They may commit to one of the exceptional alternative programs, or they may be training as an elite athlete who requires a flexible school program that allows them to be successful as an athletic scholar. Students in Grades 7 - 12 choose programs in sports, dance, and outdoor pursuits, or they create a flexible schedule in the Elite Athlete program to accommodate training in swimming, diving, gymnastics, figure skating, wrestling, martial arts, or alpine skiing, just to name a few.

Welcome to Old Scona Academic. Old Scona Academic high school was established in 1976, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, to challenge students who strive for excellence in all that they do. Students accepted to the school will receive instruction in both the Alberta Education and International Baccalaureate curricula. We will now only accept resident students in Grades 10 to 12 who have newly moved into the school’s attendance area.

A resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic. Non-resident students can enrol in another Division school with space in planned classes.
