Palates Culinary Kitchen and Learning Center: what do users think?

Elaine Forster: Came here with my sister on Friday. I’m so glad we did! We learned how to make an authentic red curry, and our instructor was amazing. She showed us which good quality items to look for in the store if we’re making the dish at home. The pacing of the event was great and I never felt bored. I especially liked her personal stories and how they related to the food!

Jen Sharpe: Great work team building activity! Delicious food with leftovers to take home. Owner and her parents are lovely. Highly recommend.

Yara Blair: If you want an amazing night out and learn how to make incredible food this is the place to go hands down!! Such a beautiful space with fabulous staff!Don’t miss out book in now! 😍

Danielle Drozdiak: We came to Palates for a corporate team event. Pheap was responsive, helpful, and accommodating to our groups needs. Our team had an amazing experience at the Palates kitchen cooking delicious soup and home made pasta! Highly recommend!

Melanie Calvert: We did the “Italiano Experience” as a Team Building exercise with our colleagues. What a fun morning! The instructor, and owner, was personable, fun and very good at sharing her knowledge of food and food preparation techniques. We had the place to ourselves and enjoyed the pace of the class….stopping to sit down and enjoy our creations course by course. She provides recipes so you can recreate at home later. Worth every penny and more!

John Cole: Just finished a Cambodian cooking course here and absolutely loved it. The owner is an entertaining teacher who constantly provides background info on related items such as how to select ingredients.Everyone gets their own cooking station so it's as interactive as a class can get. Best of all, the food was delicious, and as a bonus there is so much food that there's at least 2-3 meals of leftovers.

Amaya Daley: What an amazing experience! My partner and I signed up for a Thai curry cooking class and we couldn't have been more impressed. Pheap and her family were delightful! Her wisdom and stories made the evening one we'll not forget. We will definitely be back soon!

Brenda Howatt: We spent a great evening learning to cook Thai food. The instructor was fun, knowledgeable and organized. We made lots of food to eat there and to enjoy at home. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The course went by quickly and left me wanting to dive more into Thai cooking.

Sarat Lao: The best restaurant in Edmonton, can’t go wrong with that. I will recommend to everyone I know. Thanks

Debbie Gmail: We had our Christmas Ladies night out party at Palates last night and it was absolutely fabulous. The venue is five star. Pheap and her team are amazing. A truly made in Edmonton success story. Don't think about having an event there, DO IT!!!!!

Meg Keller: We had the best time celebrating my sister's 40th birthday! They were incredible hosts. The food was amazing and we had so much fun! The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Highly recommend!!

Kiri Blackwell: We booked a private class as a 30th birthday celebration at Palates and had an amazing time! It was so well organized and the food was absolutely fabulous. We left very full and with leftovers to take home! The staff were so kind and engaging. We will definitely be back!

Kim Torto: We recently had my daughters 9th birthday party at Palates. I stumbled across this venue when trying to decide what to do for her birthday and I am beyond happy I did. Pheap is an exceptional host and culinary educator, who took the time to get to know each girl and believe me when I say, it’s a big time slot, but it goes by fast. There are no lulls, just happiness! As they went through each course, she taught the group about the ingredients, along with fun facts about them. Pheap was excellent at engaging the girls and having them explain what they were experiencing in the moment. She is VERY clean, moving the girls station to station. Washing hands in between each course and cleaning the previous station, she never misses a beat! There was so many giggles and a ton of smiling, the girls LOVED this cooking experience. My absolute favourite part of all of this was that after each course prepared, the girls got to sit in a beautifully decorated room and enjoy the fruits of their labor together. It was such a joy watching them eat what they cooked and share laughs. There was team effort, camaraderie and absolute fun had by everyone. All those moments combined together, created awesome memories and I am thrilled with the whole experience Pheap provided us.THANK YOU, Pheap for an exceptional day! I look forward to booking a girls culinary night in the future 😁

Fiona Lee: Was a very refreshing experience! Owner/instructor, Pheap, was very welcoming and knowledgeable. She made sure to go through everything thoroughly and answered all the questions we had. Husband and wife duo made sure we all had a good time, even providing us with the recipes after! Would definitely recommend any of her classes.

Taresa Chieng: Plus it is always fun to make fun of your family or friend's cutting ability.

Kristeena K: We had our daughters 8th birthday at Palates! It's was a wonderful time. The hostess Pheap is great with kids! I highly recommend!!

Denise Pucci: Positive:QualityHad our staff xmas party there. So much fun and the food was fantastic! I would do this experience again!

Hazel Block: This was such a fun learning experience for the boys. Now, we can ask the kids to cook for us parents. Lol! Honestly, I was so impressed as Pheap accommodated us on such short notice and moved things around for us. She made my boy's 12th birthday celebration a day to remember. She was so great with the boys. Having 8 boys in the kitchen could be a total chaos but she handled it like a pro. Thank you so much!

