Ron Graham: It was fairly empty when we arrived at 1645. We were the only customers. But the server was fantastic in helping us first time Ethiopian restaurant visitors and helped us find something we might like. She was amazing. We loved what she recommended and enjoyed every minute In this restaurant. Seemed a bit expensive but probably not. I have not been in to the city for several years, so this is probably normal. The food was excellent. I loved the bread but my wife didn’t even try it. The food was not too spicy for a typical gringo palate. You should try this place. I really loved the service and the food. Typical Ethiopian customers arrived and played cards and seemed VERY comfortable in this environment. Will return for sure.

Good Times: Went there 12 hours ago for the first time ever, and I wasn't disappointed. Give this restaurant a try, and I promise you won't regret it. Bobby B: Fantastic experience! Server and staff were so nice to me.I had the Doro Wot which is a spicy chicken stew that comes with a thigh a drum sticks and a boiled egg. The stew is spicy and it builds. Comes with a HUGE serving of injera, which is a ethiopian flat bread that tastes sour and spongey.Portions are quite awesome here, wanted to just take a nap after my meal.Food was awesome would recommend!

It is specific and not for everyone. From the outside the building looks bad. It was raining that day and the walkway was all puddle, so my legs were all wet. We ordered kitfo to go, but were a little bit afraid to eat this dish with raw meat, so fried the meat. Was not bad. Shane Allison: Awesome meal. We stopped by last night after seeing the restaurant a few months ago and thinking ‘we should eat there some day’. We are so glad we did. We ordered Beef Tibs and Veggie Combo. The meal comes with a fantastic flat bread made with teff flour. The flavors were wonderful, and amount of food was plentiful. The waitress was helpful and very pleasant. We will be back for sure. Don’t let the part of town and look of the building from the outside deter you, the meal is worth it.

Ryan: Had a great lunch at the Mareeg today. It was recommended to me by a friend and he was right. The food was good, home-style Somali cooking. I had the chicken and rice, tasty and very fast service. This is a very no-nonsense, down-home style place with excellent prices. Good food with no fuss. The heat in the food comes mainly from the hot sauce. If you are sensitive to spicy food, stay away from the sauce and you should be fine. English is a second language here and everyone was very nice but I wish I spoke a few words of Somali.

IndecisiveConclusion: I quite like this place. I have been going a lot. Yes the food every now again isn't as great as it has been in the past. The prices have gone up and the portions at least with the meat have went down, but anyone who has been to the grocery stores lately know we are all feeling the crunch of inflation, I cant blame them they need to survive as well. But for the most part the food is usually very good. Huge portions for the money. The complimentary soup is great. They usually will throw in little extras like no charge for tea. The rough aesthetics of the place I quite like actually. It just adds to the vibe. Lol. The bathrooms are for the brave only lol. But overall great little spot, very nice people. I recommend this place.
