She was so respecting of choices and I believe she played a big part in the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience going as smoothly as it has. The home visits postpartum have also been amazing and I have felt so supported because of them. Christi also has been great, being so flexible and making big sacrifices for me when I was struggling with pain and big emotions while breastfeeding.May, the receptionist has also been lovely. If my midwife ever can't attend my appointment because she is at a birth, May will work hard to find someone else for me to see because she knows I drive in so far for my appointments.So thankful for this team!

Trae Lynne Thurston: I cannot give enough praise to Edmonton Midwifery Cooperative, specifically Heather Carl and Heather King.I transferred into their care at 36 weeks pregnant with my first baby, and was immediately treated with the utmost care and respect. Not only were they both exceptionally thorough, but they listened to my own experiences and desires surrounding the remainder of my pregnancy and birth. I was provided with so much support in all of my decisions, along with unbiased education from both of the Heather’s when I had questions, concerns, or needed help making informed decisions. Consent and bodily autonomy were a high priority for both of them, making me feel seen, heard, and so respected.In addition to this, Heather Carl and Heather King felt more like friends at each appointment. They had no problems sitting and simply listening to what I had to say. Both of these women are such amazing individuals.Once it came time to deliver, Heather Carl was the exact type of support I needed at the beginning of my labour. She provided hands on support to try and move my daughter, strategies to assist in seeing my “ideal birth,” through, and empathy and education when things didn’t go exactly as I planned.Sarah Rodger attended the end of my labour and delivery process, including being alongside me in my c-section, and she was also so supportive. She has a special skill of helping people in their scariest moments, as she did for several hours with both myself and my partner.Both Heather Carl and Sarah Rodgers did an amazing job at keeping me and my partner calm, empathizing and supporting us in the scary and extremely hard moments, and ensuring that my daughter arrived safe with my own safety at the forefront of their care as well. They both worked so hard to defend all of my desires surrounding my birth, and made sure that even though plans changed, I was still informed and confident in what happened.Postpartum, both Heather Carl and Heather King were such solid supports for myself and my partner as we transitioned into parenthood, along with processing our birth experience.I would recommend all three of these amazing women in a heartbeat. They made my experience something magical, and truly are a blessing to this world and our healthcare system.

Jeanette Sesay: Carly was my midwife for both of my children and I was so thankful to have her! The whole experience was amazing and I was able to have both babies at home. I was very confident in her abilities and loved how she let me lead and listen to my body during delivery. I had never considered a home birth before Carly had encouraged me to think about it. I have had some bad experiences in the hospital and therefore not super comfortable or relaxed in that atmosphere. Home births and water births aren't just for crunchy hippies haha! I highly recommend the Lucina midwives and can't imagine delivering my babies any other way 💕

Breanne Hopkins: I had Marita and Layla as my midwives. They took special care to educate me through the entire process. Every step of the way. They were all about making informed decisions, giving you information and letting you make the decision best for you. They were careful to follow up and attentive to special needs. I felt comfortable and completely confident with their care. They both developed a good rapport with me and were fantastic with my family. As plans needed to change they held space for my emotions and validated them. I got to keep my autonomy through the whole process because of them. Fantastic advocates. Their support has made the whole transition from pregnancy to post partum as easy as it can be. Curve balls were thrown at me and they allowed me to talk through things at my own pace, never rushed and carefully considered. Respectful of my time, space, situation, views... I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I wouldn't trade it for the world and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I would trust them with my life. Thank you lucina centre. AS WELL reception is always sparkling with positivity and love. Remembering my name each time I came and insuring special care and comfort for each patient. Thanks so so so much!

Madelaine Erickson: My experience with HOPE midwives was phenomenal. I was treated very respectfully and with extreme kindness by every midwife I met! I was never judged, was very well informed and cared for! As this was my first baby and I plan to have midwives for every baby, I can’t compare this to having an OB/GYN. However, I’ve heard you just can’t get the same personal, all-encompassing support from an OB/GYN. Another plus to having a midwife is how non-invasive it is.I will most certainly be trying to get in with my same midwife next time! I can’t express enough my gratitude for such amazing women!