Kathryn does an incredible job including everyone in the class and demonstrated each dish as we moved through the evenings menu. Kathryn’s ability to manage a class of 8-10 all with different levels of cooking skills and the way she timed all the dishes is really quite amazing.A great gift idea, or just treat yourself to a great evening and be prepared to dine on some amazing food that you created. Our evenings dinner attached in photo.Rod Bobke

Kathryn is charming and informative; she lets you sit back and enjoy or you can get your hands as busy as you would like. The food was delicious and there was more than we could ever possibly eat so takeaway boxes followed us home. I can’t wait to go again! I never expected to have eggplant and gochujang as staples on my grocery list but here we are!

Thressa Zilinski: Kathryn is personal and makes the experience inviting and comfortable. Great atmosphere and amazing food that is doable to recreate at home. Highly recommend.

June Hutchinson: March 4, 2023 Get Cooking class tonight was fabulous. Great instructor, staff and lots of fun. Food was delicious and we learned alot. Jamning: Thankyou Kathryn, Farrah and Owen for a memorable night!! :

dasha mironova: Absolutely recommend the in-person class to anyone looking to celebrate a special occassion or simply spend the evening among a great group and the incredible chef! The class can extend a bit longer than advertised but for all the right reasons. The chef is welcoming, highly skilled and trained. Our portions were generous and even a little tough to finish, which is never a bad thing! Worth every penny.

Garby Hinz: My husband and I went to Kathryn's Valentine's day class and we loved it! Kathryn is an amazing teacher and we look forward to joining another class.

Sukhjit Dhillon: I bought this cooking class for my husband as his Christmas present and we had an amazing time. The atmosphere is great, the food was incredible and the instructors were so easy going. Kathryn was great, she gave us tips to making the recipe easier when we were cooking at home by ourselves. She also recommended where to get all the ingredients locally which is so helpful when learning a new cuisine. I am also gluten free and everything in the Thai class was gf which was great! My husband and I will definitely be coming back!

A. Ch.: It is so nice to learn something new. Gnocchis, pasta from scratch, pastéis de nata, bifé a cebolada, bolinhos de bacalhau, risotto. All of them great new skills for me. Cooking along the instructor at home is priceless.

Laura Winwood: You have got to try this cooking school!! I was a total beginner and am now an accomplished, confident cook. Kathryn and her team are awesome in providing support and advice. It's great to cook alongside a professional chef. The online classes are user-friendly and easy to access.

Susie Sykes: I have hosted our staff with Kathryn a few times for our Christmas party and it's always the best time! Rolling up our sleeves as a team, we bond over trying something new and then we share a beautiful meal together. I 10/10 recommend Get Cooking.

Jessica Simonar: Hosted my staff Christmas party at Get Cooking and it was wonderful. Kathryn was easy and amazing to work with. Her team and she made delicious food. The space was a perfect place to have a private function. I would highly recommend her and go to her again for an office party or a cooking class!

Patrina Moore: Oh wow I don't know where to start, Kathryn and Addie are just awesome. I attended a team building cooking class here at Get Cooking where we made Thai curry, this was delicious.Online and in person classes are available, check them out, you won't regret it.

Jayla Atchison: We attended a cooking class as a company for a "team retreat" and Kathryn and her nephew were absolutely amazing and very accommodating. We made Korean cuisine and Kathryn was able to tailor the menu to specific dietary needs, while also keeping it interesting for the rest of the group! The food was delicious and we all had such a great time. We hope to attend another team bonding class again in the future. Thank you so much!!

Duchess Atelier: what do users think?

Cheyanne W: Great class with very helpful and knowledgable staff - and the resulting cake was incredible! Highly recommend!

Alecia Vogel: so that NYC workshop was a big letdown. This workshop at Duchess Atelier was 10,000 times better than the one in NYC. I covered both pages of my folder in notes as the class progressed. I even got to learn how to do a crimp technique I've seen on Pinterest but had been too intimidated to try on my own. The results after the pie came out of the oven were fantastic.I went home with 6 new recipes, 3 apple cinnamon galettes, 1 cherry pie, a raisin butter tart, and enough pie dough for 1-2 pies. Plus, I have a newfound confidence when it comes to baking pies thanks to the course. The instructor, Erica, was more than happy to answer my bombardment of questions following the class about her experiences working in the industry, mistakes to avoid if I decide to make a career change, and how I can be a competitive candidate for entry-level pastry positions. I also asked lots of questions during the class about techniques and approaches to the recipes and she didn't seem annoyed which was an extra plus

Kimberly Wawryk: My boyfriend and I did a macaron basics baking class at Duchess Bake Shop’s Atelier and oh my gosh it was so much fun, definitely recommend! The classes are quite expensive, but totally worth it. We got feee food and drinks during the class and we got to take home 2 jars of salted caramel filling as well as 24 macarons.

