank teaches to all levels, it was an excellent course for me - a beginning. He takes the time to show you how to hold your brush, how to mix paints and leads you step by step until you have a finished painting. It was a fun way to spend Friday afternoons.

Arzoo Duggal: Positive:QualityFrank is a great instructor. With everything provided your job is to just show up and just learn.

Christine Yanish: Frank Haddock is the best art teacher and this is the best place to go for workshops and extended art classes in Edmonton. He has an engaging manner that makes his classes fun too. Prices are very reasonable too. You'll be surprised at how well you learn and can paint in a short period of time, especially if you're a beginner.

Thanh T: The children took art classes with Frank Haddock and they took their drawings to a new level. Frank has excellent rapport with his students. Highly recommended!

David Arnold: I enjoyed the friendly classes. The classes are small so there was lots of individual attention. The instructors were very knowledgeable.

The Paint Spot: what do users think?

Judy Weiss: , art brushes, and specialty papers for felting. I appreciate that the staff are helpful and knowledgable. They have been able to print out instructions and provide tips for using products that are new to me, or that require special handling. For the mixed media aspect of my art practice, I've also purchased products that range from easels to watercolour and acrylic paints, markers and more. One thing that really impresses me about The Paint Spot is how supportive it is to the Arts Commmunity as a whole. The owner, Kim, has coordinated the Strathcona Art Walk for many years. The store is involved in many special events, and has helped over the years to bring artists to conferences in Edmonton. It provides facilities for artists to show and sell their work in the Naess Gallery, and to offer classes and workshops in the Artelier space. Artelier also offers rentable workshop and lecture space to not-for-profits in our city, at a reasonable cost. These are really valuable contributions to our city's culture and arts.I would recommend The Paint Spot as a preferred art materials supplier.
