My name is Mike Morison and I am honored to be joining the Lillian Osborne family as the new principal this year. I'd like to take a moment to introduce myself. I have been with Edmonton Public School for the past 23 years during which I've taught a wide variety of classes and grades. I served as a teacher, department head and assistant principal in Outreach programs, Westlawn School, and W. P. Wagner High School. For the past decade I have been proud to serve as principal at Rutherford and Ottewell schools.
This is an exciting time for all of us as we begin a new school year filled with hope and optimism. For our new grade 10 students - welcome! Hameeda Hudda: It’s a big school so be ready for a big crowd and seems to be a promising place but not for kids who prefer a smaller school.
Anonymous Roti: . The school also has occasional pep rallies which I personally did not enjoy.Students are also provided with mental health support and counselling if the student so wishes. The student can easily get access to mental health counselling through the student services room, in full privacy. The mental health counsellors are also very nice.Next up, food. I really liked the variety of food that is sold at the kiosk. This includes pizza, samosas, hotdogs, chocolates, ice cream, etc.

Yasir Saeed: My daughter has been going there for 3 years now. The best school out there for children with hearing loss. They have all the support from Occupational therapist, Audiologist, etc..However it would be nice to have have teachers with a bit of experience. Seems like every year, there are brand new teachers who try new things out their own way. Surprisingly it works for my daugther though.

Vanessa Bodnar: Came to WISE in 2012 during a very difficult period in my family's lives. It gently supported and nurtured healing in many ways, grounded us and showed us what community and intentional teaching can do. Best decision I could have made as a parent. We're in our 7th year and have been grateful for how WISE meets our child and teaches to grow all parts of their person; emotional intellect, community, strength in spirit and resolve, practical skills, art, drama, band, movement, nature, hand works, cooking, etc. Very holistic teaching that nurtures broad types of temperaments, natural talents and personalities. In my view the public system just cannot compete with the Waldorf Philosophy of learning. The fees are very affordable and can be worked into any budget.

michelle bizjak: We went to an open house for their preschool a few years ago. It was such an amazing experience to see what education should look like. The teachers and staff are well trained and informed and all posses additional education above their degrees specific to waldorf education, they are kind and compassionate with all of the students. The staff and the families all work to create a sense of community.Choosing this school for our children was the best decision we made. I recomend this school to everyone.

Ms. Black: Braemar School is still around over 20 years later as a place of education for pregnant and parenting teens 13-20 yrs old. Run by Terra Association, without a safe, caring environment, I would not have finished my academic upgrading and went onto university to complete a bachelor degree. Studying at my own pace, with competent teachers to help guide me were essential to my success. I saw too many young women drop out early. Don't be that girl, persevere!!
Michelle Crossman: I went to this school almost 20 years ago 😬 I graduated here with my son attending my graduation. He recently graduated also. This school gave me the supportive community I really needed when I entered the world of motherhood. There was so many supportive teachers and staff who helped me throughout my time there. A few times After late nights with the baby, I fell asleep on the library couch and I felt safe enough to do that there. There was a daycare on site where my son went, which made drop offs and pick ups less stressful. I made friends here and we would have sleep overs with our kids, go out to lunch with them and travel the mall together. It made being a teen mom more enjoyable and because my friends were in the same stage of life I rarely felt left out. It made a major impact in my life as a young mom, one I won’t ever forget. My friends and I graduated and went on to college with more skills than we would have trying to maintain our lives at a normal highschool.

Chantelle St. Martin: This is a very well worth it Education System. Class sizes are small, it’s uniform, they prep you for life. They had my daughter reading at a grade 12 reading comprehension level when she was in kindergarten. They had amazing talent opportunities and did not spent school money on their benefit. They used it for helping students in their education endeavours. They also have mixed children which was the reason I found them in the first place. My children are half Asian, my son looks full Asian. And tempo was high rated but all a bunch of white children. I felt my son would feel out of place and I didn’t like that. I love progressive for having such a race mix the children were all amazing, the field trips were so awesome. The school doesn’t leave any child behind, leaves no gaps in knowledge, they have payment plans for monthly payments instead of yearly tradition. My children learned and took a lot from this school with them to bring them success in life.
Mr. D: We had a great experience at progressive with Kayla, and JK teacher Jona Jovi and later with Gillian and Sunny. Kayla runs a very thorough and well organized program and is a great professional in her dealings
Sherry Ying: I sent my both kids to PA started 2021 school year. My daughter attended JK program at Sunflower room with teacher Ishani and Deema. They truly care and love my daughter. For the last 10 months, my daughter has grown and learnt not only academically but also attitudes and behaviors. I’m so glad we made the right choice and lucky to have amazing teachers for my both kids!
Chetan Bahl: This is our daughter's second year at The Progressive Academy. Her Sunflower homeroom teacher, Mrs Ishani made the transition seamless and she loves going to school. Their attention to detail is immaculate and have recognized letters that she needs to work on. They are very supportive and working towards making our child's development journey successful. She started to speak fluently , write letters and also spell her name. It was exciting to see that. Highly recommended 👌

Kyla V: My daughter is absolutely thriving in Progressive's JK program. Every day she comes home with a new fact or song she learned, excited to share. I've been very impressed with the whole phonics program. Three months into the year and she's so excited to be sounding out words by herself. Ishani has been great supporting the whole family and providing lots of feedback.

Hadil Eshtayah: Amazing school and teachers. My child was losing attention at daycare and getting bored. This school taught my 4 year old kid to sound all letters within 3 months. She also was excited to go to school everyday. The school is organized, clean, with great supportive teachers and staff. They are like family.

Deepak Kainth: My children have really enjoyed their first year in Progressive Academy's JK and SK programs. They look forward to each day, and have blossomed in their social and academic abilities. Their teachers are loving, focused, and attentive to their well being. I receive regular updates on their progress, and know that there are numerous activities to keep them engaged throughout the day. I appreciate the small class sizes, that there are two teachers in each room, and that the children are able to go to different classes with different teachers for different subjects. I also appreciate that the children interact with other students of similar or greater age in order to practice their reading and language skills. Next year, my children will be using the school's private school bus, which provides door to door service, in order to go and come from school. Overall, my children and I have had a positive and fulfilling experience at Progressive Academy, and we hope to continue our enrolment at the school for many years to come.