Karen Drebert: Wonderful experience! I have taken many classes and learned so much. And you get to take home your delicious goodies.

kerry nickoleff: Can I give them 6 stars? Made Brioche, the best class!

Athena: Positive:Communication,ProfessionalismI've taken in-person and virtual baking courses. The instructors are friendly and knowledgeable. They've helped me learn enough that I find baking fun and easy now. I highly recommended baking courses from them.

leanne Hardy: Excellent experience, will definitely be doing again.

Stefan Wall: Lovely and delicious. Very beautiful location.

Lacey D: Fun and very informative! And got some delicious treats to take home! I'm definately going to do it again!

Kristin B.: , fantastic! She is knowledgeable, she's funny, approachable. Such a joy! The class was so relaxing and facility is gorgeous. You can really tell how much is poured into these classes. I also took the Christmas cookie decorating class and everything was set up so nicely. Must have taken so much prep for the staff.Second, I am completely converted to the Duchess recipe for Macs and plan on purchasing the cookbook at my next class. I have made several batches at home since taking the course and though I needed to adjust temperature for my oven I have gotten 100% full shells every time even with playing around with shaped macarons for Christmas. And lastly, I'm so excited to take more classes in the next couple months

Lucia Sartor: Very pretty place and excellent baked goods

Chris Pawluk: What a gem of facility. The instructors have been so entertaining,l informative and professional.

Steven Carlson: Went to the Duke class and it was amazing! We had a lot of fun and learned a bunch of great tips and techniques. Our instructor Kerri was awesome and the cakes turned out perfectly😁

We had a great time learning a new culinary skill and now have the ability to make this at home. All of the staff were very friendly and accommodating as well. We were given a choice of drink to start and then the cooking began. When we were all finished cooking we were given a plate of bruschetta to go with our meal and a beautiful desert to finish everything off. I would recommend this for a date night as it is an inexpensive evening out and you are learning to cook together, which is wonderful shared experience.

Michael Potter: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ We just finished cooking and eating at this place and it was FANTASTIC! Antonio is an incredible instructor and knows his stuff. He is really funny too and made the class very fun and enjoyable. My wife and I regularly go on dates and this is definitely one of the top dates we have been on. The food was also so SO delicious! I did not want the juicy steak, asparagus, watermelon salad, and the blueberry pie to end! All of it was so so tasty! Was well worth it. Thanks for a memorable night. 5 out of 5 stars! ⭐️

Rachelia Pawluk: I took the Beginning Pasta Masterclass and the Cooking with Parmigiano-Reggiano sessions that were offered at GETCA with Chef Antonio Tardi and they were both phenomenal! Antonio is so passionate, energetic, and wants everyone to enjoy the process of learning. I would highly recommend YEG Cooking Classes above some other cooking classes I have tried in the Edmonton area. YEG Cooking Classes is worth every penny for the experience, quality or dishes/ingredients, and the knowledge you walk away with. I can’t wait to take more courses!

Awn Kitchen: what do users think?

Michael Aytenfisu: A group of us attended for the Fresh Pasta cooking class and had a really excellent time. The ingredients were fresh and great quality, the recipes delicious, and overall the class was really fun and very informative. Kaelin was a great host and we'll certainly be back at some point in the future for some other classes. I'd definitely recommend the class to anyone curious about it. Thanks Kaelin!

John Saluk: Great little cafe and bakery. Cinnamon bun was great! Add an Americano and the perfect reward for anything you can think of.There are even evening classes for baking your own.

XH: . Not sure if that’s exactly a fair comparison though as cafes almost always do their shots worse than the roaster themselves. It was still good! But to a noticeable slightly lower quality

Kirsten Hoffmann: I love Awn! I’ve been coming here ever since they opened. It’s my go to cafe! Great coffee/ espresso drinks and food.

Kristeena K: The pastries at Awn are unbelievable! Love the apple turnovers.

Jasmine A: Large Chai latte with an espresso shot is delicious! Perfect sweet/spice combination. Very clean and relaxing environment

Tobi Lubek: Been here several times. Great service, awesome coffee, and even better pastries!

Melanie Villeneuve: Delicious coffee and food made with local ingredients. Can't go wrong.

Mathew Diggle: and Bakewell tarts. Delicious soup and very homely. Having come from the UK it was so nice to find a Cafe that's not a chain. Staff were lovely, hours are convenient, parking isn't an issue and we found seating with ease. We will be back for workshops, snacks, after the school run, apres-ski and more.

Tom Stogdale: Fabulous modern café with very pleasant staff and excellent cappuccinos. Great place to learn some cooking too as they do evening group cooking events.

Linda Crawford: Excellent choice for an enjoyable cooking class and evening out. It is fun, comfortable, hands-on and delicious. Top quality ingredients are just part of the package. The kitchen is gorgeous and at the end of the class you get to sit down and enjoy the delicious food that has been made that evening.
