The Aquatic Centre houses two large indoor pools: the East Pool and the Winslow and Christian Hamilton Memorial Pool, commonly known as the West Pool.
Both pools are located in the Van Vliet Complex - one in the East Wing and one in the West Wing. The pools are used for a wide variety of programming and are open for use by students, staff, faculty members, and community members.
As a Provincial Training Centre for the Lifesaving Society, we offer all of the Lifesaving Society's programs, including learn-to-swim classes for children and adults, lifesaving, lifeguarding, & instructor certifications and recertification, and the Green & Gold Lifesaving Sport Club.
Additionally, we have numerous opportunities for fitness and fun with our morning fitness swim & other recreational opportunities & aquatic fitness classes.

Andrew Rosario: and it kinda gives off a cozy vibe. The locker rooms are quite small, though, and the showers are elbow to elbow, so yeah.

Danielle Wessel: My favorite pool. They even set aside 3 lanes for lane swimming and aqua jogging on a Saturday afternoon. Check Thursday evening aquasize.

Scotia: A great place to come if you're looking for some peaceful lane swimming, classes, or public swim time with the family. Staff and other attendees are kind and respectful. They offer their pool, a large hot tub, a steam room and also a sauna in both the men and women's change rooms. The lockers are free, which is great and they have wall mounted spin dryers for your bathing suit once you're finished. I come here 2-3 times a week. The facility is a bit older but has received excellent renovation.

Ben: It's a humble pool with a few lanes 1 diving board, 1 rope, 1 slide and a large toddler pool that's warm enough to keep a baby comfortable. The change rooms are decent and we'll maintained. There are some peculiar rules so you may get the whistle blown till you know them. The staff and lifeguards are friendly

Damien Lorie: Great pool just felt a bit of discrimination because of my nationality I'm native albertian was told by a life guard to shower and wash my hair first even though I did but there's always that one person that's hates different cultures
Andrew King (Twitch): Lots of great amenities here that's not aren't available at different rec centers like the Tarzan rope or waterfalls for ppls backs. I personally don't like them, but lots do it makes me itchy, lol. The steam rooms the best here, nice n hot!!! My only complaint is that it closes early, and the steam room is kinda small, so it can get very loud inside
Red Purse Reviews: Visited on a Saturday thinking it would be busy. It wasn't. I forgot it was the long weekend. Sat swim classes were cancelled. Great facility and helpful staff. I particularly appreciated the diving board. They have 3 levels, a swing rope and water slide.Clean indoor tot playground for kids up to 6. Air conditioned too.
Fred Shadid: I really enjoy this place. The staff are helpful and friendly. The facility is clean and it has all u need: waterfall pool, diving tank, pool, hottub and a steam room. The gym is also good and has limited selection of equipments, but enough to do a full body workout. It's my favorite recreation out of all recreation centers.

Ryan Roesinger: Not a bad place to come and work out but it does show its age. If this is the closest recreation facility to you then it will serve you well. If you can manage to take the LRT then I suggest going to either Commonwealth or Claireview Recreation Centres
G Fisher: Beautiful grounds! We went to wander around the park and was very impressed with picnic areas available and free parking. Plenty of space for lots of people to enjoy without feeling over crowded. Excellent water park for kids and adults to cool off on a hot day.Will definitely come back with friends and family to picnic.Great scenery of downtown and the bridge!

Vivek A: This place makes sure you feel sporty year round even during winters. Indoor gym, track and 3tennis courts in winter keeps the muscle moving. Great location too.
Dave Poshar: Awesome place. Membership fees are well priced and the facility is large with basically anything your looking for. Fitness center has an awesome selection of dumbbells up to 120 lbs and many machines. Machines are slightly outdated but they all function properly. Huge indoor/outdoor pool with a large hottub. And massive indoor track. They could definitely use a few more treadmills as there's only like 6 in the entire facility, which kinda sucks.If your in the changerooms when they unleash the thrall of kids from swimming lessons then run for your life. They come in like a swarm of screaming banshees, and combined with the echo in the changerooms, it's one of the loudest, most unsettling things I've ever heard. I've had to rearrange my workout schedule to minimize exposure to this menacing experience.Your also forced to drive across the bridge and go downtown when you leave the facility. But that's just another of edmontons long list of road planning atrocities.

Agnes Wong: I would drive to the Commonwealth just for the child minding service. Hugo, I believe the leader at the Commonwealth childminding, he is so patient and the other staff who follow his guidance are also very kind and willing to play with the kids. Compared to other rec centre childminding services, this is by far my children's favorite.

Zonta Ayaonlat: Not so much going on in terms of busy, however, it’s a good place for starters. Their gym section has moderately what you need for daily exercise. Cost effective and you don’t have to Rob the bank like in some popular gym. What I love the most is their hot tub and steam room. You can spend only 8$ to enjoy all amenities in this place.

Czariel Alcaide: My family was invited to a party there recently. The lobby was clean and inviting with lots of room to sit on. The party area is a bit warm, so you need to request their fans from the front desk. The kitchen area for the party area has good pots and pans for use. The fridge is spacious to store some food. After the party we were able to clean up fast before the next group arrived because their cleaning supplies were complete as well.

Red Purse Reviews: This pool is very clear and clean. The staff are observant and it's safety is enforced. I heard them check with each child and others they didn't know to ascertain swimming level..Incl us. We did a quick swim test of 25 metres and passed. My grandchild loved the slide and I am so impressed we have such a great facility close on our neighbourhood.

Andrew Rosario: It’s surprisingly a good gym. First off, I LOVE an open high ceiling for working out. If it’s sunny outside, you just feel energized, you know? It just feels less cramped, too, with all that height.Two, it does have the standard UMAX deadlift size plates, plus your standard plates. And it has four squat/deadlifting cages. Nice. They even have a SYNERGY station! With the TRX, cable attachments, and pull-up bars so you can do a lot without moving all over the place. Even Commonwealth doesn’t have that! There is a little stretching room and there’s a second level with some smaller dumbbells and a single user cable machine for your crossovers and stuff like that.For the price and for the size of the space, it actually makes good use of it. It’s really good for what it is!The pool is nice. It slopes down gradually from right to left. There are… slides. And a hot tub that honestly feels like a PRIVATE PARTY. Like, you’re swimming lanes and you get a sense of FOMO everytime you glance over there.

Deborah Auger: Bathroom is nasty in family bathroom. They need more bathrooms then just 1 stall. Rude teenagers using swear words in the entrance fooling around not being mindful of people going or entering.They should have a security in the entrances. Other than these two suggestions its great.
